Okay, this is the thread for discussing the idea of a group of us joining together in some sort of communal living society. We'd have a shared kitchen and living area, and everyone would be expected to contribute.

Current State of The Plan

We find a single building with the amenities we need in a semi-urban environment, hopefully with a college nearby for additional income via winter renters. Members will be split into two groups - Renters and Shareholders.
Shareholders actually have partial ownership, and their fiscal contribution is only reliant on paying off their shares, plus something for food and utilities.
Renters will owe a certain monthly amount in rent, but can potentially reduce that amount doing work for the commune as a whole, but that depends on need. This will be the communes primary source of collective income.
Infrastructure Desires: Chicken Coop, Veggie Garden

Target Date - 2 years minimum, probably actually a few more, though people generally heading to the area before hand and meeting up is obviously fine.
Target Location - Seattle, Washington

October of whenever. Just seems like a good month to do things. Obviously not October past, though. Come on people. It's pretty much all just filler while we discuss things. I'm sorry I put anything. I've changed it to a minimum - it will happen when there are enough people to make it happen.

I'd probably need at least two years to save up enough to be anything approaching a proper shareholder anyways.

In preparation, though, I am looking for a new job in Seattle because of this. Even if this thing never happens, I get to be in Seattle, and I've decided that is a good thing.

I'm intending to move to Seattle in ~2 years, for work off the west coast post graduation if not for Grad School as well. If it's in the area, perhaps.

I'd just as soon get an apartment with a roommate or two though.
