In retrospect I may have been a bit overzealous in compressing the gif.

I still need to figure out a few things to get it looking the way I want it. For example, how to do light filtering, so light that passes through the red heart comes out as red.

That's pretty good actually. The back engine looks a bit wonky, though that might just be the perspective and aliasing.
