So everybody what should we start our fortress zone 1, zone 2 or zone 3 or zone 4. ps Trying to make a 60 minute poll for it back cant make new one haa.
Edit- anybody how to remove an old poll and add new one???
Well since the poll making is annoying Im gonna do a coin flip to decide on region 2 and region 3. Heads region 2, tails region 3.
The flip!
Well it seems that we shall live in region 3 and now i can get this game ago.
Ps. Th4DwArfY1 your in for a turn
Whelp beginning of the game people, have fun and good luck to all.
After a two month journey the old and rotten cart the settlers has been using to find riches for their kingdom has finally broken down.
Whelp that's just great the old busted thing cant much farther men, so that means our new home is here. Hmm the ground is moist meaning there's an aquafier under us, hope highmax and snow can find use some rock for us.
Hmm seems like everybody is here and they seem okay, but that could change all in a second.
Unbelievable that we found stone in this wet dump, but highmax informs me that the stone is only claystone a wet and almost useless type of stone to use and live in, even if was slit its better then living above ground like a elf. I told snow and high to dig out a simple but workable home for us.
Well thinking about farming plans with Blade, Shadowhammer come out of nowhere running and yelling about a fat and dirty wild animal sighted down the hill of us. I follow Shadow to the spot of the animal with Blade who is used to hunt. I looked over the ridge and saw PIG! but it was different looking, it was hairy and had huge teeth in its mouth. Blade tells me it is a warthog or wild pig, I ask him if we can eat it. He said yes but they are know to attack dwarfs. Yeah you would not get close to those warthogs shadow to cut trees down.
I tell Shadow not to worry about the warthog and to destroy the rotten cart so no one knows we are here. He says that he will do but tells me not to forget about the pigs. As he was leaving I thought to my self why he was afraid of the warthogs they were just pigs but tougher, I should keep my eye on him.
I told Wolf to build a mason shop and told him to make a door with the claystone show we can have protection against the Wild creatures and a chair and table for us because we may be dwarfs live in the stone and dirt but that does not mean we cant eat on fancy table. I also finished planning the farms area so i told blade and time to stop lazying around and get to it so we can have a harvest of strawberries and plump helms.
I also tell Shadow to build a carpenter show and to make enough beds and barrels to last us a bit. He said he will get on it right away, but I see a doubtfulness in his eyes.
With the danger of the wilds all around us, I decide to pen our animals outside are fortress for their safety and to put our war dog on a chain in case of thieves. With Snow and Highmax working hard cleaning out a home for us, and with Snow almost done with the storage room I have everybody else move the food inside.
Well I was sleeping on a nice soft pebble i heard a huge commotion coming from with the fortress near the bed chambers. It seems Highmax found pink jade, this must be a sign of the hidden treasure with in Fliermanor. With this find everybody's spirit seems to have lifter higher then we first embarked. With this news let us hope fliermanor has a bright future

next update.
Well i was planning the next mining area Blade comes to me with great news, it seems that it has started raining which im glad for since this savanna area is increasingly hot and low rain amount. With the rain the ponds will be refill for are well soon.
Blade also saw a group of furry monkey like animals down the ridge, wondering what they are I excused myself from blade and rest of the group. Following Blades directions I can about a group of 10 monkey creatures. Not knowing if they are dangerous I left they creatures alone in till we have weapons.
I called both Highmax and snow over to me. I told them that we need more room for are workshops and gave them plans for expansion of the fortress. I also told them if they find some other then claystone they report back to me asap.
With in 10 minutes of mining out the work shop area Highmax ran back to me saying they struck phyllite, Knowing that we can find silver in phyllite I tell them to dig out the phyllite.
Well taking a break and exploring the nearby land i noticed some thing increasingly troubling, It seems that even with the rain fall the nearby grass and pond are drying up. If this continues we could have wild fires and loss all of are well water. I must return to the fortress and think of something to help against the drying.
I was heading back to the fortress when i noticed a huge amount of dead pests just above the entrance of the fort, knowing all to well what can cause this mess I told timeless to kill the cat before the dead pest problem gets out of control.
Before I want back into the fort to think about the drying of the ponds I noticed a large grey crature roaming to the north, I ask Blade if he knew any animals of the description. He said it was a single horn hippo, wondering what a hippo was doing in this dry area he said they are the polar opposite of hippos.
Its getting close to summer and I still have not thought of a way to stop the water drying up, but then Shadow comes to me and tells that all the ponds near us have dried up. Not knowing what to do now I tell him not to worry about and to return to work. Let us hope we can find and aquafier.
With the water promble still heavy I try to forget it by telling ma and snow to dig out mining tunnels for ore, gems and stone for us.
With the workshop areas done I tell shadow to build a bowyers shop so we can start hunting and a kitchen to make meals.
It seems it has entered summer time now, and with it more heat and migrant. Let us hope that the rest of the year it good.
"Interesting idea Bob but how do we find the aquifer if most of the land is dry and cracked. Theres no clues of where on starts or ends." said Dan the jeweler.
Try to post some more later.
People who still needs to be dorfed: Gnorm, Jamcat, Bokaza, Th4DwArfY1, Tevish Szat, CameraNerd
??!
Wait, so you can set cropland up without having to muddy indoor stone first? Teach me, oh guru, in the ways of surface farming!
Just designate and area for mining on a dirt layer and you are good to go. ;D

