Well... not much was going on in life this time of year, thanks to the old lockdown.

Hope you didn't screw up academically too much this year... not the end of the world if you did, you were always a 2.1 mathematician at best.

Hope your personal life is in ok shape - bit more interesting than the present, I hope? Need to keep in touch with people, although it is difficult.

Hope Raise went ok. Unclear at this whether there'll be an event or whether I'll be able to talk to anyone. In any case.

Write some philosophy, hey? You love it, or at least tell yourself you do.

Watch out for the procrastination... kinda an issue at the moment. Got to get on with a lot of things in life. Figure out what you want from it.

Keep working on yourself. I wasn't the fittest when I wrote this, but confident I can get back to where I should be. Did I?

Look after the parents. Hope they're alright. Register to vote!

So, you've survived a whole 'nother year. Huh.

How has uni been? Is it fucking you over like it sorta was last year? You're gonna be in... Semester 3 (if my calculations are correct) by the time you read this. I'm betting it's harder than Sem 1, that's for sure.

I hope you've developed as a person. In 2020, I discovered I was nonbinary, and in 2019, I noticed that there were things wrong with my mind and had them corrected. What will you, future-me, discover next? Given my exponential growth as a person, I'm projecting some frankly incredible growth from you. It's like a 5-year plan, of which I'm only expecting the first 3 years to pan out as planned.

How's that weight loss thing going? 2020, I've ended at 120 kg, a good start, I think. How low have you gone, and what did you do to pull that off? Have you agreed with Dad, and started saying that every snack is "corn syrup" and "poison"?

How's your social life? I've managed to make friends in uni, which is far more than I expected. Did you expand your friend circle, or manage to outright make entirely new circles? I managed to pull this off with a social model that can only simulate interactions between 2 people only; have you improved to... 3, maybe 4?

Any, uh, new crushes or even relationships yet? That's gonna be fun. Current sexuality data would suggest gynephilia, but considering how few crushes you seem to have (once every two years, Jesus), it's hard to say with much certainty. If so, have you admitted it to them? I don't suspect you'd actually go out with them, but one data point would suggest that it's a good idea. Hope that you fucked up less than before, if so.

Hey kiddo, I'm going to do what I can to take care of you this year. Please take good care of 2022 me, too. I know it's hard right now, but you've been through hard things before.

Don't forget to reach out to your friends and make sure that they are okay. They've done a lot of heavy lifting keeping you alive and sane this year. You have a responsibility toward them.

Work hard and be respectful, please. Don't be selfish. Take care of your parents.

If you've left therapy, this is your reminder that you should go back.

Don't get angry or frustrated, just bide your time and wait until the wind is right. That was a lesson that I learned this year, so I want to remind you just in case. There's no need to be forgiving, but be patient and study the territory before you make your move. Be calm even when you're faced with disaster, cruelty, or misfortune. You and I both know that you won't make it if you get wrapped around the axle about the unfairness of the world.

But: if you didn't manage it in 2021, I'm requesting firmly that you stop putting things off for "some other year when I'm less tired." Holding on patiently is a good quality but you can't do that forever. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and try harder to make something good out of the life you've been given.
