That happens to me too! Just when I go into, and then out of my inventory, BOOP my current item is item number 8.

I get this problem with slot 9.

You can still have signs in singleplayer.

Even if I didn't know that, it would mean i never made a sign...

Now, I destroyed a shadow orb, don't remember if a meteor fell anywhere though. Is there a 100% chance that a meteor drops the first time? Because I cannot find one throughout my world (including the bottoms of corruption chasms).

It usually says so if a meteor has appeared.

I think if it's 12:00 AM, then a meteor immediately lands. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until it crashes.

Also, if there's too much meteors on your world, the game won't spawn more meteors until you take care of it (mine it, blast it).

I don't think meteors work the same way they used to. I was having meteors land instantly upon breaking orbs in 1.1, and that's not how the code for meteors worked in the earliest versions (They never did that, and each orb only had a fixed chance to call down a meteor and if it didn't, it never would. But if at least one was broken there was a small chance of one to fall each night, so even if there were no more orbs you could still get more meteors occasionally.).

Time of day has an effect. What I read said if an orb was broken during a certain time, the meteor wouldn't fall until that night if at all. If broken during a different time, it would fall instantly.

If a shadow orb is smashed between midnight and (I believe) dawn, the meteor will fall immediately. Otherwise, it will fall the next midnight.

So anyone else think a stinger gun would be totally rad?
It could be made with illegal gun parts, jungle spores, and vines, and it'll shoot stingers (duh). With a chance of poisoning, too.

Let me guess how that would be like..

You shoot your enemy with the stringshot, the enemy is then immobilized, being all wrapped up.
The string is still attached so you can reel it in for the kill.
Would probably not work for bosses or semi bosses.

Maybe it would require to shoot the enemy multiple times before it gets immobilized, depening on the enemy.
And to reel it in it must first be caught in the silky mess, then just shoot at it once again.

Now that would be an interesting weapon indeed..

Tweak the harpoon to draw enemies in when it retracts. The stringshot is a weapon made using this new-and-improved harpoon and, perhaps, web and/or gel.

Harpoon, webs, and a spinneret from a semi-boss giant spider introduced along with the stringshot.

I'm thinking post wall non-hallow/corruption area night time attack. You hear a little skittering noise and then it starts raining spiders. As you kill them, it starts raining bigger spiders, until it culminates in a giant clown-spider that spews webbing and exploding baby spiders everywhere.

Kinda' like a post-wall King Slime just... eight legged.

Today I learned what hardmode was and how to get it. Today I remembered all the voodoo dolls that were feet away from lava, before I knew what they were, while trying to rush mine hellstone... Thank god they didn't fall into that lava, and thank god I picked them all up to sell them.
