So I've been considering cutting my hair for a while now. This picture was from last year; its even longer now. (Forgive the hyper-drama pose, at the time I thought it was cool and mysterious, perfect for a myspace page or something.)

I really like it, but its beyond hellish to maintain. I guess I'm just trying to decide if it would look good shorter or if I should keep it long.

it looks great right now, but ultimately, it's your choice. I know I reached a point where I decided to get rid of my hair rather than maintain it, and mine wasn't even 3 inches.

Having cut off an almost waist length ponytail, there are days that I miss it, but I never miss it in the shower. If you're worried about what it would look like, or worried about going too short with it, cut a little bit at a time.

It's not that bad, at least you had the sense to keep it somewhat sane. Dark Room! Angled Camera! Not showing all of the face! Pouty face!

And yeah, go at it a little at a time. It's good hair for being that long.

Looks like she could probably get away with any of those. Unless her hair does something odd at shorter lengths, anyway.

Shoulder length might be best, since that's a lot easier to maintain but doesn't go into 'ack I have no hair!' territory. One of my friends went to a pixie cut from hair almost as long as yours a few years ago and kind of freaked about it. She's back to really long hair now.

Nice thing about hair, though, is that it'll grow back if you decide you don't like having shorter hair.

You could also go in stages. Cut it so that it's just a few inches below shoulder length and see how you like it. You can always cut it back more if you decide you need to.
