The example interaction within the raws has the mummy curse giving this:
Code: [Select]
[CE_SKILL_ROLL_ADJUST:PERC:0:PERC_ON:20:START:0]
This means that there is a 20% chance that any skill roll you make will be done at 0% of your current skill level. Which means that regardless of your skill, you always have a 20% chance to botch an action. Since there is no defined end to this effect, it will last forever.

And I made a mistake earlier. It's mummies that cannot become werebeasts or vampires. The syndrome class DISTURBANCE_CURSE is applied to the mummy, and not their victim. I misread the raws before.

This is without a doubt my least favorite part of Dwarf Fortress.
I love robbing tombs, but I hate that I get screwed over permanently for doing it.

Thankfully, you can disable mummies in the advanced world generator, so that the regal dead can stay dead. You could also mod in your own variation of the toilet roll spooks, if you wanted.

Even without mummies, tombs can still be a dangerous place if you are not capable of spotting traps easily.

Ohh...I'm an idiot.
I thought disabling disturbance entities in the advanced world generator would mean no tombs.

Attacks to the lower body can result in a 'gelding blow'.

How do i view the local area map that you see when in travel screen, when you're in an area that you cannot fast travel in, such as a Dark Fortress.

Best method I've found so far is to wait for one hour and use the time spent skipping time to take a glance at the local map.

Press shift+q, then s, pick the site you're at, and press z. You have to be in the same world tile as the site. Its not quite the same map but its better than nothing.

but does the gelding skill contributes to that? or is just part of the combat mechanics? like any other part chopping...

Fairly certain that the skill has nothing to do with it. It's just a part of regular combat.
