Is that true? For some reason I kinda figured I would have to start from rank 0 like everyone else.
Er... Squelchy (stage 2) is here, Ulkas (stage 5) is here, even Gray (stage 3) came later?  ???

Science is always important. But it needs more flaming cats. Can't we build bridge-based catapults and fling flaming cats at the dust and goo?

It's time for the ATHATH Death Counter to increase once more in celebration for the end of the world.

Turn 12:

Turn 11

Squelchy, the Omnislime (Coolrune206)
Squelchy reports the forest as dangerous but survivable to all the members of his group, although they've probably figured that out. He then rests for the rest of the turn in direct sunlight,
trying to recover.

You share your important findings to the other slimes. All but the bravest can't help but shiver in fear when you come to the part of the deadly dragon made of ooze.

Flavor Roll: [1]

A slime named Mop-Mop raises his metaphorical voice once you are done. While the orchard area is a wonderful and apparently safe place, they discovered soon the reason why: this place is the lair of an incredibly powerful monster, who fortunately didn't see the slimes as a threat.

He starts describing a great creature with scales and fur, the gaps between the scales radiating with energy. It also has a long and thick tail, longer than half its body. It also has seven eyes on its reptilian head.

You take the information at heart, and then decides to take a rest. It doesn't seem like the creature is bothered by your presence for now.

You rest in direct sunlight, synthesizing energy for your body. Time passes, and you are left undisturbed in thsi peaceful place.

MP Fully Recovered
Ailments Cleared

Once you have recovered, there is the matter of what to do next for your community. Stay here and attempt talking to the ruler of the place? Or leave and find another place?

Nearby Monsters:
-A lot of friendly slimes

Spoiler: Squelchy Status (click to show/hide)

Neophytos the Sole Survivor, Psychic Pain Spider (randomgenericusername)
Hide in the trees and keep going south. Use my telepathy to scan the area for any monster that could be nearby while moving.

Sneak+Telepathy Scanning: -2MP
Action Roll (Diff 5): [16]
Outcome Roll: [5] -Critical Success-

You move along the trees, melding into the shadows. With your great telepathic powers you manage to avoid any would-be threat. Any monster emiting hostile thoughts, you avoid the path.

And then finally, you reach an area further south in the jungle that none of the community ever explored. The vegetation is extremely lush, and the tree density high. It is really a tropical sea in there.

You spot a familiar presence ahead, coming toward you. It is not hostile, and it is an Arachnastinian. There are two more presences with it.

You stop moving, and wait for them to reach you.

"You did come. Wonderful, allow us to escort you throughout our lands. You may know my name, I am Kelechikara, you may reduce it to Kelech. You may ask questions along the way."

He invited you to ride on his back.

Nearby Monsters:
-Kelechikara, Arachnastinian Diplomat
-2 Arachnastinian Warriors

Gordy the Toothbaby (Paxiecrunchie)
I maintain my combative stance crouched ready to leap like a flea or a frog, perhaps spring would be a better adjective I thought, but no matter,.
I still was not truly interested in taking on a possible foe such as this now that the element of surprise, my clans chief asset had been lost, but the monster was was wrong I was not simply biding for time or begging for my life as both would be pointless at the moment instead I was watching its every move attempting chiefly to determine how fast it could move and thus devise a strategy to over come its attack

.....

However before anything more occurred I responded to to the eels question;l ''Neither, It is just that if you do eat me you shall be paralyzed for a twelth of a day, long enough for say a crocodile to take its time with you or for your skin to dry in the sun. ''[I of course kne this was a half truth as only if my tendril was swallowed would the eel be in any direct danger of such a fate, but eels cannot chew...right ?]
I hastily add in.
''Additionally I could be of greater value to you alive, for you see I can take over any body larger than my own and would be more than willing to help aid a great lord of the river such as yourself by bringing you any meaL...or slave you desire.'

I speak no further preparing either for an attack or an offer in return.

