I find dark colours to be easier on the eye (and they're really dark because my screen is always set to two ticks above minimum brightness), and dark grey is the easiest to come by.

Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I use purples when I can get them, rutile and pitchblende. When they're not available I tend to use Dark grey stone, Obsidian, or layered flux stones.

In Canyonmartyrs I'm making everything out of marble blocks though, just because I have a few layers of it.

Any and all colours except grey and white are among my favourites. It gives me that retro feel for some reason and they're good for murals and designs. Red Magneta and Light Green are my preferences though.

I'll have a man deliver your WIN to you in the morning.

I go for microcline.  Why?  Is it fashionable?  Is it plentiful?  Is it economical?  No.  It makes peoples' eyes bleed when I post screenshots, and I am a terrible terrible sadist.

It depends on what's available. If I'm building an above ground town, homes are usually wood or siltstone, and the imperial castle is gold and marble

Dwarves passing by get good thoughts from the mist of water and exploding felines.
Anyone of the equivalent to the royal bloodline in a nomadic group would have a sun tattooed on their hand, or a scrotum on their forehead (it's a little-known fact that fraternities are based off of long-forgotten tribes).

Obviously it's assumed that absolutely everything are available.

Hmm, phyllite I guess. The shimmering metallic colour looks good for the architecture. Quartzite looks more like the rock got blemished with white and basalt looks a tad bit dull. Granite and marble look good but they do have the 'classical rock' image stuck to them.

OooO I won some... Win?

Brainhurty. Personally I tend to build my fortresses out of diorite, palaces out of quartzite (simply because the Egyptians valued it as a dense and pricey shiny stone), and my water resevoirs out of rock salt when available :P

For me (and of course my Dwarfs), we prefer Kaolinite, due to it is RED and it disguises the Blood, well, goblin blood, Elf blood seems to BURN!

I think I have to go with dark grey, dark blue, and green.

Marble is probably my favorite material to build forts out of, but that's more due to me liking marble than it is me liking white colors in general. Glass is probably my most common fort material, and thus green the most common color.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.
