I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the VNxile (VN+exile) is probably for the best. DF is DF.

Nah, I'm too lazy to register on a torrent tracker to get to their stuff, do you think I'd join a forum just to spam? :)
Back to the topic at hand though, is there any clarification on whether the underground features will include magma? Suddenly happening upon an ocean of magma (bonus points for pressurized magma) while digging around for valuables would be great.

im actually happy that DF (hopefully) is never "done", as it means we can always hopefor new fixes, features and hilarious bugs.

this community would be half the size if the game was "finished" now.

i just hope eventually the source code will be released, so we can mod whatever we want into the game, but id understand completely if that never happened. disregard this, according to several posts, toadyone Pbuh never intends to release the source code, which is highly understandable.

Source? I doubt that Toady would release the source code EVEN if DF would be completed...at least If I would be Toady, I would never release it, that is for sure...not to mention that what do you meant on "he's done with DF"? If DF will ever gonna reach the v1.0 state, it won't mean that it's the final version.  ;)

Well, one day Slaves to Armok III will come, and it will make DF obsolete. Don't ask me how is that even possible, because only Toady can envision such greatness.

Anyway, we have a precedent for open-sourcing "finished" games: LCS.

Meh. I'd be happy with Armok II for as long as it's being worked on. Why fix something that isn't broken?

Besides, what huge change is worth a sequel? Would we be able to target specific molecules?

Next-version-related question that came up in a Suggestions thread: you mentioned giving materials ID numbers for the "whose blood is in this vial" stuff.  Will the next version track the, uh, original owner of all materials from "significant" creatures?  Will it show up in item descriptions?
