Mentionning ancient machines, it reminded me of something i thought i had already linked to it in this thread, but a search came empty, so how about a simulator of some of the famous Enigma cypher machines that decoding was very important for the Allied in WW2 :

Still works on window 10

Thanks, that's awesome!

Do you know about this book?  Lots of neat stuff about enigma in it.

Nice, i never read this book but definitively going to be on my list.

The author of this Enigma machine simulator also did more of those cipher machine sims :

KL-7 simulator (a cipher machine introduced by the NSA in the 50ies and was used by NATO up to the early eighties)
http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/kl-7sim.htm

M-209 simulator (a portable cipher machine of the US Navy in the WW2 and was apparently used up to the Korean war, for the anecdote apparently Germany nearly decoded it as they were able to decode 30% of the US Navy message encrypted with it)
http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/m209sim.htm

BC-52 simulator (a cold war era cipher machine)
http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/bc-52.htm

He also had some fun free tools if you don't have enough cipher and cryptology with the simulators
http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/cipherclassics.htm
http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/cryptobox.htm
http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/numbersgen.htm

Enough to launch your own secret services agency ( though everyone on the internet will probably break your encryption with all those tools :D )

Cool.  There is a real enigma machine in the U-505 display in Chicago, which was really neat to see after having read Bodyguard of Lies, which was my first real exposure to the WWII codes story and how the allies had to walk a tightrope to use the knowledge they gained from breaking the code without tipping off the axis powers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_submarine_U-505

This was interesting too, seeing them move the submarine into the museum in time-lapse.

KL-7 simulator (a cipher machine introduced by the NSA in the 50ies and was used by NATO up to the early eighties)
http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/kl-7sim.htm

"...developed in the late 1940's by the American Armed Forces Security Agency (AFSA) ... The KL-7 served in the United States and several NATO countries until 1983. ...the internal wiring of the ciphering rotors, which is considered part of the secret key settings, is still classified."

A physical cipher machine developed eighty years ago, discontinued from official use forty years ago, still has its innards (and by extension, decryption) classified. I wonder what kind of stuff is in the messages that are still floating around out there in some government agency that could not be readily decrypted and is still weaponizable. Or maybe it was just never worth declassifying.

old school beat'em up fans and nostalgic people will appreciate : there's a new Street of Rage remake release, version 5.2 with lots of new stuff :
https://sorr.forumotion.net/t838-new-streets-of-rage-remake-v5-2-download-and-info#15816

(edit : i played for a while and i really can't get into it and while there are good in the new stuff, the "improved AI" is making the game actually much less fun for my taste, SoRR 5.1 is still the best version to me , it can be easily found from a google search.)

if you do not have an aversion to epic games, the epic games store has both Tyranny gold and Pillars of eternity definitive edition for free, which is a decent pair of rpgs. i like pillars of eternity more but both are most definitely worth getting.

thought id back this up here cuz these are worth getting

Ah yes, the insatiable lust of corn and rice, clearly two of the most erotic foods.
