After informing Genesis of the vine's properties, Grey puts his magic into action.

Grey grabs a rock, orientates himself in the opposite direction of where his needle link with Tess was before she teleported and takes a few steps forwards. While moving, he Maintains the rate at which the rock is moving towards the glove's destination, except at the times when Grey desires it to stop moving. (Is this possible? Guess we'll see.) He then lets go of the rock.

"Huzzah my friend! I've found Nothing!" HE hoists nothing in HIS hands looking at HIS companion Aaron with giddiness "Nothing will be my shield!".

Tests out Nothing

[4]
Sunny puts HIS...nothing up to see how well it blocks. It...uh...well its very light.

Aaron chuckles good-naturedly at Sunny's comment, and then talks to Hugh again.
"The Kill Corps are working their way slowly into the forest south of here. Ask everybody there if there is anything useful I or Sunny can do before we leave the clearing. Otherwise, we'll come join you. I feel, since we are an Investigation Corps, we should be going on ahead of the other Corps, and investigating.

While he waits for a response, Aaron walks into the forest, and gets the sturdiest limb or small tree trunk he can, as a quarterstaff. He then gives it to Sunny.

"Here, my merry man, have a staff for our travels!"

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

((I can bring Sunny with me if needed. It worked with Genesis and Sharpe.))
[6]
You head out into the forest and come back with a 10 foot tall sapling you've  somehow ripped straight out of the earth. You toss it to Sunny D who is promptly toppled over by the weight of it.

Tug twice on my thread to Grey. there's no benefit to being out here alone and lost like this. re-link with him afterwards
"Lost track of the glove. No point in hanging out there solo."
You warp out to Grey and the rest of the group.

Hugh lowers his needle.  “Ho! Ho! Ho!  Well, it looks like we’re not in any danger right now, so I suppose we can relax!”, he says as he attempts to pull a new set of gloves from out of the sleeve of his robe.

He then notices the arrival of Genesis and his companion.  “Ho! Ho! Ho!  And who would you be, if I might ask?”, he asks the woman, bowing respectfully.

And, by the way, where are the others?

When Grey begins following his pet rock, Hugh begins following also, needle at the ready and occasionally scanning his surrounding (both with his eyes and with his needle).

Spoiler: Hugh (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Needle Links (click to show/hide)
No gloves are to be found in your sleeves.

You follow Grey, if he ever eventually gets up

Scan around with my normal eyes. Relink with Grey. Stab a vine with my Needle, not the murderlance, for some juicy dark magics (assuming I am informed of their hostility). Make a note as to the direction Tess is from the group. Is she far behind the advance group?? You said before that it was likely going to be many hours to the location.

"This is Sharpe, she's Capture Corps. Destroy Corps is here as well. Let's not get in each others' ways.
Hello Grey. Got yourself stabbed?
Hugh, the others are back at the crater. They have their needles, so as long as they are linked they can find us."

Spoiler: Genesis (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: links (click to show/hide)
You look around. Forest, darkness, angry vines. Yep not great. You relink with grey and then stab a vine with your needle. A section of vines about 6 feet around shrivels and bursts into purple black light that then disappears into your needle. Tess is....Right here  about 10 feet away. Hmm.

"Hey guys these vines are growing fast enough you can actually see it happening, probably don't want to spend the night here or stick around to long."
Poke the vines with my needle and see what happens while I wait for the others to desire what we're doing from here.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Needle Links (click to show/hide)
Much like with Genesis, your poke results in a large chunk of vines vanishing and strange black magic being absorbed into your needle.

The rock, newly enchanted, floats straight up and vanishes into the sky. How helpful.

The sky, already gloomy, fades to nearly black and open air transforms to thick clouds. Lightning lances out in spreading arcs from somewhere to the north. A voice, half made of thunder and half of a woman's voice, washes across the forest in a palpable wave.

Even within their robes everyone can feel cold bite into their skin as though ice had just been pressed against their bare flesh. The feel a weight press onto their shoulders and an odd sensation between their shoulder blades. Someone is watching. Someone is HERE.

"Oh how kind o-" Sunny says before toppling over under the trees weight, then in a very gravelly voice says "Please get lighter." Sunny requests the sapling become a bit lighter. then shivers at the sound of the voice "That doesn't sound friendly at all."

