I have yet to play that game, because my brother has yet to finish it (been about a year now) but I totally agree with you on the art style.

Yeah good spotting. Over the last two weeks I've been heavily inspired by S&S. Before then my pixel art style was looking more along the lines of my avatar, more standard black outline style stuff.
I listen to the music all the time as well. You guys should really check out Jim Guthrie if you haven't already.

I made a DF background in the style as well.

Black with title and white & plain

I did all the occupations, not including all the army stuff. They're all in order of how they're found in the Z screen.
