Aliberti struck the table with his fist and then stood up, fuming at Noel and his face red and tears forming in the corners of his eyes.

"Noel! Can't you at least try to be... be understanding here?" Princess Eleonore closed her eyes, deciding to politely not stare at her angry, defeated to-be-husbando.

"I will sign it. After all, i have the same powers-"

"No!" Aliberti moved forward and seized the paper from Noel. Then he sat down at the table.

"I'm the one signing papers in this army and the one responsible for the signatures. Me and me alone." After a moment of hesitation, he dipped the quill in the ink and signed the document. Naturally, Princess Eleonore handed him a copy as well, and he signed that one too, without further delay.

"Please, Mister Noel, your signature here and here." She pushed both documents toward him as Aliberti turned his face away, his sister giving him a pat on the shoulder.

"This is me being understanding. If I wasn't, you would be hearing exactly what I think of allowing General Oinkand to slip one over on everyone while..."

Noel took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Aliberti had probably learned from this mistake. There was no point in rubbing it in. When the papers were handed to him, he quickly signed his name, title, and that he was a witness to the event.

"There. We're finished here. Now we can get back to making sure there's actually a planet left for either kingdom to exist on."

"Thank you, Mister Noel. You will now be returned to the fenced area but we will let you and your friends freed soon, and then I will have some of my knights escort you for a brief while. Captain Alma, please take Mister Noel back to his friends. I have to talk with Aliberti. And Rosana." With a salute, Alma took Noel by hand and then 'helped' him out of the tent. And then he was marched back to the fenced 'pen' for the captives.

Irios and the other healer was behind the fence as well, now.

Noel visibly shuddered when Alma took his hand, but made no vocal protest. Once he was back inside the fenced area, he dusted himself off.

"Well, that settles it. Kovalia doesn't belong to the Empire any longer, in case you're curious about what happened."

Ayzebel had immediately moved over to Irios, once he was put inside.

"I'm glad you're not hurt. They claimed several of the Prince's band had been killed." she had said quietly.

Noel visibly shuddered when Alma took his hand, but made no vocal protest. Once he was back inside the fenced area, he dusted himself off.

"Well, that settles it. Kovalia doesn't belong to the Empire any longer, in case you're curious about what happened."

Ayzebel seemed unfazed by the news.
"An issue to solve after the apocalypse is averted, I suppose."

"That's my opinion as well; there's no point in squabbling over territory if we all die soon."

"Aliberti seemed to be taking it hard so I was a lot lighter on him than I perhaps should have been. I can't believe... of all the stupid mistakes to make!"

Noel sighed again.

"Not that it matters to me, I suppose. I'm not from either country and I'll probably be heading home once the crisis is averted."

"I'm glad you're alright too; if you hadn't shown up I was ready to use my last resort," he whispered back. With his knife gone, that probably would've meant snapping his heal staff and stabbing himself with it.

As for the situation with Aliberti, Irios was hard pressed care at this point in time.

"I fail to see why they made us come out and do this; in fact, the Empire would've been better off if they had just had us continue collecting fragments."

"You're correct, but I'll give Kovalia credit; they planned this well. They knew Aliberti would want to take part in this and capturing him gave them their freedom. If it didn't involve me in the slightest I would applaud their cleverness and expert execution."

Chance immediately stood at attention.
: "Kovalia is-?!"
The mage caught himself, glancing at the others, before quickly turning aside.
: "I... suppose that is the most logical step they would take from their position. They must have had an official observing the proceedings, might I ask who?"

"The five in attendance were, on Zorostria's side, the prince and princess; on Kovalia's side, Princess Eleonore and Captain Alma; and as a neutral Miccahn and historian, I was called upon to sign as a witness and chronicle the proceedings."

Noel closed his eyes and remembered.

"The terms were that Kovalia was no longer a vassal state and would have their goods, lands, and castles restored; that the war would end and any Zorostrian soldier that wishes to pledge allegiance to Kovalia, for example by marriage, would be allowed to do so; and that Kovalia wouldn't interfere with our group's efforts to save the world."

Ivory gives a glance at both of the Kovalians; this must be interesting news for them.

: "I see. To consider this much in preparation. I can only wonder exactly what occurred while we remained in the other world."
Chance noticed the couple people glancing in his and Maribel's direction, and- after a moment's realization- scowled.
: "Ah... This only serves to make our situation all the more ambiguous."

"I'm sure Princess Eleonore would spare you for the effort."

"For what it's worth, any blame is on the royal family of the Empire. Instead of scrutinizing their own military leaders, they decided to investigate people who weren't even here when the rebellion started. While I do feel a little sympathy toward Aliberti for getting tricked in such a manner, this really is entirely Zorostria's fault that the rebellion was won so quickly and decisively."

Kerr picked up a small rock and threw it at Noel, aiming for his chest area.

"Just shut up about it already, alright? Mistakes were made, it's over and done with, soon we'll be back on whatever fool's errand they have us on and they'll stop caring about us again."

Ivory looks away from Chance and Miribel.

"I wonder how valid my orders are now, since they came from the General."
