There were a couple rapid alpha releases for 0.42.04, and there could probably be one now for 0.42.05 (the main delay this time was due to nobody testing it). My main obstacle is not having a Windows DFHack dev environment - I'm often able to put up at least weekly builds (once DFHack is stable enough, of course), but a lack of Windows builds tends to go unappreciated, so I usually end up waiting until someone is around to compile for Windows too.
DFHack 0.40.08-r1 took a considerably longer time to be released than 0.42 releases so far, but that was due to more changes and testing before it was released. Alpha builds ideally help speed up the testing process, but we don't want to release anything completely broken, because people who aren't interested in testing sometimes end up using alpha builds as well.

There was a typo in the siegers' campfire code. When the fires went out, so did the game.

Fair enough. I'm looking forward to the next full release. Thanks for all of the work you put in.

Linux 0.42.05 seems fine, even with TWBT. I've been through a few forts and I haven't had any issue.

I'm looking forward to the next DFHack alpha release on Windoze as well. Been delaying my 42.05 move until that day arrives...

I'm also waiting patiently for tech wizards to finish tinkering with the 42.05 build :) too bad there's always the next DF version around the corner that keep on promising fixes or features so new and alluring >_>

Its been a bit since 40.05 came out. Is there a problem with it?
I think .06 is expected soon.
As in minutes after PE's Starter Pack ships with DFHack for 42.05? :)

Yes. And in order to take advantage of any of the changes and fixes you've been waiting for the most, you must generate a new world.

Well, that's always a risk with simultaneous development. It took several months last time to get to the point where updating the packs was a relatively minor thing, and it coincided with Toady tapering off the releases and going back into the long development cycle.

Fine, I'm playing enough w/ 42.04, that I might as well do a little documentation, and become and alpha tester.

Where do I sign up?

I would like to also sign up in that I don't mind testing the super buggy versions for 42.05 on Windows. You're gonna have to feed me how to compile it though, because I have no clue how, and my friend can't help me until finald are over in a month.

Thanks for the alpha release. I can build from the develop branch on Linux, but I've never set up a build environment for Windows, and I play sometimes on a Linux machine, and sometimes on Windows.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

Running this with the latest LNP on windows 7. No problems so far, but I don't really use any of the more advanced tools. I mostly just use reveal and the more basic tweaks.

Built the newest commit in the repository but symbols.xml doesn't have an entry for the newest version of Dwarf Fortress, so dfhack deactivates on startup. Are there other changes in the pre-built binary that aren't in the source version?

My guess is that you need to use develop branch. That is there all the (hot) action is going :)
