the reports should already narrow the areas down, overlay with magic mapping should narrow it down further. Since different kinds of magic can be differentiated, there should be a certain repeating overlap between the indicated areas of the reports and a certain kind of magic, which can be used to rule out unrelated magical places if there is a different kind of magic detected, while the same kind of magic might reveal dragon nests that host dragons that don't live near logging camps.

I'll make an MSpaint thing to explain



Black = area indicated by eyewitnesses. Too big and too vague to actually search through
Red = the dragons magic
Other colors = unrelated magic stuffs

the only magic that is found in all of the areas is the draconic magic, which makes the area that needs to be searched a lot smaller.
in the case there there is some super common sort of magic that can be found in all of the indicated areas besides dragons, it's possible to just sort that out by trial and error and check out both kinds of magic manualy to check if a dragon is the source.

Unless kj says otherwise, it would probably be quicker to search through the areas with eyewitness reports than to wait for the right satellites to fly over the right areas, then cross-reference all the data, then search the smaller areas.

unless the eye-witness reports are very accurate, it might take weeks of tracking through the jungle to find anything. waiting for the satelites is a lot more convenient, and likely faster too

on a sidenote, ICARUS is fairly heat-resistant, as noted in the charsheet. I have no idea how that factors in with heat increasing magic. I am not sure why this ability would be more effective against machines than against humans (so sais the charsheet). Increase a humans body temperature by a few degress and they quickly keel over and die. Even crappy computers need a lot more increasement from their optimal temperature to a temperature that fucks them over

As stated in the character sheet, it's not able to effectively kill humans, but damaging parts on a machine can render it useless for the time being.

yeah, but...how can it not actually kill a human, who is actually absolutely screwed if his body temperature is even just slightly risen (+6°C is guaranteed death), while most machines still work entirely reliable (+20°C is shrugged off like it's nothing) under increased heat but are fucked over?