update!!
Well working on my sleeping timeless comes yelling into my room about buckets and how to fix are water problem but also said that his name is timeless bob not boss and to make buckets or else he will exploded. Not knowing if he can exploded on a whim I decided to grant his wish about buckets.
After giving the order for more buckets I heard Blade yelling about how are dwarf brothers and sisters have arrive.
After are dwarf famly arrives I come up to them and take their names and jobs skills, but I find out that most of the dwarfs have worthless job skill. Knowing that we cant have just useless dwarfs lying around I ask each of them their fighting skill.
After Asking all the dwarfs their skills I was able to find two who are perfect for our new military, knowing good well that they will do better in the military then working in the shops.
This is the new military (http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a558/danmanthedog/armysquard_zps11553801.png)
After dealing with the new military I heard shadow come yelling screaming about how some one is trying to hunt the warthogs. I ask him that we have no hunters in the fortress but he said that an migrant is the hunter. Surprise I count the migrant heads and its true one migrant sneaked past me to go hunting. Shadow still next to me yelling how we need to rescue him before a warthog gets him, Shocked that Shadow would think that way i tell him that a dwarf would not go down fighting a worthless pig.
Yeah shadow im not trying to be me but you really hate warthogs.(http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a558/danmanthedog/hunter_zps1017cac8.png)
After calming shadow down, I ran to Timeless who was playing with one of the newly made buckets. I asked him where the hunter was and he said he just came back to drop a cavy pig off in the eating hall. Confused I asked him why the eating hall, he said that we have no butcher shop so the hunter decided to just drop it in there.
With out a second thought i asked him where is he now, he said he was killing one of those hairy pigs.
(http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a558/danmanthedog/warthog_zps4cf3eefe.png) The fighting report. It was two pages but the second page was just the warthog puking.(http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a558/danmanthedog/fighting_zps1bdcfe29.png)
I was watching the horror of the killing of the hog when right when it was about dead the hunter stopped shooting it and just walked back to the fort. Surprised I ran to him and asked what he was doing and he said that he was thirsty.
(http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a558/danmanthedog/hoghurt_zps5d48ecde.png) He killed it later but It was just pure torture for the hog.
I just pray to Armok and great Kogan that he miners have something good to report. I asked Snow about the mining oberation and he said that all we found were pink lavenders! No ores or any useful rocks, with out ores this fortress wont survive a few years.
Knowing that using the old tradition of mining would not cut it I decided to try my own way of mining. I told the men dig dig long paths through the stone hoping we hit something of value.
Its nearing the end of summer so my team is coming to an end soon.
If you want to be dorfed just choice what dwarf you want to be out of the new people.
Well everybody has been dorfed, and here is what you guys are.
Gnorm just to let you know you are married to tevish.
Here i what the fortress looks like in stonesense.
(http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a558/danmanthedog/stonesense_zps2b29ec3c.png)(http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a558/danmanthedog/stonesense_zpsbef8aadd.png)
well my turn has come to an end thanks for watching me and get ready for Snow.
Have the year has gone by so far and yet we found no ores yet only pink jades, if it keeps up we wont be able to survive the attacks of the greenskins.
Suddenly I heard the sounds of rain on the surface of the fortress. Knowing all to well that this rain ill only last a bit I told everybody to make a well o we can collect the rain water.
Well I was looking for a good spot for the well Shadow comes running up to saying more o are dwarf family are here. Happy that we will have more hands to help build this fort I told hadow to get a welcome party fo the mass of dwarfs that are coming.
With everything set up for the new dwarfs I ran out to meet them, But to my horror only 2 dwarf came. Surprised I asked them where all the rest of the dwarfs are, they said that no one else wanted to come here.
Upset over the barely any new dwarf hands I try to to distract my self by asking where the bokaze is. High tells me he was hunting a eagle when he ran out of bolts so he decide to sleep next to the wounded eagle. Knowing all to well that bokaze will always be like that I brushed it off with out much thought.
After talking to high a female dwarf name gnora come yelling down the halls screaming about a caravan from the mountain home. I thought finally some good news we can get weapons and armor from the traders.
Not knowing to believe gnora I ran to where she saw them. When I came across the finally him i saw them, 3 great wagons filled with items that could only come from the mountain home. Inside the wagon A dwarf in a ilk green robe comes to me asking if this is fliermanor. I said yes it was and our trade deport is down the hill to the north. Before turning to return to the fort I heard a yell to the front of the wagon, I turn and saw Bokaze and jamcat running off with pieces of cloth screaming that its for the hospital.
We traded the caravan gems and stonecrafts for weapon and armor, and with the finale trading they left saying they will be back in a year.
After the caravan left I noticed that Shadow was able to tell the worth of items better then mot of us here, I asked him how he could tell the price of items so well. He said he was a broker back in the dwarf mountain home. Surprised at this I asked if he is still good at it which he replied of coarse. Knowing that the fort needed a broke i asked him if he could be the broke, he answered with a stern but happy yes.
Well laying awake I thought about the ending of the year, we only have one more year left before i must retire and let the a new overseer continue after me. Thinking through all the dwarfs seeing who could replace me one dwarf always returned to me, Snow why didn't I see it earlier he has great manger skills and I heard that hes a legendy miner now. He would be perfect to replace me.
It is my last day before retiring, Well looking for snow I heard a horrible scream from the entice of the fort. Running a fast as I could I arrived to the entice just in time to see CameraNerd Crushing a warthogs head in, But the warthog was different it didn't have any bones or meat it as just a pelt of fur. Confused I asked Camera whats happing he said that the dead body parts of animals are coming back to life. Knowing all to well that why this i happening I tell him that a necromancer has found are fort and is trying to destroy it.
After spreading the word about the necromancer I finally found Snow. I told him that it is my time to step down and that it is his time to run the fort. Not knowing what to say he just accepted with out much fuss. those ending my rein as overseer of fliermanon.
Okey Snow You need to find ores fast before a siege comes.
"Wvell m'lads! Ya herd ol' Dan I'm in charge o' dis mudhole naw!"
"Da sun haz burnt zee svahnna to ay dustay crisp! Wve won't find no wvater up 'ere, wve must dig deeper for water m'lads. If mah memories serv meh raight, clean cool wvater alwvays runs thru ze mushroom forests in zee underdark. Ay don't care eef ze caverns ar' filled to ze brim wvif blind crocadiles n' scruffy trolls-- Ay wvil jam 'eir skullz throu deir brainz eef need be, now strike ze earth!"
Snow cancelled the strip mining operation in favor of a more urgent goal: water. There were ore-less ways to deal with the greenskin plague but without water the outpost wouldn't last. The miner reprimanded whoever cried about random skeletal woodland animals harshly after having bravely dispatched one himself.
'Stupif distraczions' he disregarded them as and merely ordered the closing of a hole near the cellar with wooden planks and designated an area of the fort as a panic room where every dwarf should head at the sound of the alarm horn.
But alas the undead situation was indeed graver than it seemed.
The dwarves that were attacked claimed to have seen a human sneaking in the shadows commanding the rotting bones to rise against the living. There was a Necromancer in Fliemanor!
"Stanf guard ofer zat dump!" Fenrir ordered the militia to guard the boneyard.
"'Nd make sure ze stupif bones stay still 'n dead!" But the Necromancer snuck past the recruits' inexperienced eyes and soon the whole boneyard came back alive.
Outnumbered and poorly armored they stood little chance against a dozen or so skeletons rising all at once and the animated skin of a great horse. It took down Catten the sworddwarf immediately, breaking both his legs so he was mobbed and killed by the undead. Unable to save their companion and barely escaping with their own lives Tevish and Camera fled uphill to the fortress entrance where the rangers awaited with readied crossbows. The undead charged, but at different speeds depending on the deterioration (or complete absence) of their limbs. They went in one by one and were defeated by the two soldiers and the hail of bolts. Catten's broken body had crawled onto the scorched grassy hill to join the battle against his own companions but it too had fallen and now lied motionless besides the other corpses.
Fliermanor's first battle had been won, but at the terrible price of a sworddwarf's and an innocent baby's life; the baby had probably been lost in the confusion and found by the unliving. Snow Fenrir himself carved a graveyard out of the granite where the poor souls would be put to rest.
Whelp I am very disappointed by snow for not even replying or updating in so long, so I have decided to revert the save back to my time and let high max start his turn. So highmax let your turn start!!!!!!!!!
http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=7935]http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=7935]http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=7935 (http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=7935)
I know i said the time limit for a turn is 2 weeks but this is getting annoying because he has not message me why he has not updated at all lately.
Journal of Highmax, Miner
I was taking a stroll outside on a nice stroll on this fine new spring day, storing some stuff in the stockpile when I was approached by danmanthedog, our current expedition leader. He told me he had enough of the whole overseer job and wanted me to fill in for him for a year. He told me that I could still do what I did, which was dig, but I would manage most of the fort as I did so. I was about to tell him no, when he said there would be some salmon and longland beer in it for me. What could I do but not refuse my favorite things? I accepted almost instantly, asking when I should start. He told me now, and ran away dancing as if something glorious had been done. Maybe the idea of someone new taking over excited him? Or perhaps this job is too damn stressful? Nah, its probably that hes having a good day or something.
I took a quick survey of what is going on and I noticed something amiss: first, we have a population of sixteen and not everyone has a bedroom to themselves. Also, we have a shockingly small amount of wood. What are we, elves? get those trees cut on the double! I also noticed we need some nice offices and bedrooms for some of the nobles that will be assisting us. And I found just the spot to place them
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/Untitled-1_zps80dd17b1.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/Untitled-1_zps80dd17b1.png.html)
And then I go downstairs and notice the large amounts of areas we were told to mine out. I shake my head and cancel the orders. If we're looking for ores, why dig out when we need to dig down? I ordered just that also. And then I noticed: we have a water problem. No water means no washing. No washing means no clean wounds. No clean wounds means infection. Infection means dying. And I don't want to die. So I heard of deep underground deposits of fresh water for us, so I decided that we need to go deeper for that reason as well. I also got ready a great idea to help deal with anyone who doesn't seem friendly enough to us. After I set up some plans, I let the fortress get to work. And what happens? No one does the job smartly.
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/Falling_zpsa59e84db.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/Falling_zpsa59e84db.png.html)
The next person who says they got nothing to do is going to be put on medical duty. Hopefully there will be no more accidents like this in my time of overseeing. Lucky for me, I don't get to do the honors of being the one to carry snow to the hospital. Lucky for me, I saw someone to become our chief medical dwarf. Unlucky for the cook of course, since he got the honors. As I was about to run downstairs to go do some digging, I heard screams and ran upstairs. I saw that an armadillo corpse just got up and started attacking anything in sight. However, the soldiers were in sight so they got to get some action. They killed the corpse quite easily, but what frightens me is how the hell the thing got back up. I then realized our entire corpse and refuse stockpile is outside. I quickly ordered it to be brought in immediately and that we will deal with the horrible smell as soon as possible.
24th of Grantie, 127:
Nothing came back from the dead. I have our squad of three constantly on patrol for our cause of reanimation. I've been digging out out our noble quarters and I will be soon making my way digging down. I hope fenrir gets back on his feet, this job is a killer. It has also started raining, which is a nice change in this dry and hot weather. We also had a new addition to the outpost:
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/jamcatbaby_zps3b53dc72.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/jamcatbaby_zps3b53dc72.png.html)
Cute little baby. hope she grows up strong and healthy so we can have her work hard. Also, some migrants have arrived! This brings our population fo 16 to a total of 42. That's a lot of people. That menas more work! ANd more soldiers. I get a few people to work on my great and brilliant plan as the rest do odd jobs around the outpost
Ah man, i was about to say that my dwarf looks like he hasn't been doing anything at all, but it seems you already have a medical dwarf. :(
Cook is gonna be replaced. He insists on NOT healing people
Healing is not of use for him, cooking is all that is needed to keep a fortress alive. Hmm try using the bowyer for healing.
((Actually, he's fishing right now since some of the pools filled up.))
6th Slate, 127
Due to the incompetence of the cook, I decided to fire the cook for his neglecting of fenrir. I was able to do it so quickly because I passed by with him sitting idle as I grabbed something to drink. I yelled at him and a new cheesemaker became the new Chief Medical Dwarf. I also watched as Gnora gave birth to a baby girl also. I just hope they all grow up nice and healthy. I also saw that our food stores were running a little low, so I took a bunch of our useless animals and ordered them butchered. There is no purpose of having animals if we starve to death ourselves. The new hands are also putting themselves to work quite nicely, they already began to remove the outside stockpile and placed it in our new refuse/corpse pile in our outpost. I also noticed we have a wood furnace that is unused and I had a plan to use it to our advantage. I ordered a lot more trees cut down and decided after awhile, we'll have a wood stockpile built up. I also dug deeper and found hornblende, but its rather useless.
11th Slate, 127
A planter was about to go downstairs and started screaming.