"North."
Put my hood up, change appearance to that of bramble. Use the magic in my needle to blend in with the surrounding in aura as well. I guess tap the needle onto the cloak to let teh magic sort of externally coat the cloak without interfering with it. Then head north with my two big stabbers. peek through my glove again. Still skittering?

Hugh sees Genesis change his appearance to that of bramble and does the same.

Ho! Ho! Ho!  That seems like a good idea!  That Lady did not sound welcoming!

Hugh then continues following Grey,  needle at the ready, periodically scanning his surrounding both with his needle and without, ready to defend himself and the others.

"Oh, sorry. I should have removed the root ball, at least.

Aaron attempts to form the magic in his needle into a saw-bladed knife with a blade about the length of his palm. If successful, he saws the root ball off with that, and then stores the knife in he sleeve. Otherwise, he stabs the base of the tree with his needle until he can break the root ball off by hand.

"You just tore me out of the fucking ground and now you're complaining I'm fat?" The sapling says in a rattling wooden voice. It suddenly sprouts new roots and branches that pin you to the ground and cage you in.

"Sharpe."  The new woman responds. You wait for more explanation but it never comes.

You stick with the group, needle in hand, ready to poke.

"North."

You touch the bramble and then convert your robe and appearance to it. You don't become a bush or a man shaped bramble patch, instead the robe becomes something like a ghillie suit, a cloak of simulated foliage which resembles the plant life around it. Its not the perfect disguise, but its several orders of magnitude better than the purple robes and should provide a high level of visual camouflage.
[1][-2 HP]
You tap the cloak with the tip of the needle and will the magic out into the fabric. The next thing you know you're laying on your back 10 feet away with your ears ringing. The piece of cloak you tapped with your needle is gone, and the skin under it is red and swollen. Seems the cloak blunted the damage the magic would have done.

Hugh sees Genesis change his appearance to that of bramble and does the same.

Ho! Ho! Ho!  That seems like a good idea!  That Lady did not sound welcoming!

You transform your robe in the same way Genesis did. You neglect to also almost blow yourself up with dark magic though.

[5]
The knife you form from the black magic in the needle is...unpleasant. Its not a knife for utility, its a knife meant to case pain. Its barbed and curved and serrated. Even the handle is embedded with small metal thorns and has a spiked brass knuckle style guard.
[2] You don't think you should try and saw this tree with that knife. You don't think it would like being used in such a way.

The group moves north, but they don't have far to go. After traveling maybe a half mile through increasingly hostile forest and even denser brambles they come across something. It appears to be a large ravine or depression, a giant crater that they've walked onto the lip of. The forest spreads about halfway down into it, while the center is bare. The entire crater is strewn with buildings but those out here on the edges are badly dilapidated and clearly long abandoned, overgrown and crumbling away. Closer to the center the buildings are in better repair though still obviously old and weather worn. Those near the center the the most well maintained. Further north you can see a large lake cradled in the hills, with the barely visible remnants of roads leading out of the crater and towards the water.  The center of the crater is a bare stone pit , clearly excavated, with old buildings leaning precariously inwards at its edge.  This must be Greenveil.

There are human shapes visible in the central, open area of the town, and more just barely visible within the overgrown areas around the center. Its not exactly a bustling city but you'd guess there are at least a few hundred people in town. And the center of that town is....anti-glowing. It is noticeably darker near the center and that stone pit in the center is midnight dark.  The voice you heard a while ago is now noticeably audible, echoing through the town and crater. Its still loud but more...mundane sounding. Its not half thunder at least.

"Hey, one: I wasn't the one that tore you from anywhere." frowning Sunny looks up at Aaron "My friend did, and two: I never said you were fat." he adds poking the sapling "Please, let me go and I'll try to make up for my comment!" Sunny tries reasoning with the sapling.

"This place doesn't seem near as pleasant and charming as the brochure made it out to be. Also how are we planing on doing this because I have a feeling we're gonna have to kill a few of these people in order to get anywhere near the town center."
While people decide what the plan is I stay with the group and try to see if any of the buildings near the teams current position are in good shape and see if I can't figure out what they where used for before becoming abandoned.

"Looks like we're inside the veil.

Why would we need to kill any of them? We only need to determine the cause of the kidnappings and ensure they don't happen anymore. If you cannot talk them down, use your gloves to push the magic out of them."

Inspect my damaged robe. still effective as a disguise? Either way, move toward the central excavation.
