I guess they saw Minecraft doing it and thought, "Shit, that worked well for them"

I'm actually looking forward to this. The Terrarria interface is already so bad that any overhaul they make for the console can only be an improvement, right?

...

right?

Bbut seriously, right joysticks for pointer control, left for movement control. For things like mining, simply make it a stretch system - max in a direction is... max range in that direction, and less is less. For things like magic missile are just directly controlled with the joystick like another controllable character thing.

It's really not too hard to figure out, and I think it would be more pleasant to use than the system they have now - all controls are relative to the character, rather than... wherever the hell you were last pointing. Hell, even most 2d games on the pc seem to be using that sort of system now.

Incorrect. Everyone, including Red, quit. I guess it's not too late to flog the corpse for a few more dollars.

His goodbye post was something to the effect of "I know I promised all that stuff, but there's a baby and what with being at home with a infant who sleeps the vast majority of the day I just couldn't find time to work on this anymore. Buy my next thing, coz I'm makin' it!"

At least that's how I remember it. Definitely something like that.

Pretty much.  At the beginning they were like "We're gonna keep it up as long as players are still on it!"  And then they're like "It's gonna be awesome, we're gonna make NPC towns, and goblin fortresses, and invading sieges that like, build on the map and shit!"  And then suddenly "Oh right.  Fuck you I'm out.  I don't have to justify myself to anyone."

And the modding really wasn't all that much last time I checked, there was some decent stuff, but most of it was along the lines of adding more items and the like.

Hmm, well, i do think they have supported their game, remember 1.1 was a huge update for free.

However, he made a foolish mistake leaving it like that and i don't give a damn about a console port. there will always be starbound i guess.

Sooooo, guuuys:

I'm gonna make that on forsaken's server but obviously there are those two kinds of bricks I can't think of finding a match in Terraria. Any help?

In case of questions: Palenque, from game La-Mulana.

The darker green can be grassy dirt, while the lighter green can be dungeon brick?

If I'm not mistaken, isn't Terraria written in a programming language that's easy to port to consoles? XNA or therabouts? Call it a money-grubbing plot if you will, but I guess I can't see the harm in utilizing the portability of the language.

It does hurt to see the dead horse beat on, though. Still, I got my hundred hours out of it, so I'm not too bitter.

Why is it really money grubbing?

So they want more money and are doing it through a totally legitimate port.

I mean SURE it is purely motivated by money and not artistic impression or creative responsibility but is there something wrong with money for money's sake?

I actually love playing Terraria with a gamepad and I use an xbox controller. With the Pinnacle Game Profiler you can set it up so that the right stick rotates in a small circle around your character about as far as you can mine etc.. and it snaps back to center when not being used. It is my preferred method to play  and is loads of fun. Same with games like Cortex Command etc..

I actually didn't mind that much when Red quit. I demo'd the game and found it a worthy purchase, and I do feel like I got my money's worth.

But promising wild things that you don't even bother excusing why you didn't deliver.... that's some Dan Brown shit right there, IMO.
