One of the potential problems in a new fortress is that the broker might not have any experience and therefore might not know how much whatever the traders bring is worth.  The apparent fix to this seems to be to make a small trade, hoping for the trade to go through so that the broker gains enough experience for the prices to be displayed.

I propose that the traders should recognize this situation and attempt to gouge the broker (and the fortress) by asking several times more for items than what they’re  actually worth.

It was mentioned in the latest roadmap that the adventure mode Steam update will bring changes to how marketplaces function. I propose the biggest change should be that all markets are now run by goblins that exclusively sell fruit.
