I played this before a little bit, but never really got into it because building a bunch of stuff in single player without anyone to see it made me feel silly, and no one I knew played it. How is the DF server? I might get it if the multiplayer is fun.

1/5 exploration and multiplayer shenaningans.

Well, compared to last world, megaprojects are slightly scaled down but still fun.

EDIT: Restored my plundered Sun Cathedral to greatness.

EDITEDIT: I want some PVP :c

People were throwing things at me when I just lowered the bloody thing by a dozen or so blocks, bah.

On the flip side, completely excavating one of the deserts and turning it into a greenhouse was met with various sorts of applause. That was nice :)

Really? That seems strange to me, it is the Dwarf Fortress community after all. We're the people who made hell with infinitely respawning Fun habitable! Ridiculous megaprojects is our modus operandi! I also made sure I wasn't interfering with any projects, so it isn't griefing either.
Then again, it's fairly easy to fix, it just takes time.

Edit: Seems I was wrong and water on the edges does not respawn infinitely. That's... kinda awkward... I was sure it did... That makes it much harder, if not impossible, to fix.

Do you mean west as in actual real world west (west) or ingame where the sun sets west (right)? If it's the former I'm going to have to have a few cross words for you.

It is not hard to believe that Terraria is set in a world where the sun sets in the East.
