I can confirm the mayor is the vampire as all the other military was hungry after being locked in there so I moved all the other dwarves in the squad to and put them in the same barrack as the other squad..

After the ettin died I began looking through the combat logs trying to figure out what happened, not only did I find out, but I found this gem: the reason they died so fast: Turns out we had.... not enough armor for the dwarves and no one bothered to tell me SQUAD LEADERS!!!!!

Amused at Ettin killing anything when I in my current fort everyone has been in military so long that FB interrupt from hauling corpses from opened caverns results in FB not managing to land any blows and dying in a page

You don't need armor as much when everyone is legendary dodger :v
