"I'm glad you are interested, Timmy, but I have to ask: do you know their goals? What if they only intend to use you as fodder in their fight? Or if their end goal is to dominate the world and rule with an iron fist, executing those who disagree with them? Like in Wrath of the Cyberlords. Though I guess in that case their side is the only safe one. I don't want to discourage you, Timmy, but I guess it really just boils down to one pair of questions. Do you want the same thing as them and can you live with the consequences of whatever they may ask of you to get there? I wish for you to find happiness in this new world, my brother, even if it does not include me, but I also do not want to see you lured into a life you do not want. Please, consider your options before acting. Maybe we can ask the Londoners themselves if we get a chance to cordially meet an authority figure." Theodore's voice is lowered so that only Timmy will hopefully hear him. The Londoners haven't really given him reason to doubt them, but a lifetime of writing fiction sometimes concerning the dystopian abuses perpetrated by the ones in power has left him a little paranoid when coupled with the realities of this new world.

I clearly went about this the wrong way. Assuming Timmy's dilemma doesn't keep me from doing other things. This is just like in A Rocketcycle Built For Two, where the protagonist must navigate the bureaucracy of a planetary government who he has no authority or sway with to share information with their CEO vital to their future asteroid investments, upon which the fate of the star system somehow rested. Except that while the protagonist had to fulfill various inane requests to get help, Theodore has the magic of lying. So, you know, go lie to one of the people who could get me an audience with someone who would share their research on the Hunger. Do this by telling them that they want to help us and introduce us to someone who could share that information in exchange for information on Viktor.

Ben Lash eyed the bear skeptically as it spoke of ancient knowledge and offered answers to questions.
"Er," he says at length, "Kin I think about it fer a sec? That gal on the bike might be comin' back this way, anyhow. Best keep quiet."
After a moment peering out the door from where he sits, he turns back and adds, "Oh yeah, don't suppose you've got any food, do ye?"

Sit quietly as before, bunking down inside the doorway as though to camp for the night.
Really, though, I'm listening out for the sound of the motorbike and pondering just what questions I might want answered by the sum of human knowledge. Do I know where the uploxxed came from, how they work, and why? What about mutants - though they might be a more recent development?

Bungay
Whelp, let’s try this. I guess give it a quick look over to make sure there’s no glaring flaws that will lead to grievous bodily injury in me, and then let’s give it a go.
[Darrin rolled 3+3+1wits+1engineer=8]
Darrin inspects the wiring. It looks sound enough but he spots a point where the metal would come into contact with bare flesh, so he folds it in to prevent injury. Then it's time to test the thing. Sriracha straps him in, saying, "Just drive it like you would any other car."

Darrin takes the advice and puts the car into drive and pushes his foot down on the acceleration. He feels a light tingle from the set, but no painful injury. Over the course of the day, Sriracha makes adjustments and takes measurements as Darrin drives around the small walled town. At the end, the mechanic is overjoyed.

"It works! This could revolutionise technology! So many things to consider! How are you feeling?"

Darrin feels in good health, but he notices that his thumb fire is barely an ember, the keratin in his hands has receded and his voice feels weak.

Sriracha gives over the payment: a spray can with a faded label. From what can be made out it's apparently SPRAY ON FLESH.

Warped Engine has been completed. Darrin gains +2 tallies and a can of spray on flesh.

Darrin gains condition: depleted mutations.

Dereham
Head to [Dereham]
Spoiler: ForHire (click to show/hide)

”Okay now that’s that’s done let’s head to Dereham”

Travel to [Dereham]
Jägermörder and Sandra make the rest of the short journey into Dereham. It's an empty market town which has been converted into a studio lot. In the big church here are dozens of props the drones use in their broadcasts: backdrops, smoke machines, fireworks, cloud-seeders, lightning rods, rumblers. Everywhere drones buzz about or charge themselves from the solar arrays that stretch out on the roofs here. A woman in a black dress leans dead eyed against a central monument. As the pair of uploxed arrive in the town, the woman jerks into life and shambles over to them.

"W-w-w-welcome to d-d-Dereham," she says. "Please be aware that everything here is the p-p-property of Terraterror."

