Also: we have public support. For normal people, the Southern Republic ("republic") is, quite simply, one of the very best places you can live. Please recall, this is in the 1500s or so; the world hasn't even been circumnavigated yet. We're certainly no worse than any of the European feudal societies, and we have 1900s-modern technology.

This is true, for the record. I'm going by "we have 20th century engineering, 21st century electronics"

Glass is, as usual, correct.
Yep, as ever, I bestow upon Glass the expected +1
I'm gonna say we go with whatever Glass's idea is.

WE HAVE THE INTERNET.

EARLY 21st century. And now I feel tempted to redact that...

To be specific: For the tech level of the Republic, assume "19th century engineering, late 20th century electronics". So we're still running off steam and trains and coal and stuff, but telegrams are getting replaced with telephones, important records can occasionally be digitized, central energy grid exists, semiconductor science beginning, etc.

Yeah here. Sorry. I was one century up.

"The online world then took on a more recognizable form in 1990, when computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web. "

"Commercial Internet service providers (ISPs) emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The ARPANET was decommissioned in 1990. Besides, without connections to the rest of the world it likely develops later.

We'll say that's why you can communicate perfectly with all branches of the military, at any time.

Ok so this is the way we're going to play this. You have to roll for each group evacuated, and then one roll for the battle as a whole. Evacuating a group means that they can no longer contribute to the battle, but they’re safe from what happens next.

Evacuating the wounded gives you -1 to the battle but a +1 to the next Political roll you make.
Jacob and Anna have plot armor, removing them increases the chance of “everyone dies”
The Visionaries have crowd-control psychic abilities, removing them increases the chance of “surrounded and captured”
The Cherubs and dogs are specialists that can turn the tide of the battle, removing them increases the chances of “bloody stalemate”
Removing the Andantesite-disabling weapons… keeps the Andantesite-disabling weapons safe. The Andantesite has already been cut, there’s nothing more they can do.

As for evacuating the wounded… you have 13 people dead and 15 crippled, including Anna and Fansworth, just for the record. You can check real-time stats here. Of people that are still in fighting shape, you have 1 cherub and 10 soldiers, not counting named characters.

Wait, on second thought, that kinda sucks.

Spoiler: Mechanism for losses (click to show/hide)

You're now rolling a d2 and d3…

Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)

“Get our wounded evacuated!” Celling shouts. “Get David and Julia out of here!”

The wounded men are carried towards safety at the end of the dock. Julia is escorted off as well. David refuses to go. “I sure can still fight,” says David. He indicates a building nearby, and your men turn to aim at it. A moment later a disorganized horde of Goons charges out of it, screaming insults and shooting madly with pistols. A few shots hit the men running the evacuation, and they fall. A small pile of bodies is building up at the end of the dock.

The men fight their best, hiding around buildings and picking off the Goons in a pitched battle. The Cherub and Dog remaining help as well, blasting and snapping their way through the enemy ranks. David Eborrenial calls out targets to pre-empt any sort of surprise attack and blasts the Goons with waves of actinic blue mind-energy. But eventually, there’s just too much and you’re overcome by Goonswarm’s men. They form a circle around Celling, Fansworth, the remaining guards and soldiers, the rebels, and David.

You can see the Mittani, standing atop a nearby building, staring grimly down at you. “It’s over, Celling!” he shouts. “Surrender or die!”

Incoming communication from The Mittani...

What do you do?

A: Surrender
B: Fight to escape
C: Say something to the Mittani in-character (for OOC you want this link)
D: Shoot the Mittani
E: Call in a missile strike on your location. This probably will kill you, but will blow up the dock and likely wipe out Goonswarm.
Is narid?

E. Time for a Heroic Sacrifice. I mean, since you made it that Death is the Only Option, and taking into account that we can Take Mittani with us and that Redemption Equals Death (and vice versa), and that Celling's death is a great time to show Erin's emotional side (grief at his friend's death, regret that any of this happened, etc.), it's an excellent opportunity to get the plot on our side.
And who knows! Maybe the plot will take mercy on us, and Celling will end up Not Quite Dead.

Also, fuck Mittani.
