just like a predator overkilling its prey beyond recovery.

That actually kinda sums up the lack of plot-progression.

You chain and fist simultaneously.

How would a chainfist work? In order to hit anyone, they'd already be impaled by the chainsword...

So the punch from power fist sends them flying and they fly away, while still being cut even more by chainsword.

afaik (which is dicey), the power field extends to the sword bit and stops just at the teeth.
So the chain bit cuts stuff open and then the power fist bit "widens the gap", so to speak.

But as it's basically a power fist with armorbane, maybe the teeth take care of what the power field doesn't?

That is the basic idea as I understand it. Normal powerfists can only crush, chainswords can only grind, Chainfists do both at the same time, which increases their destructive effect on things that are hard to destroy with powerfist pummeling alone.

And then there are apparently chainmauls. Basically, a huge ball with chainsword teeth all around it and power field generator inside. You bash someone, it rips them to shreds and then explodes the fuck out of them. WH40k is ridiculously goresome.

... It ain't in the chaos codex.
Which, if it exists somewhere else, is honestly is a crime to the chaos codex.

It's obvious chain-anything is simply a move to make it even more destructive.

Expect chain-bolters, which is not your regular bolter with the attached chainsword for close combat, but a bolter that fires rounds with little chainswords in it's tips. I really don't know why (or if) someone at GW already thought of it.

To be honest, a chain maul sounds more like something the Inquisition or the Gray Knights would use.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?
My ship exploded midflight, but all the shrapnel totally landed on Alpha Centauri before anyone else did.  Bow before me world leaders!

I recall Organgrinders are basically chain bolt rounds.

I'm not sure, I remember reading up on it somewhere on internet after I had the most amazing idea to go search for chainhammer... and to be honest, it might be what it's called in fluff, since chainhammer is described in similar way, with multiple rows of teeth on club like head.

Though, really, you can turn any melee weapon into chainweapon, so I don't see a problem.

Crunchwise I've seen chain variants of sword (+more better Eldar sword), axe and fist.
But fluff wildly outreaches crunch, so it makes sense
Still haven't seen a chainlance or spear yet either , which would be cool.

To be honest, a chain maul sounds more like something the Inquisition or the Gray Knights would use.
Grey Knights seem to have claimed the hammer.
Mauls, far as I've seen, belong to chaplains, bullgryns, (staff-psykers) and everyone chaos.

There are chainflails, which are kind of chainchains.

Those are loyalist though. It apparently signifies that their user is not afraid of death because they trust the Big E so much... yeah, you proably need to have some serious faith while flailing an chainflail where the you have chainchain and head with chains everywhere and it just spins around murdering things.