P4 Den-> Spooner Row
Back to my den to do maintenance before i head out to end the Suffering For Sassafras.
[P4 rolled 5+2+1wits+1den=9]
P4 stops by his den and does the repairs, using up the last bits of scraps he has there: next time he gets damaged he need to find the bespoke parts. After that he heads back out, stalking towards Spooner Row.

On a hill looking above the tangle of roundabouts where the pirates have set up their ambush point, P4 surveys the scene. He sees on the next hill over a small contingent of men and women who appear to be spying on Spooner Row with a long telescope.

P4 loses all conditions.

Watton
Issac noted that he should try to refrain from combat in this place. This Creekal guy was evidently willing to break a few rules due to his current predicament. Issac figured it wouldn't take much time to try asking a couple of questions. Stuff along the lines of "What did that guy do to deserve it". It might be possible to get some at least noteworthy information without the need to directly ask for it.
[Isaac rolled 5+6-2empathy+1spy=10]
Isaac spends some time in casual conversation with the residents, trying to pump them indirectly for info on Creekal. He soon learns that Creekal recently got into a brawl over explosives: the other residents were fed up of his shack exploding every few weeks, threatening the other buildings with damage. Some of them gesture towards a grubby corrugate-iron lean-to surrounded by scorch marks. Creekal was sentenced to a time out, a terrible punishment. It's due to end in two days.

Deep In The Broads -> Norwich Riverside
Sandeep's just going to avoid the person, then, and head back to base to install the razorwire. After that, set up a third personal quest for finding a boat to get to Ipswich for the next two missions.
Sandeep moves on, finding his base and spending the better part of a day rolling out razorwire around it. He'll be able to sleep
a bit more sound now. He remembers a canoe he left somewhere in the city so he starts walking there. It takes a while but again he is able to keep out of sight and he emerges in the crumbling city.

Making his way to the spot where his boat was before, he comes to a scubby patch of ground where the houses sink into the flood plain. Near a bingo hall, he finds someone must have walked off with the canoe. While he's pondering what to do, he spots a canal barge tied up on the opposite river bank...

Sandeep begins personal quest Finding a Boat (Location Norwich, x1 tally reward)

Boathouse in the Broads
Auze continues walking away on his path, keeping an eye on the man to make sure if he does or doesn't approach.
Auze continues on through the Broads. His brother meets him just down river from a wooden boathouse with a narrow jetty sticking out into the bloated waters.

"This flying woman attacked me," says Josh. "I fought her off, but she snatched my sword! She's in there somewhere, I've heard her working on a boat in there. She was faster than the devil, I didn't want to face her alone."

Empire Forge
"What kind of fortune and creatures dwell with in the maze?"
See what the drone says.
"HIGH QUALITY ELECTRONICS, VICTUALS, SECRETS, TRAPS, SAVAGE ROBOTIC CONTRAPTIONS AND OTHER DYNAMIC ENTERTAINMENTS," claims the drone.

Bungay
[Theodore rolled 4+2+0empathy+1ally+1scifi=8]
[Theodore rolled 3+1+2weird+1scifi=7]
Theodore thinks Timmy is on side. At least for now, so the pair of them trudge about about Bungay some more, as the author uses his lying tongue to get in with the people there. Eventually he lies his way up the chain until someone tells him,"Balthazar is arriving now in the yard. He'll want to hear this."

So Timmy and Theodore find themselves standing in front of a man with bright red skin and a single crooked horn emerging razorsharp from his forehead. An aide hurriedly appraises him of half a dozen things including Theodore's presence. "Ah Theodore Ansen I presume?
Attack of the Alcoholic Aliens was dreck but I did enjoy Wrath of the Cyberlords. My colleague tells me that you want our dossier on the Hunger and you have information on the mutant known as Viktor. We'll happily share what we have, all mutants should know about the Hunger... but first tell me honestly: what can we do to get Viktor to fight for us?"

[Softly] “Not bad overall, but it seems to have drained my mutations. I think I’m going to need to rest for a bit before they come back. Is there a cafeteria around?”
Sriracha points the way to a general cafeteria. Darrin heads over. In the street he sees Theodore and Timmy speaking with what appears to be a demon. The cafeteria is an old cafe repurposed to serve up for troops and visitors. There is no charge. They're serving a gloopy vegetable soup. The talk on the tables is on when they might be returning to London.

