First, inject some ballistic.  Then, take flight, activate inferno, and attempt to use the heat to sear off the protective metal carapace on its torso while avoiding the tentacles.

Brute-force the "arithmetic" if we have to. This is no time for mathematical niceties.

You slam the syringe into your arm, jumping back from the tentacles that attempt to lash your prone form. The familiar rush burns through your veins. Your mind rushes, and your body struggles to keep up. With a twist of your wings, you rise into the air.

[19-1] You call forth your Inferno, letting it lash and shift around you. The fires burn bright, crackling with energy, and are a faint blue in the day. You focus, expanding it until it twists into a savage nimbus of writhing, luminous, blue fire. The Worm stares with a multitude of eyes, then screams at you in garbled static, lunging forth.

[20-1 vs. 16] The explosive fury of your Inferno washes over the Worm, searing and shriveling its unprotected tentacles. It draws back with a hiss, lunging with the other side-- you let yourself drop, and they whistle pointlessly overhead. You drive the Inferno forward, the Worm's armor hissing and spitting as it begins to melt. It flinches back in pain, drawing away from the fire.

[|||||||..]

[16-1 vs. 4] It shifts back, and with twitching of its disgusting body, energy begins to spark outward from its skin. All at once, it coalesces into lightning upon one of its limbs, and it swipes at you with it. You twist away, bringing up your Inferno to burn away the offending limb even as it cackles with enough power to fry you within your armor.

[||||||...]

[11-1 vs. 1] The two of you swipe and stab at one another, energy flashing out into the sky from both of you as you dodge and parry each other's deadly attacks. By the end of the exchange, the earth around you sprouts fulgurite, and the mud around it is baked with scorch marks -- but so is its disgusting red flesh and twisting armor.

[||||.....]

[20-1 vs. 16] You begin to feel weak-- breathing hard from the exertion of dodging while using Inferno. But you have strength enough to avoid another blow and use your nimbus of fire to hack at the creature's torso savagely. It screams as you sear through armor and flesh alike, twisting away from the savage light.

[||.......]

The nimbus collapses in on itself with a sudden pop, water droplets raining down to the ground. Your wings falter, drawing themselves in until you can barely maintain lift. Your stomach gurgles with hunger. Your mask is heady with the smell of iron as something streams from your eyes and nose. Blood, you are sure, from the strain.

The Worm is missing many of its tentacles, great savage gashes of burnt flesh scoring its flesh beneath the shifting armor, which, to bares signs of having been melted. But still, it lives, writhing and twisting, hissing its heavy static that jars you to your bones. It stares with triumph, no doubt, in your exertion.

[16-1] The air is filled with a sudden whistling as artillery shells rain down from behind you -- a few pass close enough to touch, and you lift yourself higher, out of the firing lines as a shell after shell explodes upon contact with the Worm. It screeches in pain as its form shudders from the impacts of explosive rounds.

[|........]

The static finally stops, as it collapses, still bombarded with shell after shell of artillery fire, until even that stops, leaving a broken and burned mess behind.

It's still alive, no doubt, as its black and gray ichor flows from its new wounds, but, from what you can tell of its biology, it's going into shock.

That was definitely awesome.  You should participate, by the way.  We could use more players.

The headache, the hunger-- they come from forcing the arithmetic!
No diplomacy. Let this abomination bleed out on the clean ground. Suffer not the works of the Plague to live.

Can we finish it off with a las gun blast?

With an Overload, maybe. I'd be worried about splitting our poor overworked processor in twain.

I have no idea what's going on but I would like to say that was awesome

Went better than our last encounter with one of these, to be sure!  :))

Ichor oozes from its silent mouth, its dark eyes fixed upon you.

"S̗̞͔͈͕̫o̠o̩̝n̮͢.͉̹̠" Is the last thing it speaks, its body twitching, red lightning still crackling from its skin, then it is still, the energy dissipating from its prone form. You collapse back into the mud, your body aching with your exertion. You fish out a nutrient cube, choking down the dry, dusty food. It does nothing to help your cramping stomach. So you eat another. And another. Blood is indeed streaming from your eyes, nose, and ears-- you don't brush it off. Your underlay is coated in mud and ichor.

A Crusader approaches, staring at the entity as soldiers begin to fortify the line they lost. Abominations wander haphazardly, unable to coordinate assaults -- and they are picked off, one after another without great difficulty. He tosses his canteen at you. "Those ration bars are terrible without something to drink." He collapses into the mud beside you.

You take a drink, draining it-- only to start coughing heavily. Its diluted vodka. "How are the Warmachines?" You ask, taking another bite of the cube.

"One injured, removed the infected arm." He pauses, watching you, "We would have all died, had you not shown up."

I'd like to get an assessment of the situation from people who have actually been fighting on the front.  They should have some insight on what changes need to be made.