She ran past me, pushing everyone out of her way until she got to a craftdwarfs shop. I hope she doesn't break anything. Also, we struck metal finally today! Its nothing special, but galena is an ore of silver if I recall. I'll have to ask the bookkeeper when I get back up. Wait, we don't HAVE a bookkeeper. On this realization, I appointed a fishery worker to become bookkeeper so we know what we have and what does what. Maybe we can get some order in this place for a change. I also ordered a room to be placed for his office. Maybe we can spruce it up a little bit after he finishes telling us what we have. I also struck marble today, which is a nice change. I will be ordering a special stockpile to be placed near the workshops once we're done digging some of this out. And also, our new Chief Medical Dwarf has done a miracle: fenrir is back on his feet! Although he complains about headaches more often now and his head seems to have a few bumps where his poorly paced bandages are, but that's ok! We got our miner back and we're all set! Cameranerd also complained as he went to bed about long patrol duty and looked unhappy because he didn't have a proper room. I decided that the digging deeper can wait until we get our bedrooms finished. I grabbed my pick and began to dig out the new rooms with the bandaged up fenrir.

Our farmer friend came out with a funny little trinket with the strangest name:

I question the sanity of our people...

We discovered the reason for the revival of our dead. Unfortunatley, it is exactly as I expected:

Looks like our army of three now has a time to shine. They chased the necromancer across the fields and up the hills. The maceman, unhappy and angry, charged with full force, smacking the human in the head. To his dismay, it was not fatal, and the necromancer fled for his life. The maceman continued his onslaught where he was joined by his two allies. The swordman slashed away at the necromancer's legs and upper body, and then his head, cutting a large gash into his head. The maceman, fueled with anger and rage, swung his mace down and the necromancer knew no more. On the bright side of this, the maceman wasn't unhappy anymore.
((more to come, gonna figure out the problem with my photo uploading site...))
9th Flesite, 127: Plans
Late spring. The last coming days before the intense heat becomes more intense. This will mean we have to get water soon. I also noticed we need more plump helmets and wild strawberries to make our booze. Hopefully, we can get the problems we have now fixed with our decent sized population. I got plans to have a thriving outpost by the end of this year. Today, a planter gave birth to a baby boy, and the new nobles rooms are finished being dug out, so our engravers can get to work on them now.
13th Felsite, 127: The Seige part 1
The soldiers stationed over by the gate came to me and told me we got a serious problem:
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/uhoh_zpsd7df37fb.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/uhoh_zpsd7df37fb.png.html)
I told them to grab their arms and everyone must run into the mines to hide from this menace. If all else fails, we can hide there while the dead leave us alone. I don't doubt the skills of our three man army, but we're outnumbered here. There is already at least 6 of them outside and our soldiers are only three strong. Our traps can't hold them off for long, but perhaps we can find a way to stop them from advancing... When I told everyone to get inside, for some reason, danmanthedog and the outpost liason started having a meeting. I don't know why though. Then he comes up to me with this long list of random crap, saying its what the mountainhomes want from us and will pay dearly for it. I look at him and smack him with the paper rolled up and tell him to get to safety. I then open and look at it and notice they want mostly headgear, anvils and... Cheese... Where are those cheesemakers?
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/agreement_zpse538b48c.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/agreement_zpse538b48c.png.html)
17th Felsite, 127: Outpost Liason is a brave bastard (or perhaps stupid?)
The meeting was over and danmanthedog and the liason said farewell. Then, he asked to get past the barricaded door. Tevish Szat the militia commander looked at him weird and moved some of the barricades to let him past. Cameranerd laughed a little as he went past and was greeted by dead outside the door. Lucky for mr liason, they were slow, but that didn't stop them from going after him. I started a head count and saw that we had a ffew of us still outside. I felt terrible since these were new people, but sacrifices had to be made. And apparently, we have thieves stealing bolts from us. They wont get past the doors thankfully, but some buckets are still outside. Nontheless, we can remake posessions, not lives.
22nd Felsite, 127: Things get worse
I just heard that a werelizard just came onto the fields of battle. I hope that our defenses can last against such a monster with the leigons of the dead.
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/werelizard_zps2d3452b3.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/werelizard_zps2d3452b3.png.html)
I hope he's with us in this siege; I hate to see what happens if they work together.
23rd Felsite, 127: Strange Tidings
Well, things just turned a little for the better I hope. We're all downstairs now, with the exception of one random farmer running up and down the stairs giving me updates on what's happening upstairs. He told me as he ran back down the stairs, he heard fighting, but it was the sound of flesh tearing from claws and bones being broken, not steel scraping bone or hacking of flesh. I think we just gained an unlikely ally if this is what I think it is.
24th Felsite, 127: The Fighting Stops
The runner came up and told me he saw from a small crack in the wall, the werelizard killed two zombies and then transformed into a human. The human fought off another zombie but kept trying to run away, fighting stark naked and fleeing for his life. He got away, but no zombies were slain after his transformation.
1st of Hematite: The Soldiers need rest
The runner came to me and told me that the dead are wandering about still, but the soldiers looked hungry and thirsty. Someone forgot to hand them water skins and backpacks. I put that on my list of things to do for the fortress once the siege is lifted. I fear that we may have to open the gates and let them come as we fight our way through the legions of the dead. I'm going to hold a small meeting in the next coming days to find out our course of action.
((Still surprised about the siege. Glad we didn't have a disaster excluding the soldiers. Who's up for some redorfing?))
11th of Malachite, 127: Answers
More were found dead, and we found the herbalist's husband. He tried to fight the dead but died in the process. We found another wounded, a presser, who was still conscious despite his broken leg. I talked to him before he passed out about what happened. He told me that they all came out and the dead started to close in on them. They ran out and killed about four total. Then things turned for the worse. The soldiers separated and fought some of the corpses alone, and then people began to drop dead or wounded. He was unlucky and had his leg busted. He crawled over to a drained water basin and hid there in fear of the dead coming for him. He watched as the dead came by him, walking towards the gate where the others had went. He saw Kib, the herbalist, slay several before the zombie tore her apart. Cameranerd stood ready as the others died around him and the dead closed in on him. Szat was unseen from where he laid down, and the farmer dropped from his wounds. Then, cameranerd slayed three before the dead overwhelmed him. They then marched towards the gate, where he heard the traps go off. Then, he dragged himself a fair distance towards the gate but was found during the search for survivors. He then passed out on me, and I shed a tear. They fought bravely and couldn't keep their lives. I decided we're going to make armor and weapons as soon as we can, and prepare our soldiers for future sieges.
22nd of Malachite, 127: Salvation!
I was told more tantrums were being thrown today. So many people are thirsty now since our alcohol stores are low now. Soon, we'll run out of that too. We need more farm plots and we need more this and more that. I was getting too fed up with it all, and I needed to blow off some steam, so I grabbed my pickaxe and dug straight down. I didn't care what happened, I just needed to get away. I dug and I dug. I then hit what sounded like hollow rock. I tapped at it a few times and took a great swing and lo and behold:
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/cavern1_zpse70d3780.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/cavern1_zpse70d3780.png.html)
I was so shocked. I ordered the section I found walled off as I decided to dig closer to the ground. I dug a little bit deeper and found the cavern extended underneath me. I ordered more walls and a door as I hit the ground. I was surprised when I walked out and saw this vast lake of water before me. I dropped to my knees and cried with joy; I found our salvation and our savior. Gods be praised! I crawled over to the water and took my hands and drank. I felt ashamed using my dirty hands to drink from this great lake, but I couldn't help myself. I took massive gulps and then brought my whole face to the water and drank more. I was still crying as this happened, I literally wanted to cry and sing and dance at what I found.