Scole
Sit quietly as before, bunking down inside the doorway as though to camp for the night.
Really, though, I'm listening out for the sound of the motorbike and pondering just what questions I might want answered by the sum of human knowledge. Do I know where the uploxxed came from, how they work, and why? What about mutants - though they might be a more recent development?
[Ben rolled 3+5+2wits=10]
Ben spends a long time through the night thinking clearly on what he already knew. He knows that most people left the world, the uploxed. Their minds entered satellites orbiting the earth. Apparently they live in paradise there. The handful of people left behind struggled to live in a world fallen apart and many people died, and many more eventually defected to the uploxed. Now only a handful of holdouts like his family remain, harried by robot-bodied uploxed who have returned to the Earth in the last decade seemingly to purge the last of the real humans. They're battery powered, charged from solar-farms hidden in heavily armed locales. They make their bodies in hidden factories, using dead animal parts and worse.

The mutants he knows less about. Increasingly over the last year, wild mutants: humans with incredible warped bodies and strange bodies have rampaged across the countryside, ripping people's hearts out and eating them raw. There are plenty of mutants that haven't succumbed to this madness yet, but most of the pirates see them as ticking time bombs. Weirdly, they all seem to claim to have been frozen from the past.

About six months ago there was a big falling out with the main group of humans in Norwich when some of the pirates raided and drove out the church from Norwich. Since then, the pirate leadership has taken a hardline stance against both uploxed and mutants: anything that is an existential threat to humankind.

The bear waits patiently for his questions.

Dereham
“Hello. We would like to buy a Cloud Seeder from Terraterror. What would be needed in exchange?”
Ask the woman what I would need to give for one of the cloud seeders
The woman judders a moment as she connects to Nexus. Over the connexion, Sandra receives an image of a great pit carved into maze.

"Bring us a f-f-f-fighter or a challenge or a t-t-t-t-trap or a weapon for our l-l-labyrinth," she says.

Request information on where this Gold Caterer place is for [Ectasy of Gold], then shadowstep there
[Jager rolled 4+2+2empathy+0terra=8]
The woman beams over an outdated satellite map, one of the labels shows a caterers. In Nexus an avatar of a bubbly woman in a black dress appears to Jager. In Nexus she speaks without a stutter. "Hey you're kinda cute in a murdery way. What are you doing all the way out here on Earth?"

She keeps talking to him as he navigates his body to the caterers. It's a small industrial unit, a grey box of steel and concrete covered in ivy. "So whatcha doing here?" she asks. "I'm Persephone. Can I call you Jags?"

”It’s best to assume I’m here to terminate all human life in this planet, it’s more of an hypothesis really but I believe if the humans get back to a thriving status and get access to nuclear technology and then nuke the satellites, especially because most of the Uploxed factions are hellbent on killing humanity already. All of the would Uploxed die, and we would all lose our immortality. Again just an hypothesis. If your going to give me a nickname, call me Skynet. Anyways how do I get access to some gold leaf?

Ask Persephone, what I would need to trade-in to get some gold leaf or rather demand that they give me the gold leaf, and then ask if she’s a bodysnatcher

Check out the canal barge and see if it's capable of movement and occupied.  If it's empty and capable of moving, yoink it and sail downriver.

If it's occupied and capable of movement, sneak in and try to get the drop on the owner.

If it's stranded and unoccupied, try to get an idea of how to fix it.

If it's stranded and occupied, pass it up and follow the trail for the rowboat.

"Always nice to meet someone who enjoyed at least some of my work, especially in a world like this. What was your favorite part? As for Viktor, I believe alcohol would be the best bet. Timmy and I traveled with him before the Hunger got him and I rarely saw him without a bottle. I also have a bottle of vodka that he gifted me. He seemed to really like the stuff. I could give it to you if you put in a good word with the mechanic I heard was around here. I have a request to make of them when I get the chance."

Give information on Viktor. Get dossier on the Hunger. Possibly give bottle of vodka in exchange for help from mechanic in making my base mobile. Amd since I'm guessing vodka for base might be a bit of an upsell, use my Silver Tongue to make it more appealing if necessary.
