But the intial sketch should be in proportion, otherwise the stuff you base on it will be out of proportion too. Best to get it right when there's no detail and stuff to worry about, rather than realise that it's wonky five hours into a piece :V

Anyways, starting the year off with some comfort zone mechs, but with a twist!

Finally broke through a bout of not being able to bring myself to bother with anything higher than linework. Also a bit of an experiment with cleaned sketch linework.

I didn't realize I was making it so small.

Could you perhaps rotate that so that its forward is not down?

I sat around for a bit wondering what it was that it reminds me of... And then it struck me. Ever played Street Fighter 3? The character Twelve has a walking animation that looks fairly similar to that. I remember this because Twelve has been a PAIN in my arse. :v
But anyways, cool thing! Were it up to me, i'd call it a jellamander. :P

Cute little bugger! You nailed the lines, colours and shading quite well, and the only thing that gets me is that the pose is a bit stiff. I wouldn't say i'm qualified to give advice on avoiding stiffness yet, but that besides, adding a little sway/curve to the spine often helps.

CODENAME BUN-BUN READY FOR BATTLE. Can hardly say anything constructive, this is VERY GOOD.

also i have that ghastly feeling that this sketch will never end up looking as rad as it does in my head

it is also extremely intimidating to try getting started on something as potentially ambitious as this because there will be a background aaa

Well putting an aaa in the background isn't hard at all...
As long as you can draw an aaa, at least.

I've codenamed the whole thing "junkwerm", so it's basically a giant robotic drill worm (yes they're drills) with a hateful red eye of doom that wants you off of its garden. The eye being a laser eye is actually a very good idea, now that you mention it. :v
You'd be totally forgiven for not figuring that out, because it's a fairly messy sketch. Mostly i just posted it so i have less incentive to just leave it as it is, because otherwise it definitely wouldn't be the first unposted thing that i never finished.

also darn street fighter 3 is pretty cool tho

I didn't feel like going sleep early tonight at midnight, but I was bored. So I tried drawing a bit. I haven't drawn in a while. Months. Maybe a half-year. Here's one of the sketches I did tonight.

An experiment in drawing...humans with robotic additions. Cyborgs? Dystopian cyberpunk people? She looks like she's seen some shit. Maybe she had an accident and had to get her face "fixed".

I think I'll work more on the concept another time, but for now I'm tired.

Given that the head is bandaged, you could say that the injury that forced modification in the first place damaged the scalp too badly for hair to regrow. If they were caught in an explosion and had their hair burn, for instance.

I was taught in primary school that it's "C, then up and down. No, not like a nine. C, then up and down."

Also, we should stop speaking of 'a's or we'll excite greatorder.

Hee, best kind of procrastination; the kind that actually results in GOOD things being made. c:

also today i made another messy-as-hell sketch and i can't be arsed to clean it up because i've had my spoopy urges satisfied for now

It is honestly not very pleasant to work any more on. :v

I think it's the positioning of how far the teeth are, relative to the positions of the skull//skin. :O That, or the perspective gives a really nice illusion of proximity to the front since we're seeing this at a 90 degree angle :P

Nice work everyone ._. This is by far my most visited bookmark.

Also @Shook: I've been watching you ever since you started posting here :P The development is ossum! [Would love tips on progress, public or otherwise x_x]
