I don't see what the fairy bell has to do with Avatar at all?

Ever since that movie (don't get me wrong, it's a decent movie), everyone refer to it whenever they hear the word 'Navi'.
Highly annoying when I do get the original reference and noone else does.

Yeah, the fairy isn't as annoying as Navi would be. And yeah, now I remember the robot hat too.

Lightsabers are really more of a trope at this point, but the cumulative evidence points to Phaseblades and Phasesabers to being more of a reference after all. It'd be great if they could reflect lasers though.

So, in total... Link suit, Mario suit, Quote's hat, Party Girl, the phaseblades... only the Link and Mario suits, and the Quote hat, look really out of place, especially given Meteor Armor and the Space Gun. There's a sort-of-reference to Princess Bride (with The Groom)...

Compared to, say UnEpic, that had a lookalike of that general alien from Star Wars whose name I can't be bothered to remember, standing in a dungeon for no other reason than to have the main character walk up to him, point at a nearby pressure plate and ask what exactly that is.

Terraria's references are mostly mild and pretty well-done, in my opinion.

There's also the Creeper, "Karate Tortoise", Xenomorph, Archaeologist, Doctor Who and Bride of Frankenstein vanity sets. There are quite a few references in Terraria.

Eh, I guess I just like my references much more buried. It is a problem I have with The Binding of Issac with its 1ups and blue candles too, and that is also a great game.
Personal preference in the end, but it really does take something away for me.

Most of the vanity items are references, but I think that's kinda the idea of them. If you discount vanity sets, you have maybe 10 out of several hundred items that are references?

Bloody machete, bladed claw, breaker blade, hammush, pwnhammer...  I'm forgetting some things.

The Keybrand is an obvious reference.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

Admiral Ackbar.

The references in Terraria were all really well done in my opinion.  None of the references were things that you necessarily had to get, mainly just tributes in vanity form to popular or iconic things we know at a glimpse (Although Quote's hat isn't as well-known, I'm still a sucker for the homage to Cave Story).  Also, they used to have the Doctor's set, as in Doctor Who.  Not sure exactly what happened to that, or if it's still in the game or not.

Me and my buds managed to get to wave 14 of pumpkin moon, but we got pretty much got anything worth getting. Or at least I did. Horseman's blade. Raven staff. Bat Staff.

The goodie bags end Nov 10. Pumpkins can be grown all year, and hence, pumpkin moon can be done at any time.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

AFAIK all events also depend on your OS clock, so you can tweak that if you want to go back to time-sensitive events.
