Do migrants obey traffic priorities? If yes, then you can set entire surface as forbidden and set few high priority lanes on safe areas leading to the fortress entrance.

Yes they do; of course that won't help if the entire surface is patrolled by monsters. Digging tunnels to near map edges for the migrants to enter safely could also be a good idea.

Finally, after many months of colossus baiting, all monsters are now safely caged. There was only one casualty, an animal dissector who got his head kicked in by a one-legged bronze colossus; his sacrifice will be remembered by those visiting the megabeast zoo for their education and amusement.

At first I was planning to keep the structure as a museum but the dwarves kept sneaking in to clean up all the historical blood, so I gave them permission to loot the place clean. Now the fortress is almost drowning in bronze statues and valuable dragon, hydra and roc bones.

Savagesilver has been over the megabeast population limit for two seasons now and there have been exactly zero monster attacks. There was one goblin siege though, a paltry nine goblins who got quickly their spleen handed on a platter by the now very capable militia squads. How did those guys even manage to get here through all those monsters?

Since things continue to be quiet, digging and carving of the fortress continues. Here's some of the newer engravings for those interested:

The fight with Ngostôz the bronze colossus was of course noted by engravers, it being the most dramatic action for the early militia. Demise of Ostath the roc is also immortalized in one carving:

These ones are odd:

Litast Craftedamber isn't a member of my fort. Apparently he's a clerk in some other settlement in The Road of Slaughters and was laying down the law for some goblins while I was digging out the magma forges. There's the proof that the world really does go on while playing in the fortress mode.

Ahh, excellent. Besmar Brassbristled got himself possessed and created The Counsellor of Decay, a raw adamantine bracelet that nearly doubles the fortress value. Maybe this will finally attract the attention of continent's megabeast population.

IIRC, 40.X changed the way that thing works.

Jeez, it's like someone made a termite mound out of masonry. That might be the most twisted and confusing architecture I've seen in DF yet.

Looks to be similar than the Savagesilver one. I think the one I've got ended up looking like that when a shrine and several dozens of lairs got mashed together; yours seems to have at least one labyrinth in there as well.

Also, 974 megabeasts?!? Whoa. What's your FPS like?

Ahh, Staalo, I was impressed by your fluency and sentence complexity and structure all until the most recent "These ones...". I love this story so far, and just recently began to read it. I hope your fortress remains strong!

After repeated testing using multiple saves, about ten minutes of nothing while said beasts kill each other in a bloody slaughter. At around the 400 remaining mark, it reaches 5 fps, and at 200 it reaches a steady 20, before finally peaking around 40 once most of the fighting has died down and around 70 or so beasts remain. I've had four tests by now, and shall try and settle a colony soon.

Give us the world gen. Now.

If you insist; but be warned, this parameters are not for the faint of heart, or PC for the matter! Not sure how it'll work on a vanilla version of Dwarf Fortress: it might not actually generate any Dwarven civs (not many mountains), but it's worth a shot for those who are willing. Whatever the end result is, I shall continue my experimantation both with this structure as well as further world generation, to see if there is some way to cram 1000 megabeasts into the same square while still leaving dwarven civilization intact!
