I just found myself in a situation where I was getting mauled by a billion slimes, so I grappled to the ceiling and checked my inventory for ranged weapons. I found one, sort of:

 This is why I'm starting to haul around grenades with me. They clear up sticky situations like that rather well.

Mm... any idea if the sticky formula applies to grenades and TNT or not? I haven't tried those yet, but was terribly disappointed when a sticky bomb didn't latch on to skeletron's head. Only blocks, apparently :-\

Mayhaps, though I just realized that even if I were to try and purchase it now I still have to change my billing info at the bank as I've just moved and I'd have to go through paypal as well which means waiting either way.

I finally got a grappling hook!  Think that water candle helped quite a bit.  (Stole it from right outside the dungeon.  Heh.)

Soooo now I should make a grappling hook obstacle course. Anyone done anything like that yet?

Found magma, got a magic mirror, mirrorported home. Now to go into the corruption and smash another shadow orb to summon the EoW, so I can mine out the obsidian I made while I was down there. It's been about an ingame week since I smashed the first two, but I still haven't been meteor'd.

EDIT: Eye of Cthulhu. Flintlock pistol w/ 2500 shots. It's on.

EDIT2: 507 shots fired, eye dead.

You can mine obsidian with gold picks just fine, one of the easiest ways to make money i've found (except selling bottles) is selling loads of those skull thingies.

Of course, how much are hellstone bars worth? Is the extra time/difficulty in getting them worth it?

It's dynamite-proof too, right? Because I would hate it if it wasn't. Those two sticks of it sitting in my inventory would probably have gotten me enough for a skull, but it doesn't matter anyway because I haven't heard about any meteorites landing.

EDIT: Oh hey there, goblins. I still have 1993 musket balls, and now they're for you.

EDIT2: How good are spiky balls against EoW?
