Concentrate, try to make my hands release energy into the sand, or whatever that yellow glow is.

Follow the tunnel, paying close attention to the walls.
Get rope and grappling hook. Explore with Chief. Pay close attention to the floor and ceiling.
You scramble up the steep incline and past a few tunnels that are too small to enter. As you progress, you notice that there is a light coming from somewhere up ahead, and that the temp in the tunnel is rising steadily as you go. Judging from the sounds, particularly the echos, there's something up ahead. A large opening or cave, most likely.

Points of glowing light? Like those things the Eater called that first night? Also, charge a Will bonus. I want to see if I can pull one of the glowing things up soonish.
No...not quite the same. You thinking about them also doesn't seem to do anything. It's as though the potion is highlighting something in the world and allowing you to see it, but giving you no real power over it.

((If we wouldn't make it by nightfall, I'm +1ing Kedly's underground idea.))

"The night approaches.  Can one of you foreign imperialists ask your king whether we shall reach the pit at this rate before it becomes night?  We dead do love the dark, you know, but sadly so does the Eater."

Use an int roll on that vulture-like deadly fireball to try and ascertain its nature.
Nothing fucking good! Clearly related to the eater, but also clearly different. If you can see it like this then it is pretty damn big; and pretty damn bright.

You're just gonna assume that if that thing comes down here, being anywhere near it is probably fatal.

Concentrate, try to make my hands release energy into the sand, or whatever that yellow glow is.
The sand around your hands half explodes, half crumbles, collapsing into a brownish powder.

"Let's try to get a little more speed."
Try to go a bit faster.

ONWARD AND ONWARD AND ONWARD
Onward to more glory!

You've reached the final marker. In the distance, maybe 7-10 miles out across the dunes, is an area which appears burnt black, an enormous volcanic crater by the look of it.

The sun is getting near the horizon.

Nightfall is coming.

Do we continue to try to haul ass through the desert with the Ghoul Squad, or stop here? Opinions?

"We believe that we should wait until both "suns" are directly overhead before we perform the sacrifice.  Thus, it is our royal opinion that we prepare for the night and pray to the over-gods of the dead that we survive it."

Piecewise: In our collection opinion, can we cover 7-10 miles of volcanic wasteland in the time between dawn and noon, assuming King Dickbutt's helpers are still around?

Continue onward and observe the temperature gradient once more. How quick is it in comparison to the one we encountered digging downward?

Yes. You'll have to haul ass, but you can do it.

((One night more.  Shall we?
I will be striking through my bold as better plans are proposed for our corpse workforce.  For now, stealing Kedly's idea.))

"There is clearly a connection between the Eater and the sky, as Vincent suggested," the false king mused as he glanced at the fireball.  "Perhaps that connection should be severed."

"It is also our regal recommendation that we have as many people as possible heating the Eater at all times.  Yes, no shifts, though we should certainly pay extra attention to the Eater at the time the third shift would be.  We can afford to pull an all-nighter-- the end is literally in sight."

King Sulan'takan'litkham'ramen III ordered his mummified subjects, and gestured or demonstrated as necessary, to begin digging an underground tunnel to store the Eater using whatever tools are on hand.  It should be as deep as possible shallow with a nice, large exit for fleeing.

Ground is cold, very cold. Take care with digging too deep, it may end badly.

"Would you suggest open air instead?  Or just a shallow tunnel as opposed to a deep one?"