So highmax what month are you at so far and did you figure out pump thing?
((im still trying it out, I got a room that it would work well in (the saferoom I had ideas for). As for month, it just hit autumn, so limestone))
7th of Limestone: Progress
I just finished the plans for a well under the saferoom. It should be safe if all goes well. Now we just need food stores down there and we can be set once I have the mechanics build us a floodgate to seal it off from the inside. I've also finally dug out the new stockpile rooms for wood and etc. Hopefully, we can get our work done faster. As for our food problem, we're running low on booze, but we just finished making more crops, so we should have no problem with hunger and thirst in the near future. Maybe we can actually stop calling this an outpost and one day call it a home. Digging out the pumps that will be bringing us water will be long and hard work, but thankfully, the water source is right near me, so I can grab water at any time.
19th of Limestone, 127: Migrants and More Progress (and some problems)
We were told more people were coming to the outpost today. Hopefully, we can get some real soldiers now. The digging is going well, and our coffin production is finally moving. We do have one problem though. Remember that herbalist who said she wanted to fight? Well...
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/bitchisback_zps6e99aa52.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/bitchisback_zps6e99aa52.png.html)
This is an extreme problem...
23rd of Limestone, 127: My own problems
Well, the pump stack plan is working well so far, but unfortunately, that ghost is following ME of all people to haunt. I'm sorry I let you run to your death! I'm so sorry! Please stop haunting me... I need sleep... The bookkeeper also threw tantrums today, yelling at me about something wrong with the numbers. Then a child threw a tantrum. And then as I'm digging to ignore it all, I found some silver near the pump area. I dug around and found emeralds. Now if only we could get some iron...
2nd of Sandstone, 127: Madmanthedog?
Our expedition leader had a strange look in his eye as he passed all those he knew. He grabbed a craftsdwarf shop and started grabbing odd things. Stone, leather and lead were what we saw him take, and then he started making something. What, I don't know... We also started creating a smelter for our silver gear that I will be ordering into standard issue from now on. Then, danthemandog came out and handed me the weirdest thing ever:
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/toyboat_zpsd74f9f94.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/toyboat_zpsd74f9f94.png.html)
The name was strange and what was stranger was what was on the object:
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/intricatecreature_zpsc7c59aca.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/intricatecreature_zpsc7c59aca.png.html)
I told him congratulations and put it away so it wouldn't be stolen. We also had a burial today for the two warriors cameranerd and szat. Some wept, others sat in silence. Me, I drunk told a speech that apparently no one could remember... Not even me, but it must've been a really horrible one since one of their relatives came and hit me the next morning. More burials will be done soon hopefully; we got lots of bodies to account for.
20th of Sandstone, 127: Loot? What loot?
I was told today that the human caravan DID indeed leave us some goods, but we never found out because it was forbidden and hidden amongst the trade depot. I told the people to grab everything we can; the humans didn't grab it on their way out, so I don't think they would be missing it if we just took it all. Oh, the digging for the pump stack is nearly done, however, we just need to channel out some of the spots and we're all set. Then comes the hard part: figuring out what goes where with the pump mechanics
((I really have no idea how to make them. Pipes and screw trap? What is this?))
16th of Timber, 127: MORE Uninvited Guests
We're finally getting the parts for the pump stack made. Our only problem is that we need to find ways to power it up... All 50 z levels... I think we need to increase our production... I also guess this won't be fixed by the time my year of overseeing is completed. I may have discovered the water and saved us from the lack of water, but the one who will take over after a year will be the true hero, the one who completes the pump stack and makes the well that will give us water beyond our greatest hopes and dreams. We also found a bunch of thieves trying to steal our stuff, but they ran away. As we went to move outside, a trap sprang and we caught someone new:
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/nothernecro_zps2a378005.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/nothernecro_zps2a378005.png.html)
I TOLD the others my trap gate and moving the corpses indoors was a good idea! Did they believe me? No! Now whos the smart one!?
Later entry:
Another Necromancer was captured today. What is this? The necromancer Olympics? The herbalist was also finally put to rest today. A brave woman who fought valiantly turned out to have a greater courage then most of us here today. I just hope she doesn't get remembered as a pestering ghost. That makes almost all of our great heroes buried.
5th of Moonstone: Progress!
I finally put down the pick, and picked up the sword. I now train vigilantly to become a great swordsdwarf. I also, that smelter I ordered to be built? Well, we had no one to smelt the ores, so it just stood there without any work done. Well, luckily, this cheese maker had walked by me to my training and I told him he's the new smithy and he is going to work the forges. He gave a groan and a whine, but went to it almost immediately. Hopefully, silver weapons will be a nice upgrade from our copper and scrap gear. Some are even using daggers, which is kind of strange, but what can we do? Also, we got miasma clouds spewing near the training barracks. Why is this happening? I don't really know
22nd of Moonstone: Problems!
Jamcat dropped dead today. The sheriff told me he was scared to death by a ghost. I asked him how she knew that from just looking at him, and then she told me that she watched the whole thing. Oh....
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/scaredtodeath_zps9ffd38b2.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/scaredtodeath_zps9ffd38b2.png.html)
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/kadolthemurderousghost_zps05007c6b.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/kadolthemurderousghost_zps05007c6b.png.html)
Well shit... Lets get him buried ASAP! Also, we have a baby kinda just crawling about everywhere... I think it was Jamcats...
25th of Moonstone: That Explains A Lot!
I peeked in on danmanthedog and the outpost liason as they conducted a meeting in the dining hall. The expedition leader kept emphasizing on getting iron, but the outpost liason just looked at him funny everytime he said it. Finally, I stepped in and I asked him if we could ask for some iron anvils at least for melting down. The outpost liason laughed and said heartily:
"Lad, we dun hav' any iron. Its a mytery ta me why this lad ere' keeps askin' me fer it.
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/meeting_zps81e949ea.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/meeting_zps81e949ea.png.html)
I hit dan in the head with my sword pommel which did almost nothing since I'm still trying to get used to the weight of the blade. I'm not even a novice yet with this thing, so its still difficult for me. I took over the meeting more or less and asked for as much steel as he can carry on his pack mules and leather... LOTS of leather. And some tetrahedryte for some copper and silver for traps. Also, the leather is specifically bear and wolf leather. Why? Because our enemies will tremble before us if we wear animal hides of ferocious animals. I also asked for coke and charcoal, and most importantly, food and booze. Dan finalized the documents as I heard the next coffin was finished, so I ordered that the ghost's body be buried. We don't want murder killing our last amounts of people, as miserable and thirsty and hungry as we are, we're strong and hardy. We endured the dead, we fought Kobald invasions, and we captured and killed Necromancers and their brood were slain quickly. We are the Dwarves of Fliermanor, notorious and brave. We're tired but strong, more then before, and we don't fear the dead. We will turn this place into a fortress of greatness and might, and we will be the envy of all nations and all will bow down before us! Our coffers will be lined with gold and silver, and our halls will be lined with marks of our history and our great endurance. Nothin will make us falter!
28th of Moonstone: Finally Laid Rest
The speardwarf that murdered Jamcat was laid to rest today. Now we just need to bury the other... Armok only knows slain.
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/laidtorest_zps342d02e3.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/laidtorest_zps342d02e3.png.html)
Also, I was approached by dan again who handed me a paper with what the mountainhomes wanted from us. I sent it off to the bookkeeper for a reminder to whoever takes over for me.
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/tradegoods_zpsd0c0aca3.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/tradegoods_zpsd0c0aca3.png.html)
17th of Opal, 127: Sköll
I have been practicing more and more with this sword, and I have gotten a good feel for it. I think I will keep it with me for awhile. I even gave it a name: Sköll.
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/attatched_zps57573901.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/attatched_zps57573901.png.html)
The rest of the outpost seems pretty quiet. Then again, we're a population of only 39. Fenrir has taken all jobs of mining in my absence, meaning more work for him. He'll be digging down more, looking for some magma for our forges. Hopefully, whoever succeeds me can figure out screw pumps more easily then I can; I can't make heads or tails of these things.
28th of Opal, 127: Celebrations are Early
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/party_zpscdea7ffa.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/party_zpscdea7ffa.png.html)
Timeless bob started a party in celebration for the things that happened over the past year. The discovery of the water in the caverns, the success of the traps and our army, our survival, and especially, for food on our plates and bellies full of booze. He also made a toast to me saying that we needed someone to help us get through tough times, and I never faltered. I told them all I would be retiring from my position as overseer, and handing it off to someone else. Who, I don't know yet. I told them by the end of the year, they will know. I also began to write a list of the things we will have to do in the coming months, cause we kinda need to get some orders done that I cannot do in my month left of time. I also took a walk to the caged stockpile and saw some interesting things:
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/cages_zpsaacbc61e.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/cages_zpsaacbc61e.png.html)
Are war monkeys a possibility? It would be rather interesting having our primitive friends giving us aid in combat.
14th of Obsidian, 127: And Thus it Begins Again
A few people gave us a warning shout as they spotted more undead marching towards our gates. I locked the doors again, but I did not order everyone to the safehouse. We don't want another incident like before, but we can last now that we have a working indoor endless supply of food and booze. We can hold out... Can we?
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/again_zps7cf79f50.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/again_zps7cf79f50.png.html)
And Fenrir, I swear to god, if you say we found cobalite one more time, I'm shoving my sword through your gullet.
28th of Obsidian, 127: Final Entry as Overseer
Well, we all knew it would happen sooner or later. I had wished it would've happened at a better and happier time. We're still under siege and our army is nowhere near strong enough to take on an army of the dead and their two necromancer leaders. There is an estimated 32 undead following them. In the meantime, as they wait for us to open the gates, they set up camp, waiting for us to come out.
(http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n593/highmax28/camp_zpsc8fadff6.png) (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/highmax28/media/camp_zpsc8fadff6.png.html)
We're at a standstill again, just biding our time. I'm leaving this journal for the next overseer so they can figure the job out more easily. All my time will be dedicated to my training, and since I'm now officially a novice swordsdwarf, I can officially say I can kind of fight now. I just really hope we don't have anything bust down our doors. I also hope we don't have any trouble with wood stockpiles, especially since we don't have any access to the outside right now. Jamcat's baby died also today, making our population to 38 instead of 39. Yeah, we're small in numbers, but hopefully, one day, we can change that. I have a dream of seeing this place as busy and wealthy as the mountainhomes. I would stand guard as Szat leads us to glorious charges for victory and death. Today is not that day, neither does tomorrow look like that, but someday, it will happen. Fenrir keeps digging, but still no luck with the magma. Everyone else is either idle or hard at work with something.
To you, noble reader and Overseer, and my successor, this is what needs to be done during the year 128:
- Finish the pump system. The well is crucial to our survival
- Train us military dwarves
- Break the siege somehow
- Execute the necromancers before you break the siege to show an example to the two necromancer captains that lie outside our doors
- Make lots of wooden cages, we have a decent amount hanging about outside
- DO NOT EVER REMOVE THE STOCKPILE WITH ALL OF OUR CORPSES AND REFUSE! Its indoors for a reason
- Complete the drawbridge by placing an actual bridge in front of our gate to protect any merchants that arrive. Only open it when they say they're getting ready to leave
- Build some watchtowers for our crossbow dwarves that we don't have yet
- USe the leather I ordered for clothes, waterskins and backpacks. My clothes are destroyed as is, and I rather not run into battle stark naked
- Speaking of which, try to get us some basic armor. We got some metal bars from the trade caravan, but not enough to arm us to the teeth. I recommend sending out a squad of 10, fully armored, out to fight if possible. The zombies aren't terribly good if the soldiers stay close to the gates.
- Kill the necromancers first
- Above all else, get us a working source of water.
- Reccomendation: Keep my squad of two out of combat for the next few battles. We're not strong, and we're not the best, but give us time to train, and we'll be the best damn soldiers you got.
I write this off now, and I sign in my own blood to prove that this is all my writing. Our fortunes rise and fall together, o reader.

