[6]You lift a salute to him, widely grinning as you offer to buy Eric a drink. [14] You notice him tensing his shoulders, only to relax them a hesitation later. You notice that a few of his friends are looking at him, rather than the threat that may be across from them. You know James and Mcgee doing the same thing to you without having to look. Emma stares Eric down with pure hatred on her fair face. He gives a nod, smiling. You pick one of the nicer beers, and a serving girl takes it to him.

[1] He pours it out. "Sorry. Could you buy me another?"

"Eeesh, waste of a good drink." Buy another.
"I ain't replacing this one, now!"

Yeah, that was an affront, and apparently our drinking buddies have been expecting us to beat Eric up... but then, Eric seemed kinda decent when we met him! I'd rather kill whatever bad blood is between us now than spark an all-out grudge match, if at all possible. Can't hurt to have a reputation for patience, so long as we set some real clear boundaries at some point of what we will and will not tolerate.

Anyway, 'tis better to be a happy drunk than a grumpy drunk yes?  :D

Makes sense, though I suspect this will end in a fight.  +1

If we fight, we fight-- but this way we at least keep the moral high ground!

...also now that I think of it, Mother Nicole did kinda tell us she'll straight-up slaughter us if we beat anyone up who doesn't really really deserve it. Best tread carefully.

"Eeesh, waste of a good drink." You purchase another. The serving girl looks annoyed, but complies, eying the two bands of teenagers with something approaching concern. "I ain't replacing this one, now!"

[18] With his glass refilled, a side-glance at the server, Eric downs it in a few gulps.  "Not worth bothering these folks for." Then without so much as a backward look, he leaves. His friends file out behind him, slow to leave and complaining to him all the while. Mcgee and James look confused, but say nothing to you directly.

[9] "Why do you keep letting him act that way towards you?" Emma asks quietly, sipping from her glass, having reclaimed her seat, "You could've put him in the grave by now."

"It's vacation week! I couldn't kill a fellow student on vacation week." (Grin.)

"Seriously though... I remember when Eric was a happy little thing showing me about the academy; I don't care to hurt him now for trying to get my goat. If he looks to really hurt any of us, then I'll consider breaking him a little-- not before! I know I could."

(Is this inspired by Paradise Lost?)

(I thought this was going to be a fallout game given the beginning, but now I'm not sure what its based off of.)

"It's vacation week! I couldn't kill a fellow student on vacation week." You grin at Emma, explaining yourself loudly enough for the others to hear. "Seriously though... I remember when Eric was a happy little thing showing me about the academy; I don't care to hurt him now for trying to get my goat. If he looks to really hurt any of us, then I'll consider breaking him a little-- not before! I know I could."

[20] Emma heaves a dramatic sigh, refilling her glass, and your's with the wine. "I can't stay mad at you." She pouts but doesn't argue. Neither do Mcgee or James, who resume their conversations, more at ease now than when the night first began. Emma is quiet as you drink your wine with her. She looks like she wants to say more, but doesn't.

Relax! Socialize. Enjoy the evening. Try not to get too drunk.
Consider at some point: have we done something to make an enemy of Eric?

<Eric associates Phoebe with Mother Nicole, who seems to have a polarizing reputation. He’s also got that competitive ”I’m better than you!” personality>
