Frantically dig a bunker at a higher level. This is ultimately unnecessary, as the invading goblin's trolls destroy the drowning trap's floodgate: saving the fortress in the most ironic way possible.

WWUD if goblins with tanks and AK-47's blasted down the gate?

Make it into various metal items. The fortress begins succumbing to radiation poisoning. Most of the early sufferers die in the hospital, but more and more of them emerge alive as the doctors become legendary.

build lots and lots of asheries, before he is assigned as a soldier using the silver spear taken at embark. He is taken off duty as soon as he aggro's a buzzard, and flees in terror. Meanwhile, the other six dwarves (who have done absolutely nothing thus far) have drunk all the booze, and are slowly dying of thirst. One tantrums, and tears down the embark wagon, scattering the settlers to the four winds. They are then hunted down and killed by the local wildlife. All except Urist, who has been put back on duty. He survives on buzzard meat and blood until the next migrant wave arrives. He and the others build lots and lots of siege workshops, until Catten is assigned as a soldier in his squad...

WWUD if an elephant diplomat showed up, demanding he reduce his above ground construction?