Hmm. Maybe these necromancers ARE haxxors, after all.
Anyway, onto the tale...

The Book of Shadow
Chapter 1: Besieged
Well. Today Highmax called me to his office. I was worried that he was unhappy with my trading work, before the undead siege, but to my surprise, he just promoted me to overseer! I was somewhat surprised, but promised to do my best.
I decided to begin weapons training today. Unfortunately, the fort’s only anvil was left outside, and we have no spare metal weapons, so I am just working on unarmed combat at the moment.
We had a few spare crossbows lying around, so to assist in the battle against the undead, I ordered a few hunters to start shooting the zombies nearest the gate, through some newly carved forifications.
A mason was taken by a fey mood today. Fortunately, he did not demand anything outrageous, and kept his sanity as he created Relieveflowers the haunt of fungi, a phyllite armor stand.
(http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y388/_Shadowhammer_/RawAdamantinePraisetheMiners_zps48868c8b.png)This will certainly aid us in our fight against the undead. We must take care, though, that we do not awaken a greater foe…
A tragedy has occurred. While the new marksdwarf squad was attempting to clear out the zombies at our gates, the front door was left open. One of the marksdwarves died, but his lost life allowed us to correct the error without losing the whole fortress.
The undead siege is officially over. A brief review of loses for both sides:
~40 zombies captured/slain
2 necromancers captured
1 dwarf killed
Well Im doing stone sense of the fort and the fort is in jammbles. I cant tell any thing or whats what I mean gosh.

The Journal of Commander W0lfBane
Day: Unknown
I only have a little bit of time before they find me!.... Oh god it was horrible. I am hiding under a waterfall to lure them of my scent. It has been a week since the battle and i am still being hunted like a dog. They are all dead! I didn't personally see them die but it know. The vague outline of their corpses moving confirms my suspicions. I have lost track of all time and nearly of my sanity. I must write to calm my nerves.
It all started as soon as we arrived. We had been sent as reinforcements from the distress messages we have been hearing. I chose the best men i could find. Myself, my friends Highmax and the Dwarfy One, and our best crossbow Dwarves. NOW THEY ARE ALL DEAD! * the rest of the page is littered with runny ink and tear stains*
Upon our arrival we all noticed that something was wrong. I made the order for everyone to arm up. And then it all happened simultaneously. One of the WAR dogs barked and sprinted out headlong. Highmax and the dwarfy one ran to catch it. We were going to need all the muscle we could muster. No sooner had they descended down the canyon had we heard all the moaning of the dead and the cackling of the necromancers. We couldn't even arm ourselves before we had to fight.
Battle was joined we began punching and hitting and even biting. Danmanthedog made a good show of it while he still could.
Down in the canyon things were looking badly. Although my two friends were fighting bravely together they were being surrounded rather quickly. It was only a matter of time. before...
Which causes the dwarfy one to be surprised.
But once he regains his senses from the screams of the dying danmanthedog he vows vengeance on all things dead and living and procdeeds to break many many collar bones
(http://i.imgur.com/SS7JrNA.png)
eventually he is subdued by the ennormity of enemies before him and perishes like a true dwarf should.
From then on everything became a blurr i only saw brief glimpses of things.
Like tevish punching the jaw of a particularly large skeleton and teeth and head flying everywhere.
(that is all teeth by the way)
I remember him yelling TEN for some reason.
I remember poor Gnorm being torn apart from aaaah..... i can't bring myself to say the words. I have drawn a picture instead.
I remember fighting the body of the overseer i was supposed to help
(http://i.imgur.com/H3b0RG2.png)
But all of this matters not. Soon i will be dead and i will join their ranks. I will be nothing but dust in the wind. But when they find me they won't find me a broken dwarf. NO They must work harder to break me. Other dwarves will succeed where I failed. My hopes are at least that this journal will help in that manner. Learn from this before you set out. Now i must go die a dwarf!

So szat or any body want to take a crack at setting up the fortress it means free turn but you have to get it up and running for szat okay.[/s] DONT LOOK AT THESE THESE LIE AND WRONG.
So how do you guys like the new name for fort.
Also one of the dwarfs is a swords dwarf so you know make him grab armor and weapon
Hammer/mace would've been better for bludgeoning the undead
yeah its not undead that you have to worry about this place is a sinister area so guess what that means.
but im worried about it because it has flux stone and deep metal well the areas next to it which i played on had metal, which would have special clouds in it so the weather could be better or worse yay fun.
This is Danmanthedog's Journal, It is finely crafted out of walrus leather. It is studded with dog bones, It is covered in wolf teeth. On it is a picture of mussels.

It has been two months since i have last seen the mountain off, Instead I am forced to help build a crummy fort in a haunted glacier. 10 of us started this trip now only 7 remain, Me our siege operator, Highmax the captain of the guard back at the mountain home., Timeless our bone carver (I don't trust him i heard story's about he killed his brother to make a crown when he was a kid), Bokaza our miner, Th4DwarfY is our wood worker, Gnorm Our chief dwarf, and finally Tevish szat our mason.

We finally arrived at the location of the new fort, and there i nothing out here but snow and ice. Ah well can't do any thing now so i told everybody to dig a livable place for now and to put up walls in case of creatures. I also tell highmax that it is time for him to pick up his sword again to fight again. Well It seems that we are not alone on this icy deathtrap, Wolfs and lot of them to came from the north. Slowly but certainly they will be coming for us, so I tell High to suit up and to take all the dogs and head them off before its to late.(http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a558/danmanthedog/dwarf%20fort/icewolf_zps531b0223.png)

From the safety of the walls i watch highmax and his charge into battle. Problem was dogs cant beat wolfs in head on battle so I watched
two dogs be ripped apart by the pack of wolf, But the dog's death some how fueled a primal rage with the dogs and high leading them to destory the wolfs with little loses.(http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a558/danmanthedog/dwarf%20fort/dogdeath_zpsbccd4776.png)(http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a558/danmanthedog/dwarf%20fort/wolfchase_zps0e4964fe.png)

It has been some time since we arrived and all ready Highmax shows sign of anger and great voidness of sorrow. Not knowing if he will be okay I ask Gnorm to watch over him in case of the voidness takes a hold of him, half of the fortress has been cut out. Knowing all to well that if we don't pull him out of the grasp of the void it will consume him fully.

More wolfs to the north of the fort, they seem to appeared out of nowhere. They had a looked of killing in their eyes, and they were looking straight at me. But out of my corner of my eye i saw what they were really looking at.. Th4DwArf. That fool went out side to pick up a cat corpse, before i could call to him the wolfs charged to him, Panicking i raced back down the fort slapped Highmax and told to man up and save Th4DwArf. He charged with the remaining of his dogs out of the but then suddenly stop and didn't move, I yelled to him to hurry but it was to late the wolfs ripped Th4DwArf to apart But he did not go down with out a fight and took at least one wolf to the viod with him. I remember my father with something just short of fondness. He always guided me, helped me. He was my light and warmth. But then the ice wolves took him, and I had to fight fire with fire, ice with ice. I became like them, and through that beat them. I have two of their pelts, their father-murdering pelts, hanging in my room. But killing them didn’t stop the ice. I don’t know what can, and I do not care. The ice is part of me; I am the ice.
I got a message from a shivering boy. He came slipping and sliding through the halls, falling over and knocking against walls. In his hand he clutched a letter. I calmly walked sure-footed over the icy ground and prised it from his stiff hands. “Thank you” I said, baring my teeth with what I hoped was warmth. The boy shivered all the more, and I let the smile die. Foolish child. I walked away and left him to crawl hesitantly back the way he came.
In the letter I found the following from the Fort archivist.

and also received the news that our broker had a baby boy. I joined in with the celebrations, and stood watching the party. I smiled at anyone who came near. For some reason, a large circle of space gradually grew around me. I wasn’t bothered. When the party ended, I left and went to my room, staring with crystalline hatred at the pelts of the wolves. A death to their entire ilk! And to Highmax…The traitor amongst us. As day fades, I sit in a chair, watching the pelts, thinking on how to get my revenge on him. My thoughts move slowly, but they get there eventually, like a glacier tearing apart the hull of a ship. Towards dawn, I suddenly smile, and lie backwards. I fall asleep dreaming stony dreams of my plans.

Two interlopers in the one day! Migrants pour into the fort, exceeding our bed capacity. With reluctance order a new bed wing, under advice of the Councillors. I do not understand why; the dogs could easily sleep amongst the ice boulders. But what came next gave even my Councillors shock; A beast from the depths. I have no concern for it. Let it come! I will pit the strength of winter against it. My Councillors seem anxious about my expression, so I straighten my face from its scowl. But they will see yet; they will all see.

Ever since I was a child, my father would tell me tales of the things in the depths. Cool diamonds the size of your fist, sparkling emeralds jutting from the wall. I want to find these things, so I order the miners to dig away from the comfort of the tundra and snow, and delve towards the bottom of the world itself. Even if I have to pass through this land of water and turgid vegetation, I will. Nothing will stand in the way of the mining operations! My father would have wanted it, I‘m sure. Why else would he tell me such things, if not for me to look for them. He wanted them, so I’ll get him gems the like the world has never seen.

