Another question: When I'm playing with DFHack on LNP, the game freezes whenever I try to scroll to zoom in and out.

a) can this be fixed somehow?
b) is there another way to zoom?

What keypress causes the freezup?
Normal zoom is mapped to ctrl-3/4 and twbt-zoom is to ctrl-g/h.

Oh, that's the multiscroll plugin, please delete it from the hack/plugin folder, that should stop the freezes.

WARNING!
Due to an error on my part Macnewbie 0.9.16 was released with incorrect raws. Your saves -shouldn't- be affected, and should work correctly after upgrading, but just in case please  backup any saves generated with this version in case there's a problem.
Thx goes to Badger Storm for letting me know the problem.

Other notable feature in this release is dfhack 40.24-r2 with a fix for a long time spatter plugin crash. With this fix this release we are one step closer to a working Masterwork mod.

I can't get stonesense to run. At game startup the console log says "stonesense: Only PRINT_MODE:2D is supported on OS X
Plugin /Applications/Macnewbie/Dwarf Fortress/hack/plugins/stonesense.plug.dylib has failed to initialize properly."

So when I type stonesense in the console it says it doesn't exist.

I'm using OS X 10.10.2

Can anyone help?

You have to use PRINT_MODE:2D on OS X for Stonesense to work. This might be an option in the launcher, or you can edit that setting in init.txt.
(This means that you can't use TwbT and Stonesense at the same time.)

Thanks I found it! it worked but now it crashes when I launch  :'(

"Stonesense launched
Using allegro version 5.0.9 r1
[DFHack]# /Applications/Macnewbie/Dwarf Fortress/dfhack: line 15:  4915 Segmentation fault: 11  DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES=./hack/libdfhack.dylib ./dwarfort.exe "$@"

Really nasty crash that shuts down the whole thing. Maybe I should just boot into windows instead and try playing that way. haha. Argh

Crashes do generally do that. Is there anything Stonesense-related in stderr.log? You could try launching Stonesense again - Stonesense crashes tend to be unpredictable (and can occur on all platforms), so I recommend saving before using it.

Good point!  :D

Alas there doesn't seem to be anything after the last line in the log:

"Invoking: stonesense"

So this all works great for me, save for after a fort gets to a certain size then either right after loading a save (and un-pausing) or part way into a saved game I get this error and DF quits.
/Applications/Games/Macnewbie.9.16/Dwarf Fortress/dfhack: line 15:   386 Bus error: 10           DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES=./hack/libdfhack.dylib ./dwarfort.exe "$@"

On the other thread I reported the above. You suggested:

Try switching print mode to 2D from TWBT in the graphics tab.
If this helps: check if you have any system updates/graphics drivers you can install.
If not: try turning off dfhack...
Please report progress in the updated Macnewbie thread, link in my sig below.

1. 2D results in the same crash.
2. DFHACK turned off with 2D also results in the same error. A second try allows the game to run strangely enough.

Downloading the update and will report with that later.

It's probably a save-specific issue, then. Have you built any constructions over trees in that save?

Edit: Fricy, is there a reason for "dwarfmonitor disable date" in dfhack.init?

Possibly some save corruption issue, not sure. I could take a look if you uploaded the save somewhere. How long it takes on average to crash? As lethosor mentioned there's a bug in 40.24 that causes crashes when you build near tree branches/leaves/etc, could it explain this?
And how big is your fort/embark/world?

@lethosor: could it be a memory issue? I know on windows the game crashes if it runs out the 2gb application limit, but not sure what happens on mac. DF is 32 bit on all platforms, right?

Edit: Fricy, is there a reason for "dwarfmonitor disable date" in dfhack.init?
Yeah, the date/weather display obscures the beginning of announcements.
I was asked on reddit how to disable it, and after some consideration made it default in the pack. It could work if moved to the right next to the happiness meters, or perhaps in the upper right corner, but not in the lower left corner.

The date is displayed in the upper right corner.
Regarding memory, I believe that windows is the only platform that has a 2 GB memory limit for 32-bit programs by default - most other platforms have a 4 GB limit (or something close to it).