TLDR; He is causing delay to look for weaknesses, he will not make the first strike if blows come in this sort of scenario and is attempting to dissuade the beast by pointing out that he can be a great ally if alive and possibly a deadly obstacle even if killed' basically he is relying on speed or hopefully intimidation/persuasion as he is physically weaker.

[I hope I have given Gordy sufficient personality here to show that he is a cautious individual and yet proud of his abilities. Let me know what you think]

The eel let out a powerful laugh.
"That's interesting! Well, how about a deal? You bring me a meal, and I don't eat you. I am a magnanimous creature, I will pay you back."

The eel then reared, emerging from the muddy stream. Its lower body was far bigger and imposing than you imagined. Towering above you, the eel then said.

"So, do we have a deal?"

[Yes]: "As an aquatic based creature, I cannot hunt deep into the land. There is one particular delicacy my diet has been lacking... I desire to eat some eggs from the bird monsters that make their nests close by. Just bring me a few of these, and I will be satisfied."
[No]: ?

Nearby Monsters:
-Mangrove Tentacled Eel Monster [Not enough inspiration for a name]

Spoiler: Gordy's Status (click to show/hide)

Xizilitiz, the Lesser Angel (crazyabe)
REST.

Flavor Roll: [3]

You moved a bit farther away, finding a suitable place to rest under the shadow of a bunch of close grown trees. In this relatively safe place, you rested for a while to recover your lost forces.

You recovered 6HP
MP fully recovered

Fortunately, nothing disturbed you, even as the hours passed. You noticed that the sun was going to set soon, casting a shadow on the fields of grass.

Spoiler: Xizilitiz Status (click to show/hide)

Skee, the Insect Parasite (Legendary Marksdorf)
Rather than giving precise commands to it's host, Skee decided to simply instruct the Junbara to kill the amphibian. This way, maybe he'd get to see some of the Junbara's special skills ?

You decide to let the Junbara uses its abilities without your impeding control.

Aerial Slam:
Combat Roll (Str 1 vs Con 0): [3]+2 (Initiative (+2)) vs [8]
Critical Roll: [10] -Critical Defense-
Damage: 4*2=8

Saving Roll: [4]
Damage reduced to 6.

The Junbara rears back, and leap toward a nearby tree. Using it as a crude springboard, it launches itself toward the amphibian.

But the monster dodges the Junbara with incredible deftness, and counterattack by jumping on its back and biting at its neck with its sharp fangs. With a powerful snap, it nearly breaks the spine of your host.

Nearby Monsters:
-Two-legged amphibian monster

Spoiler: Skee Status (click to show/hide)

(Shard of) Breadweed, the Resilient (ATHATH)
"To be honest, sir, I did. When one enters a new dimension, their skills, spells, techniques, biology, items, etc. will be adapted to fit the mechanics of the world that they're in. I used to be/am skilled in my world's alchemy; I suppose it's just taking a bit longer than usual for my skills to adapt to the alchemy of your world. Well, either that or the Shattering has damaged my mind. Maybe a bit of both."

Look inside of the butterfly and try to find the most potent parts of it. In my world, appendixes were quite important/powerful; maybe start there?

"Adapt faster then." grunted the right head.

How impolite. You started looking at the inside of the butterfly, touching the flesh and the organs.

The creature once more screamed in pain, this time in monstrous tongue. It was begging for the pain to stop.

"Don't mind that. They need to be kept alive, or the organs quality greatly decrease."

Organ Analysis:
Action Roll (Diff 15): [17]
Outcome Roll: [3] -Critical Success-

This creature's biology was quite bizarre, but not too eldritch. The digestive system was easy to determine, the heart too. Appendix, appendix... As you analyzed the organs with this guideline in mind, your eyes picked up something.

There was one strange organ, like a jumbled ball of nerves, which triggered some of your knowledge. Within this piece of flesh, there was a certain part that would make a great ingredient.