I stand panting in my room. The fur pelts are still there, the walls of ice still stand in resolute positions. But it has changed, I have changed. The world is different. It feels as if my veins are only now holding blood, my entire universe has swung upon its axis and swung me with it. Everything seems to shake; the walls, the floors. With a cry, I fall to the ground, writhing on the icy floor. The cold pierces me. As my fingers claw the floor, I recall what happened. I was with a miner, inspecting a lump of see through rock which could have been diamond. It hadn’t been. I harshly ordered the miner back to work, and pointed to the ground. With a scared expression, he swung his pick. It hit the floor in a spray of miniscule stone chips. I felt the coldness well up in me, his inability driving it on. With a roughened fist, I backhanded him. He flew through the air and landed in a lump some distance away. I looked at him dispassionately. He twitched, and I looked away. I picked up his pickaxe.
It pounded into the ground as I swung it, using the ice to stiffen my sinew and muscles. I punched holes into the ground as I worked, muscles straining with the effort. Where before the miner had thrown up mere fragments of rock, my swings had hewn entire stones from the floor. Some time during this, I heard a faint scuffing noise as the miner rose to his feet. He started to talk to me in angry tones. I ignored him, venting my coldness into the rock and shattering it. My body was slick with sweat. He laid a hand on my shoulder, still speaking with heat in his voice. I turned slowly around, and fixed my stare upon him. He stood staring at me in defiance. I narrowed my eyes, and his hand trembled. Whatever he saw there broke him, and he ran up the stairs shouting curses at me. With a wheezing, grinding laugh I turned back to my work.
Many hours passed, marked only by the size of tunnel I had made. Eventually, my muscles grew tired and each swing was a strain. I kept at it, keeping my father in mind. He would be so proud of me. It was with that thought that I swung that pick for the last time, and broke through. A red light bathed my face, and I screamed out in agony. The heat seared my face, blinded me. It seemed to melt into my soul, and lit a fire there. The pain was excruciating. It felt like I was on fire. I passed out.
In the darkness of my unconscious mind I could still see that fire. It roiled and burned, seared and melted. And then it gathered to a greatness and took the form of a face, a face which I can barely recall. It was as if the fire was the only face I had ever seen, the only face which had a right to be seen. It opened its mouth and spoke into me, my entire existence rocked to the sound. “I AM THE FIRE THAT OPPOSES YOUR ICE. MY NAME IS NOT RELEVANT, THOUGH YOU MAY KNOW IT ALREADY. I HAVE RECEIVED YOU FATHER’S SOUL, AND SAW IT TO BE GOOD. THE FIRST THING HE DID WAS ASK ME TO BE GOOD TO YOU. HE WAS A REMARKABLE MAN; I HAD HIGH HOPES FOR HIM. BUT HE IS DEAD, AND YOU CARRY HIS BLOOD. SO I GIVE YOU A GIFT. THE GIF OF WARMTH; USE IT WISELY, OR DIE USING IT.” The face vanished, taking the darkness with it. I woke with a gasp, as if rising from a deep place under the sea; and then I ran, stumbling, crying. Slipping on the ice floors until I reached my rooms. And here I am now, letting the heat take me, guide me. Consume me.

I have gotten over the pain of the fire, but the flame itself is still there. I feel it burning and pulsing inside me like a second heart, it almost is so strong that I believe it could melt the entire fort around me. As it is, it stops me being ice. Good riddance, I say. I still shake when I think back to some of the things which I had done, what I was planning to do to Highmax. And here we come to the problem. While I know much of my ire was unfounded, he still did not help my father, but stood by and watched. I cannot allow this to go unpunished, but he controls much of the army. I have replaced my coldness towards him with a burning hatred, and have found myself unable to do anything but wait, and watch. When we pass in the halls he smiles and nods at me respectfully, but I still see that glimmer in his eye. It reminds me of me, when I was encased in winter. The Sun save us from him ever gaining control!
“Alarms! Death in the Deeps! The beasts have come. Women, children; HIDE. They come, they come! Curse the last overseer! Who makes gates without levers? Curse him! They simply walked into the fort. Men, to the deeps! We must stop this threat to our homes, our families! March with me, for your very lives depend on it!” The troops who had been milling in a heap now rally to me, and fall in to my step. “Come! To the deeps! There are beasts in the deeps!” We march downwards to the shriek of the women and children, a long column of death. I grin. The beasts don’t know what is coming.
We walked through the icy halls, and then descended into the rock. Our ribbon of steel wound its way down…down….down. I remember the last time I took this route, the time when my old life was seared out of existence. I imagine again the feel of flames licking me, and shudder. I feel tempted to call off the march, but I don’t think even I can stop it now. We march on, an unstoppable avalanche of Dwarves. As we stride through the lower levels faces peak from around corners, and seeing what is coming their faces set in steely determination. Miners stop their operations and join us, becoming one with us. The avalanche increases in size. At the head of the Mining Company walks Lor, their leader and director.
We come upon the first of the Beasts, Forgotten since the dawn of time. It raises its snouted head from its kill, one of the haulers. Its head is smeared in blood as it roars its defiance. We roll onwards, and a gleam of fear passes through its eyes. It puffs up, body bloating outwards. Then, it releases a storm of dust, a huge steaming cauldron. The troops stumble, and then move inexorably onwards. Dwarf and mist hit each other, cover each other. The mist covers my vision; I can barely see three paces in front of me. Strange shapes boil out of the whiteness, then melt back in. At one point I see a wing, leathery and black. When I follow it, it fades back into the mist. I stumble about until I reach the end of the mist. As the thin tendrils give up their grip on me, I see Highmax standing there. With him is a good quarter of the military. They do not move, only stare at the mist, and listen to the sounds of destruction. They are smiling, smiling with grins as twisted as themselves. I feel the flame rise in me again, that burning brand of anger. I walk up to Highmax and stick my face close to his. I can see each whisker of his beard and feel his damp, clammy breath on my skin. His grin fades. “What are you doing here, Highmax. The beast is back that way,” I say with a sharp jerk of my head towards the cloud of mist.
He looks uncertain. “We were…going after the other beast, Overseer, the one behind this one. I gathered my men to…kill the other one.”
“Well let’s get going then, Highmax. There is no need to wait.” I withdraw from him and stalk down the hallway, Highmax’s men following behind me like a pair of wings fanning out on either side. I stifle a smile of victory. I am at the head, and Highmax is following behind. He effectively gave me control of his troops, for the time being at least. Ah, how I long for the day when I can part his head from his shoulders! One thing at a time, though.
We go onwards and find the Beast. Githu, some of the guards have named it. It is in the shape of a deer, but its heart is evil and it is armoured with scales. I charge forward, a war cry on my lips: “FOR FLIERMANOOOOOR”. The deer looks up, startled, and starts to charge to meet me, lithe muscles moving beneath its skin. Its horns are aimed for my chest. 10 feet. 8 Feet. 4 Feet. I know the next few seconds will spell my doom, and the blood of my ancestors, of my father, will once again stain the ice. Funny, I always thought I would die of some natural cause like old age. Failing that, I would have liked to charge at a great beast of towering muscles and incomprehensible strength, staring it in its eye as it ends me, and I end it. And yet here I am, charging a bloody deer. The warmth in my heart weakens with that thought, then surges forward again. I will take this down with me, even if it is my last action. 2 feet.
Suddenly, a blur flashes in front of my eyes, a pair of blades parting the air in front of me, driving Githu off. Highmax stands before me, blades held up before him. His face is twisted into a rictus snarl of hate. Githu stops with a sceech of rage, and I stumble to a halt. Githu’s nostrils flare, and he bares sharpened teeth at Highmax, who doesn’t move. The troops flow on either side of him, a tide of steel, and begin hacking at the Forgotten Beast’s sides. Blood arcs from it, and all is covered in red, slimy gore. With a grin, I join in, feeling the hot blood seep into my clothes, my hair…even my skin. Soon, I am drenched in it. Even while the fight is going on, I can’t help but look at Highmax. His face is lifted upwards in rapture, eyes closed. A smile spreads across his face like oozing ink. My axe swings, and hacks a leg off, but the beast still attacks. It was horrible, bucking and convulsing. The pain only seemed to make it more violent.
A noise to the side, like a savage growling sound. I look to Highmax again, and his teeth are bared. With a deep throated growl which pierces the din of battle and the distant explosions of mist, he lunges forwards, straight for the scaled throat of the deer. His teeth penetrate the hard outer layer and rip the throat out. The deer convulses once more, then drops; dead. I stare in shock..He just tore its throat out with his teeth! Truly, I will have to be careful dealing with this one. He seems more like a beast than the felled deer.

The Nausea Epidemic has gone, all are sound again. Thank the gods. For many days the ground was slick with vomit, and none thought it would leave. Worst effected was Blademan, who still runs through the halls and paints them green. He has yet to get better, I do not know if he will.

I sit in my room and glare with suppressed rage at the pelts of the wolves that killed my father. My anger at them is enormous, but not all consuming. With a sigh I turn back to the desk in front of me. When my thoughts were chilled I didn’t understand. I didn’t even think of anyone else. But now I know that a personal hunt for vengeance isn’t possible. We are running out of food, and Highmax is good, if somewhat insane, as a defence mechanism. Our stocks of booze are decreasing, and I dread to think on what will happen if they go. With another sigh I sign the order, and a Dwarf rushes in, snatches it up and carries it off to a farmer. We’re building a farm in the caverns, now that it is clear of Forgotten Beasts. By all things good and warm, I hope no more of their foul kin come!

