Ran into that with my first world.  I've killed a few Eater of Souls (all one at a time of course), after they latched onto me when I wandered two screens away from my house.  They're not that hard to kill, easier than Pinkies really, since they're slow to react, just tons of hitpoints when you're using wooden weapons.

I just found a pinky. You can not tell me that there is a non-slime enemy easier than those things.

Right now I'm disassembling the exterior of my world's dungeon. Delicious green bricks and blue walls...

Oh, and I've been grinding skeletons for a while, but they haven't dropped any hooks yet. :(
EDIT: I was going down and I got a lag spike just as I fell into lava. :(

The reason I mention them together is that Pinkies have 150 hitpoints, and jump high and fast compared to Eaters who just float toward you and spin around when you hit them.

Well, you can sell it. And throw it into the lava. The latter melts it, but not into any usable parts.

Only thing you can deconstruct into its component parts is coinage, so far as I know.

The only corruption in my world is at the ocean just past the dungeon... that's boring. :\
I also hate how your gender is determined by your hair style. The ponytail is the only thing that looks good to me and my character makes the female sounds.