You picked up a carving knife, and opened up this organ. Ignoring the screams, you then extracted a single piece of flesh, small like a pebble. You proudly lifted it up, and said:
"There."

The ettin picked up the chunk, and studied it. You saw him licking it, pouring a drop of some curious liquid on it. It fizzled and you felt some magical reaction. Then it licked it again.

"Grr... That's amazing. I don't know what is this part, but it is a powerful catalyst. One could create powerful potions with that, or alchemize it to amplify the outcome of a basic recipe."

"He passes."

"We are open to listening to you now. So what are you, and what do you want to do?"

Intentions Unknown (but probably not friendly):
-Blue Ettin: Having fun?
-Butterfly monster: Not having fun

Spoiler: Breadweed Status (click to show/hide)

The Protoquin (Failbird105)
Protoquin
No. no. nononononoonono. WRONG

Kill them, get the big one between you and the tentacle thing

The atmosphere was heavy with this air of wrongness, but you didn't let that stun you. You first moved so that the giant-like nightmare would be right between you and the tendril heavy nightmare.

Tongue Lash:
Combat Roll (Str 0 vs Con -1): [3] vs [6]
Critical Roll: [4] -Normal Defense-
Combat Roll (Str -1 vs Con 0): [2] vs [1] -Critical Counterattack-
Damage: 1 Individuality

You lashed your tongue at the nightmare, but your fear and intense unease made you miss your shot. Worse, the golem grabbed your tongue, and you started feeling an influence pouring inside of you.

It felt as if something inside you was dying, as if you were changing.

The legged tendrils kept walking toward you, arriving right at the position of the golem.

Nearby Things:
-Corrupted Nightmare #1
-Corrupted Nightmare #2

Spoiler: The Protoquin Status (click to show/hide)

Eximius Res, the Rusty Ring (Hawk132)
"I got you, pal. A word of warning, it'll feel a bit weird until you get used to it."

Limiter Release!

Limiter Release:
Action Roll (5): [5]
Outcome Roll: [5] -Overshoot-

You activated the Limiter Release, lifting the physical restraints of Prias. It had been so long since the last time you did so, and you went a bit overboard this time.

"What did you- My body... is... burning!"

Prias body temperature suddenly rose to dangerous levels, and his muscles greatly hardened from contracting. You are pretty sure you heard at least one bone snapping.

"Raaaah!"

Stab (Prias): -2HP
Combat Roll (Str 2 vs Con 1): [11] vs [11]-5
Critical Roll: [5]+1 -Normal Hit-
Damage: [4]*1.5=[6]

With this newfound inhumane strength, Prias managed to pierce into the hide and flesh of the Gargarm. The empowered stab put such a strain on his body and his weapon that you heard even more bone snapping.

The Gargarm roared in pain, flailing around even more wildly, attempting to break free and crush Prias. The monster didn't manage to break from its restraints, but did weaken them a bit.

"It's still alive!"

Twist and Push (Prias): -2HP
Combat Roll (Str 2 vs Con 1): [8] vs [10]-4
Critical Roll: [6] -Normal Hit-
Damage: [8]*1.5=[12]

Prias twisted and pushed the spear even further into the Gargarm, managing to make it exit from the other side. The creature had some final spasms, and finally dropped dead.

Right afterward, Prias collapsed on the ground, unconscious. You absorbed the essence of the Gargarm.
+2 Lesser Essence
Evolution to Stage 1 enabled

Nearby Monster:
-Gargarm: Stunned / Movement Impaired / Badly Wounded

Spoiler: Eximius Res Status (click to show/hide)

Go'Von, the Strangler Ooze (Puppyguard)
Go'von fell asleep, and evolved.
((This is one of my favorite forum games so far.))

Harmony. You felt serene, and complete.

Three gray arms emerged from your oozy body. Unlike you, they were hard, almost bone like in constitution. You also felt deeper changes within your composition, different enzymes, different powers...

You woke up changed, and stronger. You were now a Strangler Ooze.