Curses! I call again the military, and we again go on our march of doom. The tread of our feet echoes off the walls, and we march to the time of our heart beats. Highmax walks up front, a grin of anticipation on his face; I know he awaits the feel of hot blood pouring down his throat again. I shudder with the coldness in his eyes, and can’t help but feel that I am sending a monster to fight a monster. I almost wish that the crow will win.
20th Hematite
One died to the forgotten beast, and his name will forever be carved into our hearts as the first to die in our long battle for the caverns. For that is what this is; a war. They own the depths, and we want it for our farms. And so, we fight. For Farm and Family, we fight! Though creatures from the dawn of time may assail us, though our arms be torn off and our limbs shredded, we will fight. And when all is done, we will raise our plump helmet toasts in our dining halls, and drink the ale of our people. For we fought for it, and we will have it. To further this need, I have set a squad of ten training at the entrance to the farm. May their blades be ever sharp!

The gates grind open in front of me, revealing a dark maw filled with howling winds and swirling snow. The noise stops, and a new one begins. A low growl, vibrating through the very air. Highmax shifts and loosens his swords, and the men arrayed behind murmur their fear, feeling the wind bite deep despite their armour and furs. “Forward,” I whisper. “Forward.” My heart feels like lead…I have a terrible feeling. No sooner are the words past my lips than I regret them, but it is too late. Highmax twitches, the only one close enough to hear.
He takes a deep breath, then releases it in a massive blast of sound, drowning out even the growl. “FORWARD, MEN. FORWARD TO THE BREATCH” Like a well-oiled machine, the men roll forward. As in the march for the caverns, I cannot stop them now. This is Highmax’s domain, his call. I order the charge, he controls it. Spreads the blood, hacks the flesh. So it is in every fort, with every military commander and overseer. Though none have one quite as…unique as Highmax. The scene with the forgotten beast flashes in lurid blasts across my eyes, and I shudder.
The boots of the soldiers pound on the bridge, making it groan. The tramp of doom. I have a bad feeling about this. I stand back and let them past, the river of steel flowing past me, with Highmax the maddened froth at its head. In twos they plunge into the snow and are consumed. I did not know it at the time but none would ever again return across that threshold. None but one.
Cries come from beyond the veil of snow, and drawing a deep breath into my lungs I plunge into the fray. Shapes loom all about, but all seem to be shadows. Shades they may be, but they are Dwarven shadows; the soldiers. Only once do I see the beast itself. Walking through the snow I hear the death cries of men, the yips of a wounded animal. The rattle of bones and the oozing of flesh. A snout pokes from the mist, covered in gore. It takes a deep breath, inhaling the scents of fear; blood and sweat. A fell head covered in matted black fur then follows, teeth bared in a rictus grin.
Once, this beast had been a member of the fort. Long it patrolled the borders of our realm, one of the security dogs which ever kept us Dwarves safe in our beds. And now it is laid low by the very winds which blow across the lands it so faithfully defended. It started in the east. A groan was heard on the borders. The piercing winds which swept the land died down, and there was silence on the tundra. Silence before the storm. A new wind arose, a foul wind. It swept across the land, striking down two guard dogs. We Dwarves were safe; we were inside our hewn ice halls. The dogs were not, but they long ago succumbed to our traps after the fogs which raised them died down, giving the land back to the whistling winds. All but one. The toughest one, Hound of the Tundra!
A dog it was, and a dog it remains. It is stronger, yes, and harder to kill. But it shall succumb to Dwarven steel. The baleful eyes, sunken deeply into the flesh at the sides of its skull, seem to look at me with a light of madness burning deeply within them. I will kill you, those yes seem to whisper, my teeth will pierce your throat . I give a disgusted grunt, and heft my axe. Behind the mutt, the figures of the Soldiers rise. There are no holes in their ranks. I laugh at the pathetic remnant of a once-noble animal. It will be an honour to end its suffering; behind the madness in it eyes, I see a great tide of pain. My breath clouds the air in front of me, and the amount of snow seems to die down.
As the snow lessens, a figure is revealed in the murk to my left. Highmax. With a bloodcurdling yell he runs forward and stabs the dog. So quick, so brutal. It is over in seconds, me and the others staring in shock. The dog’s blood spurts upwards like a fountain, and all hear Highmax chuckling, a dark, evil sounding rumbling through the chill air. Even the staunchest of the soldiers trembles in his boots, and murmurs of outrage rumble through the men as Highmax raises the broken copse into the air above him, shouting his defiance of life, his unending lust for death. Soon his rantings cease and turn into a howl which seems to never end, wailing on and on above the wind. I can only look, horror clouding my mind.
One of the men walks forward, and I recognise him as Lor, the miner who felled a forgotten beast. Many of the men respect him and look up to him. A civilized sort, he retreated to a regiment of the army after his victory, and became a proficient soldier. To my eyes he is like Highmax. A leader, but a decent one. He has all of Highmax’s traits…except the blood lust. He steps forward with steel in his cobalt eyes. “Highmax. That’s enough Highmax. The creature is dead. Leave it be.” A whisper of agreement ripples through the troops. Even Highmax’s men join in, their heads bobbing in time with the others.
Highmax doesn’t appear to be listening. His head is thrown back in rapture, and I notice with revulsion that blood is dripping from the steaming corpse and into his mouth. Lor steps forward and puts his hand on his shoulder. With a snap Highmax’s sword comes round, piercing his chest with a quick, fluid stab. The men and I gawp as the blood spurts from his chest and he falls, wheezing, to the ground. The steel leeches from his eyes, and the body stills with a final gasp. Highmax stands over his kill.
The silence stretches on. Highmax, his eyes darting about, sword in hand, makes the first move. With a cry of fury he lunges. At me. I do not even feel the blade go in. I can only look into his bloodshot eyes, and spit blood into his face. A roar of anger starts and with fading sight I see the men rush Highmax. Then silence, blackness. I no longer exist. I am not me. I am an observer, a wraith on the edge of existence who has given up any rights to participation.
It was a red day, a time of blood and suffering. Twenty dwarves were killed by Highmax and a few of his most fervent followers. They swept through the force like a gale, killing all in their wake. Finally, only Highmax was left. Herded by a hastily made squad of Fortress Dwarves, he was herded kicking and screaming into a room by himself. The door was locked on his screaming figure, and there he stayed for many days. Many days, that is, until this happened.

In my absence a new mayor was appointed, one without divine help from above. They call him Apiks, and I find him a most diplomatic fellow. It was his idea to release the blood-crazed Highmax onto the Ettin, thus ensuring our survival. A most succinct plan, but somewhat lessened by the fact that he went stark raving mad after he made it and had to be slaughtered.

The death toll is so large that I see many dead from Tantrums and madness, the smell of death permeating everything. There are not enough living to move the dead, and the smell of the dead enrages the living. It is an unholy mess.
13th Sandstone
All is chaos. Blood and gore spatter the crystalline halls, corpses pile high in the corners and the crazed run babbling through puddles of vomit. And during all this, Blademan makes a mandate.

18th Sandstone.
Only one left…blademan. He survived us all, including me. His misery is heard in the near-mad cries of misery which issue from his throat. However, he yet clutches to the sanity which none have now in the halls of Fliermanor. It is only through the fruits of his labour that the fort
has not crumbled to its end.
19th Sandstone
10 migrants! Never before has the scourge of new arrivals been more welcomed! Rejoice! The corpses are being moved with the new force of migrant labour, blademan presiding over all.

1st Granite, Year 16 of the Mountainhomes.
From what we have heard, the Fliermanor was a bloodbath. I was exiled there for the frauds I commited in the Mountainhomes,
and - to be frank - I deserved it.
I did not, however, expect this... carnage. Out of all the dwarves that had lived here only one lived - self-appointed "mayor"
of this icy coffin... Within a few months he already took one of the females that came with us as his wife. She had no choice, but to obey - his eves were...
Intimidating.
So - here we are. Twelve of us total. I'll try to get us through this...
5th Granite
I started exploring the interior of the fortress... And Armok, it's a mess. The first floor seems to be the first sheltering for
the dwarves living here...
The Crundles keep harrasing our farmers, but they are doing just fine.
Also, Blademan seems to have recovered from his sickness, whatever it was...
15th Granite
I did some inspections on the burial chambers... So many dead. But also, one question arises: Who buries animals when there are so many dead dwarves
still lying around unburied?
This will have to change. I have given the proper informations to the workshop... Many more coffins are to be made.
Too many good dwarves died here. I still can't quite put together what happened here, and Blademan keeps silent. I'll have to ask him,
what became of Highmax, of whom we have heard so much in the Mountainhomes.
This place gives me the creeps. All those corpses lying around, goblins caged... And the roars of two beasts from under the earth that echo through
the caverns. "Dream wings"... You have to have wings to dream here - and even then there will be something flying that can catch up...
23rd Granite
I... I've found the Grand Dining Room... It's...
The piles of vomit and animal blood... spilled booze and bloodied weapons just lying around...
All of this...
What happened here? What carnage could possibly...
I can't even comprehend what happened here.
28th Granite
The construction of the outer wall is almost complete. We will soon be safe from the outside, and I'll be able to concentrate on dealing with matters inside...
This fortress requires a lot of work.

