Yeah, I think it'd be more fun to know ASAP who is psi strong/weak.

Indeed! For the sake of a Let's Play, I'd say it's good to frontload things like that. I'm really curious to know who has capacity for Voodoo and who doesn't.

Though PirateZ is a far longer campaign than classic Xcom and therefore wouldn't suffer from only doing Voodoo on the beginning of each month, on principle I think that the option to allow entry into the facility at any time just makes a ton of sense.  I'm for enabling the option.

Straight Panties? She's the reason I always keep a few hunting rifles in base. I found those to be ideal training weapons if you get a gal you're willing to spend a bit of time on.

I'll also say 'aye' to rushing the psi training. No need to wait; it's not like psi is nearly as broken here as it is in OldCom anyway.

I'm ambivalent.  Kaos has been injured too many times and the Will is meh.

We will see soon. I'll enable psy school and see what happens.

By the way the LP started before the addition of a faction that we've never seen. I edited the save so they can spawn.

I'm also adding a few tweaks, like 'enemies pick up weapons' to make the game a bit harder.

PTW. Arr Yar Fiddly Dee, We are a Pirate. Been great reading along. And for the obligatory named Gal, may I suggest

Lo Raine: Specced for taking hits. Why try dodging missiles when you can just take them to the face and throw one back?

for Troy?

10 Mar 2602

The mutant representative nervously knotted his tie. As a sectoid hybrid, he had a natural psychic control that he could teach but he already regret accepting to serve a teacher for the pirates. In a few minutes, the seats in front of him will be filled with unruly, flirty, skimpy dressed, and quite muscular pirates.

It was a nightmare.

Spoiler: Voodoo Classes (click to show/hide)

Not everyone could join the class but the first lessons helped Eve Jobs-sama to figure who had a strong spirit.

11 Mar 2602

The brainers were not done with skimpy outfits and made an 'upgrade' to the gym suits.

At the same time, the runts gathered weapon parts into small crates.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

12 Mar 2602

At the other side of the Cave of Booty, the hands ran away from the hyperwave relay and scattered around the base. Angel had to suspend the lessons in order to gather them back and figure what scared them.

Apparently all hyperwave frequencies have been overloaded, filling all the screens from the communication room with an eerie purple in the middle of panicked messages from Troy and Wako Base.

Walking bravely into the purple lit room, Amperzand could catch a strange message before it left way into the normal data feed.

Whoever Well-Wisher was, he asked the right questions. It all started with an impromptu mutiny, then an escape in a one-of-a-kind ship. Then they just happen to find an underground base, the Xcom base. Giving new life to the only obstacle the Star Gods had to combat.

Thanks to the base's laboratory, they hunted for knowledge, plenty of it, with the support of a band of merchants who sold them the means to fly undetected, and never leaked any information to the trade guild.

And who is Clemborg?

Eve Jobs-sama mindlessly discarded all these concerns. It happened, why bother?

13 Mar 2602

A supply ship was detected, this means that the guild had set up shop somewhere. The interceptor was not quick enough to follow it to its destination, but this prompted Eve Jobs-sama to plan for a way to better patrol the globe.

Meanwhile, back in the base, the brainers learnied about cooking, the explosive kind.

For security reasons, the runts were only allowed to make dynamite but their skills were handy to fill the gaps when elerium grenades were not available.

14 Mar 2602

The gals failed to capture reapers so far but that only prompted the brainers to give it more attention. Should the occasion arise, they had to make sure that it would grow big and mean (and fluffy).

15 Mar 2602

Because the base had all the skills needed to resist magic influences, the brainers carefully took their Star God captive our of his cell. Eve Jobs-sama used her skills on him for three days straight but all of this ended in frustration.

The guardian reluctantly gave away his purpose and what he knew about his masters. It turned out that he was barely above a cyclops. Merely a creature bred to fill the ranks and briefed like a lowly footman. Eve Jobs-sama punched him in a fit of anger, instantly killing him. The brainers figured that they might as well give its remains a dissection to see if he hid something interesting inside.

16 Mar 2602

An unlucky diplomatic ship ran into a bundle of gauss cannon rounds by accident, the gals reached the crash site quickly to provide the first aid.

Crash Site (Trade guild)

The ship made its landing near ancient temples. The pirates tended to operate well in the jungle but the temples slowed them down as they needed to check inside each of these ancients buildings for survivors.

The guild personnel were not very happy at this rescue attempt and resisted, causing a couple gals to fall to the grass asleep. The pirates had to be subdue them.

Kat Walker and Tah Tah walked around the obstacles and cuddled a guard into submission.

Boka blocked the exit, preventing the last passengers inside from getting out.

The ship's inferior deck was ripped off by its engines explosion., this allowed both melee gals to attack from the west with the help of Angel and take control of this situation.

18 Mar 2602

The mercenaries were in a tedious position. Their leader died in the hand of one of their contractor. Eve Jobs-sama communicated with them on a regular basis to know how they were handling their issues.

The mercs second in command took the lead but, despite advices from the pirate boss, he wanted to prove himself worthy by trying where his predecessor failed. Eve Jobs-sama let out her disappointment out loud, he looked so handsome and now she had to get him killed.

Mutant Pogrom (Mercenaries)

The mercs avoided interception again by traveling on the roads, and stopped at a restaurant resort. The gals answered the invitation for dinner immediately with laser weapons. Rince Wind let Godslayer in storage and used a previously captured precision laser, with the assistance of Roadkill and her hunting lasrifle.