Spoiler: Go'Von Status (click to show/hide)

Theta, the Wolf (Rautherdir)
Well, time for another staring contest. Use Blinding Terror if they get too close.
I think, if you had just let it run off with it's tail between it's legs yiu would fie just about now.
((I know. But then again, the dice apparently decided to not kill me for my questionable decisions.))

Punish the Weak against the uninjured Leuscrat. If I can, use it again on the Badly Injured one afterwards.

Punish the Weak:
Combat Roll (Str 1 vs Con 0): [2] vs [7]-4 (Fleeing)
Critical Roll: [9]
Counterattack Roll (Str 1 vs Con 0): [9] vs [7]
Damage: [1]*2=[2]

With a sudden side leap, the Leuscrat managed to dodge you despite having its back turned to you. It mustered enough courage to claw you in the face, wounding you. He was now facing you, realizing it wouldn't be able to flee.

The badly injured Leuscrat managed to get back up and take more distance. He was out of your range now.

Nearby Monsters:
-Leuscrat: Terrified! / Critically Wounded
-Leuscrat#1: Terrified!
-Leuscrat#2: Greatly Terrified! / Badly Wounded / Escaping

Spoiler: Theta Status (click to show/hide)

The Azarian Project, the Thoughling (Dustan Hache)
approach the dead one and absorb the essence. Ignore the unconscious and half conscious gnomes unless they attack me. Attempt to speak for the first time in my existence.
"Shah-men. Where? What way?"

You casually emerged from your hiding spot, and claimed the essence of the dead gnome.
+1 Lesser Essence

The half-conscious gnome looked at you with hazy eyes, maybe it thought you were an hallucination. You attempted to formulate a sentence in the monstrous tongue. The gnome looked at you without really looking at you.

It didn't react. So you asked again, emphazing on the Sha and the Men. The gnome pointed toward a direction.
"Outside walls... outside walls... Shaman on outside wall..."

Nearby Monsters:
-1 Dark Gnome: Half Conscious
-1 Dark Gnome: Unconscious
-1 Dead Dark Gnome

Aspred Bagrid, the Enormous Catfish Serpent (GigaGiant)
Aspred Bagrid, the Enormous Catfish Serpent
Crush the shark's head with my mighty jaws. Then messily devour the corpse. Let out a terrifying screech after my victory.

Devour:
Combat Roll (Str 2 vs Con 1): [13] vs [7]
Critical Roll: [4] -Normal Hit-
Damage: [4]*1.5=[6]

Fulminating with rage, you closed your jaws on the shark's head, intending to crush it. But despite your immense strength, you couldn't completely crush the shark's head. Its plate were very strong.

The shark moved vigorously, and amazingly, managed to escape from your jaws! Refusing to die without a fight, it then swam at high speed toward you.

Shark Bite:
Counterattack Roll (Str 1 vs Con 1): [7]-2 (Badly Wounded) vs [7]
Critical Roll: [4] -Normal Defense-
Counterattack Roll (Str 2 vs Con 1): [6] vs [3]-2
Damage: [4]*1.5=[6]

This time, you dodged it, and replied with another crunch from your mighty jaws. Killing the shark on the spot with that move, you then savagely tore it apart, devouring it. To celebrate your might, you screeched to the ocean.

+1 Lesser Essence

Nearby Monsters:
-Boneplate Shark: Dead

Spoiler: Aspred Bagrid Status (click to show/hide)

Gray the Unstable Prismetal Blaster (Beirus)
"I am willing to take the time to learn the magic, or at least enough of it to try to develop my own."

"I think the clothes would be a good idea. And if anyone sees through it, maybe we could say Brown and I were cursed. The guard captain seemed to think that was what happened to us when I first spoke with him."

Disguise myself, since that seems like a good idea.

"Great, if you are willing and motivated, time won't be an issue. (...) A curse you said! A delightful idea, it is not unheard of people getting cursed from exploring ancient ruins in the desert."

