It's been snowing the last 2 days, but the snow doesn't seem to be sticking around for too long.

Nothing too exciting, I just like snow (despite having to shovel it and all).
For someone who's never seen snow, these photos are really neat!

Gah! Barbarossa!

You're adorable~!

Also seriously, it's really great to see you. And what an awesome nerd-hobby, you absolute dweebus!
Exactly what she said o_o
I am very :D in seeing all that--also the sewing and making your own garments! You also did your own medieval battle gear?! :O

I've always wondered how to feel snow, and by just seeing it in many situations, I can imagine its feel.

...It's like cold, hard/soft detergent bars, right? :D Or that really soft shaved ice bits?

Depends on the kind of snow. Some is kiiiiinda like ice shavings, but soft and easily compressed. Some is really dry and powdery. And then of course there's slush, and snow compressed so much it's almost ice-like, and and and...

I do Amtgard now; a sort-of-larp-sort-of-sport game with medieval combat and some magic. I'm wearing lacrosse gloves, because even a padded weapon to the knuckles hurts. (My hands are actually not the size of dinner plates.) My favorite weapon is the greatsword I'm carrying, but I also fight sword+shield and single shortsword quite a bit. I also have been learning to sew. (I made all the garb I'm wearing!)

Barbarossa confirmed for paladin

Adding to list of people to beat in the name of myselfThe Dark Lord during the end times.

Rad coat, too. Am also jelly of hair, since I cut mine. We will meet again, me glorious mane ;~;7

It feels like the sky has gently shat misery on to you, in my experience.
I don't like snow, so in my mind at least, you're not really missing much.

It's why Eskimos have so many words for the stuff.
Technically it's because of they way the Inuit language works. They combine nouns and verbs and adjectives into very long compound words, kind of like German.

Theoretically, if it's snowy outside, you dress in such a manner that you do not get any on your skin.

If snow is gently falling upon you in big flakes, it feels like soft cold touches of heaven. Blizzard, on the other hand, can feel like ice cold very coarse sandpaper continuously and vigorously rubbed against any exposed patch of your skin. Wet snow feels like misery - ditto, Giglamesh.

Really? That's fascinating. I'm gonna have to go see if there's a book of Inuit grammar in the library.

I quite enjoy rough weather, as a rule (I've been known to shout "howl wind and crack your cheeks" into deluges of rain a la mad Lear), but it snows comparatively rarely (and more gently than Russia, I'm sure) here that I don't really have an experience of blizzard-snow. Still, what we do have I find beautiful.

That is a very wonderful photo--also from someone trying to study photography, that is a very snowy photo. :3

Also thank you all for the info on snow! ^ ^
So it's just like rice. How many words we have for it. :P [/localpun]

Snow, it's so polarizing.
It's also nice to see people sporting some slick glasses around here.
