When Skarbrand turned on Khorne he was like "I AM CURIOUS ABOUT THE CHOICES WHICH LED YOU TO THIS MOMENT. I INVITE YOU TO GO EXPLORE THAT."

and then flung him literally across the immaterium, into the endless wastes.

Also Emp is still kicking at the end of the 41st but slowly dying.

Man, if the emprah dies, warp travel would suddenly turn from "maybe we won't get lost in time and space" to "lol we don't need eyes where we are going". EarthTerra and prob the entire sol system would be swallowed by a huge warp storm, and pretty much every human psyker in the galaxy would prob die horribly from the huge psychic backlash.

Then again, its the emprah, meaning pretty much anything can happen.

A hundred Fabii look up from their lab equipment and go
"About time that soul got freed up. Let us begin".

I'll admit, he's my favourite champion of chaos. Scariest, too, probably. But also favourite.

It's the end of whichever millennium it is that has the 13th black crusade at the end, and we're disregarding the Ciaphas Cain novels that are kindasorta technically set after that. Or so my GM says.

Wat do?
If the Emperor is out then basically your only options are:
- Be shanked by random anarchist religious fanatic that thinks once Emperor is out he can do whathever he likes (which, truth to be told, isin't really that insane)
- Be skullfucked until death by deamons or genetically engineered mutated super-soldiers clad in Power Armour with evil goatees
- Be flayed alive by Ancient Murder Robots that don't care if they get nuked
- Be randomly blasted by random warmongering fungus that doesn't give a single feck about the God Emperor
- Be purged by crazy sex-deprived nuns with guns that are as fanatical as ever
- Be murdered during a pillaging raid by either space elves, BDSM space elves or genetically engineered super soldiers clad in Power Armour which don't have a purpose anymore
- Be enslaved and lobotomized by space weaboos and then get raped for eternity by deamons with billions of tentacles like in those sick hentai
- Be eaten by some kind of space bugs
- Some combination of the above

In all seriousness, The Shape Of The Nightmare To Come is pretty great /tg/ analysis and writebunchofsticksottry about Galaxy up until 50k.

Here's the other thing: the PCs are all infused with shards of the Emperor's reincarnated soul.

In all seriousness, The Shape Of The Nightmare To Come is pretty great /tg/ analysis and writebunchofsticksottry about Galaxy up until 50k.

Looks accurate of what would happen if the Emperor dies. Humanity does not diappear right away but without a doubt, the loss of the Emprah would mean no astronomican and indirectly no astropath. That means no long distance travel nor communications, unless a replacement is found but that would be unlikely.

Over time each sector will develop their own doctrine and they will go to war with their neighbors.  Some might turn into chaos and that would be a problem because that would restore their means to travel and communicate quickly against a disorganized humanity.

Others will turn towards the Tau, but who cares about the Tau.

Then there is a chance of the miracle that the Emperor's soul would be freed and thousands of great leaders suddenly appear to restore order into mankind.

Here's the other thing: the PCs are all infused with shards of the Emperor's reincarnated soul.

Considering the bunch of special rules they are using, that's not impossible.

Death of Emps might unexpectedly be just the thing that saves the imperium though, in the form of him reincarnating. http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Star_Child

Which may or may not be complete utter bullshit. Same goes with Illuminati, but those guys have a very good understanding of Warp stuff, understandably, so their way might actually work.

Or the other theory around that the amount of belief poured into the emperor is enough to spawn a new god, and the "increased psychic potential" seen amongst the humans waiting for the balance of belief:psykers to be high enough that when Emps is deified properly, he'll have more slugging power than slaanesh.

Or the other theory that Emps is Sigmar and everyone will go to the new universe because GW fuck you.

Might also be bullshit. The problem with all those theories is that either one may work, multiple may work or none at all may work. Nobody knows.

Or the other theory that Emps is Sigmar and everyone will go to the new universe because GW fuck you.
That would be the death of GW. Like, they can't seriously be that stupid to pull off that shit.

Can't they, though? They were stupid enough to go with the Age of Sigmar. They've greenlit a ton of games for the current version of 40k. It'd stand to reason they're cashing in on the known popularity of 40k before they completely upend it.

Fantasy was generally assumed to be selling pretty badly when they scrapped it. 40k is still their best seller. There's sense in scrapping product lines that don't make enough money (Battlefleet Gothic and Epic being examples of games that stopped making money and got canned) but there's no sense in scrapping your big earner in the vague hope you can replace it with something better.

Just depends. Seems like there's new blood at GWS, and there's nothing more dangerous to a successful IPs than new ideas. :P