Hinrab gave you some of his spare clothes, and asked to a bulky caravan driver if he could buy some of his clothes.

Eventually, he returned with an outfit for Brown too. The latter was quite amused and excited at wearing human clothes. Both of you put on the desert gear, completely hiding your body. You looked at Brown, who looked back at you.

The clothes suited him quite well, he looked like an enormous, muscular traveler of the desert. As of you, with your more slender form, you looked more "natural". You formed a strange pair, one could have thought you were mercenaries of the desert.

And after that, you reached Farune's gates.

Luck Roll: [4]

You managed to easily pass the control checks, as Hinrab told you were his bodyguards. He said you belonged to the mercenary tribe of the Shatarims. The officer seemed to be a novice, as Hinrab's story managed to make him forget to search further.

You were now within the city of Farune, having bid farewell to the humans of the caravan.

"I have a small home in Farune, it's quite far from where we are. Do you want to do some sightseeing in the meantime?"

Nearby Humans:
-Hinrab, Masen disciple:
-Many Civilians:

Spoiler: Gray Status (click to show/hide)

Fluorine, the Harpie - (AbstractTraitorHero)
Flourine who had been all..play and little business just a few moment's ago seemed to tense up all cheerfulness leaving their form their angular face. Their blue eye's and their white hair all seemed to almost bristle perhaps give off an aura of warning one would suppose.

It took a mere moment for them to set themselves into action.

Flourine moves back quickly before straightening up tall to appear more dignified and says the below their voice is uncharacteristically icy, to be honest. Perhaps being snapped out of their fun has left her a bit stiff!

" Why hello their...Didn't see you."

Flavor Roll: [3]

"You are from the gray mountains. What are you doing in the white mountains?"

Only its large eye blinked. Any hostily you could have felt, it had now disappeared.

Nearby Monsters:
-Snowstorm Triclops

Spoiler: Fluorine Status (click to show/hide)

Ulkas, the Horned Demon (Sarrak)
"Well, now we know that some interesting artifact remain and that guardian does react to mana usage. We can probably test some more, but let's haste to other places before other guardians appear."

Turn off personal forcefield & haste to next place of interest.

+ If my illusions do not require sustenance - create passable illusion of a glove taken at the same place, so as to test guardian a bit.

Basic Illusion Spell: -1MP
Action Roll (5): [9]
Outcome Roll: [3] -Critical Success-

You created an illusory glove at the same place you had taken yours. The spell was perfect, and even one grade above its normal class. Then you deactivated the personal shield.

"Let's move, lead the way Ulkas."

You quickly left the place, racking your brains on the way.

Brain Racking:
Action Roll (15): [19]+3 (Intelligence)

You quickly came up with an hypothesis. The Guardians reacted to mana, or maybe rather, to a specific magic signature left by artifacts?

You were already onto the next location.

Flavor Roll: [1]

You were about to enter this room, when Astrosa stopped you.
"Stop! A Guardian suddenly appeared in this room!"

You were facing the door. Behind you, a Guardian could appear at any moment depending on its reaction or tracking skills. There was a lot of possible paths to take, mainly one leading to the deeper levels, one a bit longer leading to an exit, and several others leading to many places of the current level.

Spoiler: Ulkas Status (click to show/hide)

Squelchy communicates some calming pheromones to his fellow slimes, rubbing up against them gently to assuage them of their fears. Then, he begins to turn his mind to a different task; he begins to fortify the area with solidified slime, creating spiky barriers near the edges of the orchard, and creating a few small "shelters" for the slimes to dwell in. He has decided they shall not budge from this location. It is will now be a Slimy Sanctuary.

Refuse to ride, I prefer to climb trees and jump from branch to branch or just walking

Questions: Do the Arachnastinian have other allies and enemies? Do fhey prefer diplomacy or war? How much of the jungle is in their power? Do they know about other types of monsters that have settled into the jungle like us?
