Couldn't help it :P Humor ninja'd!

Dreadnoughts don't have machine spirits. Machine spirits are AI that lack the autonomy to make independent decisions. The last recorded, fully autonomous AI dreadnought was the Kaban Project.

Too late, you are hereby quoted.
DARN!! Double ninja'd! Too bad I got busy while writing the post.

:P

I don't think they have a machine spirit. Maybe the chaos one can have a daemon or something. Although having a basic program/machine spirit wouldn't be too illogical as a backup or ease of handling while not in use.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?
My ship exploded midflight, but all the shrapnel totally landed on Alpha Centauri before anyone else did.  Bow before me world leaders!

And all researchers are immediately executed by their Commissars for levity unbecoming Imperial soldiers.

I... have no idea how did I made that. I mean, I know how to do it, just have no memory of doing it.

Actually "research" is kind of quasi-heresy among the Tech Priests of Mars. You're not supposed to be breaking new ground, just reclaiming that which was once known and then lost. Because Novelty = Heresy!

The Imperium got some of the basics of plagiarism confused.

The mechanicus still do research and occasionally make new things just... Veryyyy... Careffuulllyy.... They even occasionally reverse engineer* alien tech when no one's looking. *Ahem, research, but we all know what they're doing.
