Ahh, i see, the depicictions on the right (the frog, what i guess is a squid, and the last thing at the bottom, which i cant figure out (a serpent/dragon perhaps?) ) are all made up of the repeating linear patterns which are shown in the middle. Plus the frog on the left having what i assume is paint featuring similar patterns.
That is pretty cool and gives the drawings a sort of... I'm not sure whether "tribal" is the correct word here but i can't think of a better word for it right now, it gives it that kind of vibe.
Either way, i think it's pretty nice.

Also, a question, Q: Do the repeating patterns themselves have any meaning or significance?

Yeah, you got it all right, the tribal part too.

Started as a random Kvaksoi sketches and then started defining their original art. The one with the staff was supposed to be a Quarlvák priest of old, before they started wearing robes, wanted to define their decorations. But I wasn't satisfied with this one, so it's a random warrior I guess.

Those in the middle are indeed patterns, each is supposed to portray some sort of surface, like skin, fur, scales, water and so, each having it's own symbolic meaning on top of the aesthetic. And with these patterns you would make more complex pictures, like the ones on the right. Kvaksulu tribesmen would tattoo (kltekk) themselves with these, the pictures reflecting their personal traits, feats and/or virtues they are trying to achieve, each tattooed body part has also its own meaning. Woodcarvers (feképoi) would also use these patterns in their workers.

I haven't come up with the exact meanings yet, aside from some mythological significance of certain symbols. The frog picture kinda tries to mirror the anatomy, with flowing water (blood) and wind (breath) inside, also having lots of "sea" and "moon" patterns, so it's most probably a depiction of a kvaksa. Serpents are associated with wind in this universe, so the lower buddy has lots of that, with soft skin/flesh patterns inside the mouth, scales on the outside, hard material on the tooth. The squid follows similar concepts. Squids are tied a lot to the culture, as well as other sea creatures, so some of the patterns are made to resemble primarily them.

As far as I'm aware Rotoscoping was used in a lot of the older cartoons, so that means it's definitely a legitimate technique for animation.

Also Quaksna that is a fancy looking thing you've done there.

Absolutely yes, Disney's Snow White being a particularly good example as seen when she, in her rotoscoped glory, is dancing among the non-rotoscoped dwarfs. If Disney can do it, so can you. :v

Rotoscoping was also used in Karateka (1984), the OG Prince of Persia (1989), and Another World (1991). Made by the same guy for the first two, apparently. Rotoscoping has a well-established lineage in video games too.
