Animal Dissectors turning animal corpses into statues is also a good idea. The size of the creature and the inherent danger of it should have a direct effect on the value of the statue, I think. A stuffed dragon would be much more valuable than a stuffed frog, after all.

I like this :)

I could, however, define a new custom workshop which requires a taxidermied animal, which is made from hair, feathers, or scales, which would get [REACTION_CLASS:TAXIDERMY] or something...

Beekeeping--Bee armor

Spoiler: You have my attention. (click to show/hide)

Also, an idea for the cement you suggested; if you want to make it a more effective building method like what I'm assuming, you could have the stone blocks be crushed to powder, rather than whole rocks.  This gives more powder per rock, since one raw stone gives four(?) or so blocks. Simply making a block give 2 units of powder for cement makes large scale building much more viable and efficient, as one raw rock can then give 8 units of material to build with.

Although the romans had 'cement', its formula was lost and inefficient.  The cement we know today was developed in the 18th century.

If I made a reaction that turned, say, 2,000 bees into one "bee block," would it take bees out of hives or what?

A quick riff on the beekeeping - what if you found a way to make beehives work underground with an underground bee species?

Can you mod the things needed for bees to live?
I have considered adding new hiveable species. Like, cobbler elves (make shoes) or golden wasps (make gold...somethings).

I fixed that for ya.

Regardless of what I said previously, DF elves don't chop. They merely coax the wood out of a tree in a manner which is probably sexual. So yes, they are terrible, terrible beings.

Alright, my first hiveable critters are going to be pygmy dwarves, who produce iron mini-fortresses. Hopefully, they will be rarer than bees, but in case they aren't, I'll be adding in other quirky critters.

Out of curiosity, would this work and if so how would I do it?

Update: Pottery now uses a "CLAY_MAT," allowing me to use FIRED_MAT as nothing but a way to designate, "This soiley stuff can be gathered." Peat can also be gathered; I intend to make it useable as wax.

Clay tablets with dwarven wisdom (?) written on them as trade good?
High failure chance when crafting but quite high rade value?
