I don't see why fortress mode drawings shouldn't be allowed. They can be just as funny.

well I usually switch between fort mode and adventure mode and my art is based on the adventurer(that currently in fort mode). You could skate by this if you happen to have an adventurer move into a fort.
though that kinda means either retiring in a fortress for he/she/it to migrate into (or retiring a fortress so that they can retire there saving you time to migrate) or using Dfhack to swap over to fort mode with the adventurer still there and hack him/her in, or selecting one of your Dwarves to become an adventurer then leave if you want to explore the area(kinda need to dfhack this option as well).

One of my adventurers had a silver mace and legendary ambusher. She decided to sneak up on some bandits. It... didn't go as planned. As it turns out, if you accidentally break the upper spine instead of smashing the skull, well...

"But, Argonnek," I hear you ask, "why do bandits speak like stereotypical internet users?" Because that is how I justify mercilessly beating them to death with blunt objects.

Bite their fingers/hands off or rip their throat out with your teeth! Death from blood loss compliments the quick disabling from blunt damage nicely.

You could have just walked away. Anyone living with their upper or middle spine's nervous tissue destroyed will shortly expire of suffocation. On the other hand, until they die, they're a perfect training dummy - as long as they're conscious, you get weapon skill experience for bashing their limbs to paste, and since they won't feel nothing, they can't give in to pain...

Cheap tip: you get the same weapon experience whether you hit or not, go for impossible shots so your dummy won't die early. That might be boring, though, so go for digits if you can.

I just love the rampant casual sociopathy that we engage in here.

As long as it's not 'can't quite connect' or 'can only graze' or something to that effect, you can still manually strike someone in the head with shift+a.

It took me Forever to get a good shot at the bastard's head.

As long as it's not 'can't quite connect' or 'can only graze' or something to that effect, you can still manually strike someone in the head with ctrl+a.

shift-a you meant, surely. I'm looking at the difficulty rating for hitting first and foremost - when facing something with presumably high weapon/block/dodge skills, look for "easy", "easier" and "direct hits", regardless of damage rating; even if you're not doing any damage, you'll gain a few skill points and should be mostly safe from counterattacks. And even grazing attacks can open arteries when performed with a nasty weapon.
Your chances to hit (and actual damage done) go way up when attacking a prone enemy, or someone who lost their weapon or shield - a 'tricky' strike on a prone disarmed foe is a fairly safe bet, even when your skills are only moderate. On a paralysed foe i'd try anything that's not counted as "impossible", because they can't retaliate, only dodge (with very low chances of success).

The better success when striking at a prone enemy works against you, as well - if you even temporarily fall to the floor, your survival chances drop like a rock.

Yep. I usually go for anything that isn't a difficult or impossible strike, usually. Tricky strikes are worth taking, especially if your weapon skill is 10+.
