I like it! Shiny! Is it steel?

Random thing I drew:

Combines the benefits of four of human's best friends: mountain lion, velociraptor, armored fighting vehicle, and Hawkeye.

I love this design! Just one thing bugs me: wouldn't it need another arm to draw the bowstring with?

Ah. Is the lathe at work?

Yep - my new place of employment has a great machine shop & fabrication setup. I don't remember asking myself that question though :D

I love it ;~; like how I'm loving the everything posted lately. In a similar note, this one very much reminds me of the details I've tried in making reptilian-like mounts in worldbuilding then fumbling in textual description. Back to this note: I loooooove thiiiiiis all!
Although none of those four best friends got to me :P

Also, is that 5 appendages I see? Like, the arm to the left holding the bow (right in our view)? I don't see symmetry on the right side. ._.;
Hugo! Teach me your drawing-people skills! :D

Yay, the six-legged reptile returns.

It looks like the secondary forelimbs rest along the main ones, likely for more running/jumping power .. It does look like it's missing in that picture, unless maybe it's crossed under his torso for more protection.

I'd like to see a sketch of how he would use the bow. It seems like it would be awkward with the shoulders further back.

There is an eternal sort of problem with drawing this design, which is that I really like how the body looks from the side, and having the other arm out necessitates that I obscure parts of it. It does have the two arms, but they are, by design, normally hidden under the faux-wing covers. You can see the second arm's shoulder just above and behind the primary forelimb's shoulderplate, it has a small armor plate with a dark dot in the middle (an external camera) on it.

I might draw a version of this with the second arm out, or maybe the faux wings open slightly to show where it is.

(edit: ninja!)

edit2: There's this picture of an Artee, the... less military version of the same design, in about the only circumstance when drawing both arms out seems natural. Yes, Artee does sleep sometimes. The military Artax, not so much. :P

edit3:

The arms are relatively long, there is a considerable amount of travel in the shoulders, and the bow is a compound one, meaning you only need full strength to draw it first, and then you can aim easily. It does suffer severely from the "horseback archery" problem, where it can only aim in the half-arc of the arm that holds the bow, but thankfully both Artax and the bow are ambidextrous, and standing sideways to the target is not typically a problem.

Heh, you've certainly given it a lot more thought than i ever would (and indeed, that creature does look like it could function in reality). I'm not even going to pretend that it makes sense to have a talking sword-wielding snake with a helmet that SOMEHOW doesn't fall off, but hey, i grew up on Disney and a whole host of other cartoons, "sense" is veeeeeeery relative in that context. :P

In different news, i tried smacking some digital colour on one of my Inktober drawings.

Bit of a quick job, but eh, not like those lines are worth an exquisite two-hour colouring session. :P

Something something... something like this.

Spoiler: Arm! (click to show/hide)

I don't like to retouch already done sketches, because it tends to never look right.

Impressive sketch. :D I can't draw well at all. Angles and perspective always get me... especially when it comes to anatomy. I can't even model that shit.

But a worthwhile one! That's gorgeous! Perhaps some meshes could use smoothing, but then again that might not look right. Textures would just spoil it.

I like the basic idea, but it could use some more range in values and a tweaked composition. There's no real focal point aside from the wolf, and it's not really "saying" much. Great mood, though.