Angel took Eve Jobs-sama orders seriously and confronted the mercenary lieutenant right away. Time stood still while they looked at her other in the eyes, pistol drawn.

Then... one, two, three, four.

The lieutenant was shot four time in the chest. Angel remained still as she watched the acid burn his chest and jelly his lungs.

The muton slowly dropped his pistol. His species heritage prevented him from giving into fear, but he still felt a crushing regret before dropping dead.

Of course, the mercs were tough enough to not fall apart as soon as their leader kicked the bucket. A pair of tanks maneuvered around the gals as they were still deploying.

Amperzand was the last one inside the bonaventura's storage room, she had to drop her RPG to throw supplies through the bottom hatch and could not see the rockets coming.

Sent to the back of the ship by the blast, she struggled against the severed cables and twisted debris scattered everywhere. While her power armor saved her from pain, she had to quickly handle the situation. The bonny was damaged but still capable of flight, but she could not find her RPG or anything smaller than a rifle in the mess that this explosion caused.

Under the dropship, all the gals answered 'Aye!' to the status request, no one died...

Almost no one...

Rince Wind decided to not make use of her hover suit this time. The Bonaventura felt more secure than the skies and Roadkill could not agree more.

The gals acted quickly, dividing themselves into four groups. Two would concentrate fire on the tanks with their lasgun, and the others would scout further, using smoke grenades to buy time.

If the gals could properly protect themselves against the tanks by kneeling on slopes, they did not have power beyond their laser rifles. Such rifles were great against troops but not against hulking machines, and it took them many combined shots to even damage the tanks.

(After an entire turn taking shots)

They lost a lot of time in this skirmish and the scouting groups could not progress further without support. Kat Walker herself took a gauss hit in the chest, only saved by her synthsuit's resistance. Both Angel and Natty Compa had the energy to run through the field and provide her with first aid.

But eventually, the vehicles gave in and the gals seized the western corner of the resort. The snipers could turn their attention to the isolated mercs at the north, and the rifle gals were finally free to cover the front line. With enough laser and smoke on their side, the melee gals started searching the restaurants.

Tah Tah took a younger gal with her and assaulted a mercenary who took position in a side room. Bad luck struck when the mercenary dropped an elerium grenade to his feet in the commotion. The explosion  tore the walls apart, killing the young gal and sending Tah Tah to the ground. The mercenary even walked in total confusion before getting savagely beaten.

Angel ran in and checked the Tah Tah's pulse. It was obvious that the wounded gal was in no condition to walk, but she was not going to die. The smoke she inhaled only made her condition look worse that what it really was.

Afterwards, the gals broke into teams of three and searched each corner, eliminating any resistance.

Sadly, if the mercenaries were destroyed, of all the locals only a waitress survived. The uphill battle against the tanks gave the enemy all the time they needed to accomplish their sinister job. That the gals fired accidentally on a panicked mutant who ran in did not help.

But the worst is that rockets exploded right under the Bonaventura and most of its supplies went up in smoke. The gals lost almost everything! This includes several laser and gauss weapons and... Godslayer. Truely a great loss.

The irony is that, despite dying like a rat, the mercenary lieutenant actually managed to dent the gals resources and reputation. He would have received a payment from the Star Gods if he lived.

Tah Tah broken legs were immobilized, she had to stay in the sick bay for a while.

19 Mar 2602

The brainers continued their research on ship components and figured that they could attach dedicated AIs to an interceptor's weapons to help with aiming.

They also achieved the ultimate in skimpy technology by creating an outfit using a design found in their mutant porn stash. There was probably no way to wear less clothing then that, and still call it clothing but somehow, somewhere, there was a gal who had to wear that.

The runts worked with the junk stolen from the raiders and, with surprise, they claimed that they could produce something out of this junk, outdoing the raider's bad taste in weaponry. This opened a whole new line of research.

(Cropped nsfw image, sorry)

Like previous captives before, the academy engineer was tied to a table where she had to endure Eve Jobs-sama worst interrogation techniques. The runts provided tools and drugs to physically break her and brainers added a layer of psychological warfare into the mix.

In the end, she gave up all hope of saving her position and taught the pirates everything she knew about Star God approved technology.

The academician left the Cave of Booty oblivious, and roamed the coast where she found a guildmaster and a church reverand to live a simple life with.

The brainers were pleased with Eve Jobs-sama attention upon technology but the Big Boss denied that.

She did it for the dakka.

I...I think I will need some time alone. A good friend, the best a gal could wish for, is no more. He comforted me at night, when I could not sleep, seeing in front of me the relieved faces of those I missed. He was there when I needed him as we fought them self proclaimed gods, and won. He did his duty to the last moment, defending the Bonaventura with his very body. And now...he is gone. He is in a happier place now. A place, where his shots don't miss. But me? Oh why have you left me here on this miserable earth. The precision laser is not bad, but he can't really compare. Real dakka must be loud, an explosion hurtling a piece of metal to a target. Not just some gloryfied beam of light. Though the burns it causes are pleasing to watch through the scope.
Now, let me bury these remains among those he has slain. AND DON'T GIVE ME THAT FUNNY LOOK WHILE I DO IT! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! HE WAS SPECIAL TO ME, AS I WAS TO HIM!