Blademan stepped into Forgotten Beast's extract and is now complaining of his feet... They appear blistered, but it'll have to be checked.
Doc is already on it.

Just a quick overview of what I'm dealing with here...
Damn, this place is creepy. I have yet to figure out how to use the danger room and how to get rid of the gobbos in cages... For some reason the military guys refuse to kill them outright.
Any ideas?

Throw goblins in pit then chuck ice and stone on top of them or use them to level up your marks-dwarf with a sealed room that only entice is a hole in the ceiling and has fortifications so dwarfs can shoot them. Im so evil. :D

They come! Good Armok, They come!
Twenty new dwarves, all fresh and ready to work for the glory of Dreamwings!

Exept for the migrant wave this moth was almost serene...
I am almost forgetting where we are... If only not the stench of death everywhere.
27th Slate
Interesting. One of the ghosts hounting the fortress came to me and said:
"The empty coffin in the Burial Chambers is mine. Don't you dare disturb me any more!"
And vanished...
His name appeared on the coffin, even though the box itself seems empty.
Oh well, i'll let him rest.

I've ordered the big pit to be the place to dump goblin cages. Let them fight among each other - even if they manage
to gnaw their way out.

six dwarves died, many more are severely injured. Blademan has lost his hand, and I don't know if he'll live.
those goblins are a menace. Five more of the bastards arrived...

This is a slaughter. Out of thirty dwarves only ten are still alive. I am lying on the floor, slowly bleeding out...
Whoever you are, run. Run and never come back, this place is cursed...

3rd Hematite
Blademan has been killed. Sheaim has been killed. Everyone's dead...
Am I the last one standing?
No, there are still two other dwarves here. And two children.
Armok, what is going on here...
8th Hematite
The elves have been slaughtered, same for the liason and his escorts. I can only hope the goblins don't decide to run inside...
It would be the end for all of us.
22nd Hematite
I hear screams from the caverns...
It seems one of our bretheren was still alive down there. I don't want to even think about what happened to him...
24th Hematite
It's only me, the maniac and the kids left now...
Nothing more. I feel the goblin stench coming from the direction of the entrance.
I sit now, alone, in the once - great dining room...
Great Armok. It has came. The beast from the caverns is here!
17th Hematite
<Hasty writing>
These bastards got themselves slaughtered and I don't even get to finish my work...
I hear battle outside. Screams of slaughter more like.
They are all dead... Even children. And my life's work unfinished...

I'm still here. Components for my grand work still missing. I don't scream only so the beasts don't hear me...
I'm all alone here...
All alone.

28th Felsite
Another goblin wave. We're pretty much done for, I think.
They still haven't entered. If this keeps up just a little longer, I'll be able to wall us off from the outside completely.
21st Hematite
I think I managed to wall us off the gobbos. Hopefully we can survive down here until some hope arrives. It might take some time.
13th Malachite
The beast flew over the wall and into the farms. Farm destroyed, five dwarves dead. The beast killed with a willow sword.
OH WELL.
Oh, and another migration wave. One of the dwarves killed, rest managed to get in. His sacrifice will not be forgotten.
The killer, Mebzuth Enshalonul will be dorfed.

OOC: facepalm. I didn’t realize that there was already a Shadowhammer, so that guy is just coincidentally named similarly to me. Don’t mind him.
---
An ambush! Curse the goblins! They sprung from hiding as the human trade caravan was pulling in. They began to attack the evil dogs, but so did the merchants guards. There was a short battle, which left one merchant dead and two of our soldiers wounded. I myself was unharmed, but Th4DwarfY3 and Wolfbane are both resting injuries.
A pink tourmaline spider showed up in the caverns, joining the other four beasts that were already there. This one is probably the worst, though: an inorganic webspinner, with a poisonous bite. If anyone decides to try and retake those caves, they will have quite a job on their hands.
I have decided to take a small risk and mine some of the admantine that I was just informed we had found months ago. It has now been forged into a spear for myself, and two swords for our some of our soldiers.
The dwarven traders arrived, but there is nothing we need, so I just allowed them to continue on their journey.
Finally! My project is complete! I can now retire in peace, knowing that I shall not be forgotten. (Due to time constraints, it’s a bit much less grand than originally intended, but oh well)
Just when I thought my reign was going to end, the outpost liaison "hinted" to Th4DwarfY3 that he "might" elevate us further in the eyes of the realm. Now I wish I had been more civil with that caravan, maybe I should've even offered some loot to the mountainhomes. Oh well, I guess the next overseer will have to deal with that.
The last thing that I will ever hear as overseer is the announcement of the coming of yet another beast into the caverns. This one is a dimetredon with poisonous secretions, for a total of five. Depending what the poison does, this monster may be even deadlier than the spider, because it's spraying its secretions everywhere.
Notes:
-Military needs better armor. Maybe adamantine, because I forgot about the lack of iron, and didn't buy any steel. Oops.
-Once the above is accomplished, give battle to the fell beasts that lurk beneath the world. Charge into the caverns and slay the (five and counting) forgotten beasts.
-More accomodations are needed. There are several homeless dwarves, and not nearly enough tables in the dining room.
-Become the mountainhome. I think we need more exported wealth and more offerings.

My people have a saying: "A picture is worth a thousand words." So, here you go.
(http://s1.postimg.org/hxg1rde6n/Slaughterhouse.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)
This is the shortened kill list, meaning this is only after someone managed to cut his other arm. Then he used his shield to continue killing reaching an accomplished misc item user and +5 legendary fighter. It's all in dwarf therapist. He is now trapped in one of the rooms on the lower levels. The other one is in the depot.
If you thought the situation at Fliermanor couldn't get any worse, you were wrong. Right after I solved the domestic violence problem, a forgotten beast with deadly dust appeared in the third, exposed level of the caverns. Since I didn't have any solders ready, I quickly drafted random dwarfs into the guard and ordered them downstairs. Before they managed to get their screwy asses to the caverns, the clown took a number of retarded dwarfs and almost all of our livestock with it.
Winter crops, only a fraction of it is actually stored:

more incoming, build coffins
Ok. Since 3rd Bokaza is dead, no more boring journals. I'm going to give a short summery in form of a list:
- Goblin siege, human caravan avoided us.
- Broke the siege, 3 casualties.
- Strange mood; a cap, a shitty cap.
- Got promoted into a county after the liason had spent almost a year chasing our beloved baron across the fortress.
- "The Incident". Dwarf caravan smashed/drown off, population halved, Count dead.
- Culprits trapped. The caravan rapist (Depot Demon) is trapped in the depot (no trade for now) and Blademan10000 is trapped in the lower residential level, with a corpse of a dog, whose sacrifice will be remembered.
- Melancholic dwarfs everywhere, no tantrums for now.
- Migrant wave; around 8, 2 of them call themselves"traders"
- Forgotten beast. Around 6 dead(who cares at this point?).
- Goblin pedos, 3 trapped, one dead.
- Ambush. Fort closed, 2 Dwarf "traders" got screwed.
Random crap:
- All 3 Bokazas are buried next to each other, first wing, left side
- We had a Mace Lord for around 30 minutes.
- A swords dwarf died of thirst in one of our cages.
- Count's tomb was finished right before he was murdered. His wife is buried next to him.
- A memorial hall was built for all the named characters and ghosts on the (now useless) office and palace level.
- New sickness incoming.
- The thralls are either immune to traps or know their locations. You may need to use new traps to solve the problem.
- The stockpile is overflowing with trapped gobbos.
Also, please use the lazy newb pack to change the tile set on saves, the tileset is getting slightly bugged. Good luck.

Sorry. I didn't label when i remade them. You can try and guess which one it is, but here is the answer if you don't feel like risking it having fun.

Thrall owned them. All fled. Migrants dead, though.
Thrall went back into Trade Depot, so closed the gate behind him. Perhaps he shall do it each time, and we will have a
Dug tunnel to levers for entrance. Walled area off. Now separate from FB.
FB still fights bear
Made new entrance for migrants. Blocked with bridge.
Human caravan came, then left.
Migrants got in (At last!) through the new entrance. 6 new Dwarves.
Bear now holds off TWO forgotten beasts. With new migrants, retaking the fortress. Cleaning operation begun. Flooring off the stair above the Bear and its rivals, so they shall fight for eternity.
Lye maker has fey mood.
Claims jewellers shop.
My dorf makes a hatchcover and carries it down, fixing it on the last stair on the bottom. No more threat from FB scourge.
Population released back onto the Fortress, no need to hide in the bolt hole. Now have 22 Dwarves.
Two Grizzly Bears now fighting two Forgotten Beasts. Doing damned well, too. The first FB is in bad shape, and the original bear is hardly hurt. Damn, they’re good bears. The second FB is nearly dead-EVERYTHING is injured. The bears are even working under an FB induced Fever.
Fey mooder made a figurine of dwarves made of smoky quartz

THE CHEESE IS COMING!
The new comer bear died to the new FB. However, original bear continues to fight…A king amongst bears! Not even a war bear…if this thing survives/wins, I shall train the beast!
Bear…died. FB kicked it in the head, propelling it through the air and smashing against a wall.
Child gets mood. Needs shells. We have no shells.
Will post save in a bit. The fort is not thriving, but it is doing well. I just put them in a new-made confinement, then released them when mirants came. They cleaned up the now non-smelly corpses, and are currently settling in.
