Let him go, and run off to the barracks to grab their axe (technically it was self defense but doing any further harm wouldn't be good for anybody)

WWUD if all the badger men turned up the next day with giant snakes & mushroom men, but all they want to do is sing the dwarves to death in a musical troupe because that's how they settle fighting in their culture.
