In the last wave of 20 some-odd migrants, a vampire slipped into my fort and almost immediately drained one of my poor dwarves. The investigation is ongoing, but I'd like some opinions on what to do with said vampire when the bastard is found. ideas?

Since when has Dwarf Fortress been about doing things the easy way?

I do believe that it is in part about unnecessarily abusing the opportunities that are presented to you.

You could make him fight elves in an arena. Then he could suck the elf blood instead of your dwarves blood.

Totally give him a pit w/ a bed and drink and w/e.  Let him chow on elves.  Make sure to give him a pit to drop things into!

[Gasp}  Make him an isolated farmer!  He'll drop it down for others to eat!

Use him as a magma pump stack lever. You must lock him in with the lowest magma pump. When you pump magma over 100 z-levels the lag is usally painful. With the vampire, you don't need a dwarf to walk to the lever of the energy switch.

Use him as a magma pump stack lever. You must lock him in with the lowest magma pump. When you pump magma over 100 z-levels the lag is usally painful. With the vampire, you don't need a dwarf to walk to the lever of the energy switch.
You'll have to wait for the vampire to walk to the lever, and they get pretty slow over time. Also, he may take a break from his eternal idling and then you'll not have your lever pulled at all for a considerable time

When you look at him, what do you see? A bloodsucking murderous fiend? or a valuable, immortal asset without the needs to eat, sleep, drink, and maybe even go on break?

Put him in charge of your U.R.I.S.T.

On that note... any suggestions for turning werecreatures and maybe even Husks into valuable fortress assets(Surely there's a use for someone that completely heals every month, even if he does have to be isolated regularly for "private time")? Necromancers make great Ranchers due to the way reanimation beefs up dead animals (Which can be re-butchered for even MORE meat)

Exitstrategy is in a melancholy mood.

My computer died while I was updating my saves and it corrupted my game. I had to delete and re-download the game. Sad face... Oh well. time for my first evil biome adventure.

Dig a hole. Chuck the vampire down that hole. Floor it over, place a statue above it. Cave in the entrance/wall it in. Lock down all access to it with doors, grates and hatches.

They deserve no other fate.

Death in fire and glorious combat is a fate I'd grant almost any man dorf digital predator.

Death in fire and glorious combat is a fate I'd grant almost any man dorf digital predator.
It's known to have killed one Dwarf AT LEAST.

Death is too kind for such a creature.
